I don't really see the need to pick a side. But Notch's behaviour is very unprofessional. Minecraft is an idea. any decent software developer can make that game. All he had was an idea that in this case was extremely good and is a big hit.
They called us "a bunch of nerds who don't know how to run a company", demanded that we pay them to come here (nobody else got paid).
whether or not the Yogscast actually said this. I don't see it as being false, I'd be outraged if i didn't get paid to dedicate so much time and effort to a convention. This alone proves that Mojang doesn't know what they are doing. And since Mojang has done no marketing and has been floating on the community surrounding minecraft I don't see how that gives them the experience to professionally run a company, all they have done is selling minecraft copies and developing some new content every now and then.
This is way unprofessional of Mojang and of Notch.
lol 36 pages why do people even care about this
I dont understand
Yogscast make awesome videos, hence they are awesome
Notch made MC, hence is awesome
They've had a minor conflict of sorts but if ~whatever happened~ is enough for anyone to condemn the party who's side they dont take I'd have to say they have some issues they should sort out.
Wait wait, am I reading that right? They're being called jerks because one of their crew went to get back a sign that someone else gave away without their consent? What?
This does not at all seem like something the yogscast would do. I'm not sure, but I think Notch and the yogscast may have trolled us. This then possibly turned into a feeding ground for trolls, who claim to have proof. IF this is true, I have to say I feel rather conflicted.

Exactly, so let's just end this thread and resume tomorrow when hopefully the Yogscast has responded to the matter and the truth can be decided.
Well, the mods maybe should keep discussion on this closed down until the Yogscast has their say. That would be more fair than what is currently going on.
Kind of fun to toss a dozen posts about reasoning on here though.
He used masturbation jokes in our videos, but then criticises us for using old footage with swearing in, when we have limited resources to edit the footage in Vegas, and also neither Mojang nor IGN gave us any guidelines as to what we were and weren't allowed to do - the people in the panel and on the livestream chose to come and see us - so you'd think they'd know swearing is likely.
We did about six hours of signings and photos in general - no kid or parent complained to us about swearing.
I won't say more as Lewis' v-log will expose everything in wonderfully high definitioned rage, so give us a few days to get our thoughts in order.
-Hannah, in the post she removed in their forums
Just thought I would remind you guys.
Do you think Notch has seen this?
It's possible he's seen this, I don't see why not.
In my opinion, there's a difference between making masturbation jokes and swearing on Youtube - where generally the people who watch Yogscast videos are already expecting that sort of stuff - and doing something in a live public event, where people may have no idea who you are and have no idea what sort of content to expect from you. The Yogscast assuming that people going to their panel will know who they are is a bit of inflated ego, imho.
Whatever. As Hannah says, there'll be some rage-filled response to this by the Yogscast that will either somewhat rectify the situation (because at this point I don't think ANYONE is going to be happy) or completely butcher the Yogscast's image; I don't think they can really do much to hurt Notch at this point. So we'll see that probably in a day or two.

They aren't trolling us given Hannah's post and what TotalBiscuit has said. Not anymore than Notch was trolling us with the Minecraft ending prose (which some people thought). This sort of trolling would only do damage to all parties.
Wait wait, am I reading that right? They're being called jerks because one of their crew went to get back a sign that someone else gave away without their consent? What?
Well, for one thing the sign wasn't theirs.
EDIT: reading the reddit post again, it was a yogscast sign that was removed? In that case nevermind. I thought it was the actual "Activate Minecraft" sign that was taken.
Honestly, I'm kind of glad this happened. Hopefully it will pull those two away from making minecraft videos so I don't see so many god damn dwarfs on SMP. It's getting annoying. Stupid fanboys.
I just want to add into this that this must be a cultural thing. We in the UK use swear words in everyday life. Like 60 years ago saying to someone "Screw You" was a swear word it is no longer... just like the word "****" times are changing.
"A High Court judge has ruled that people should not be punished for hurling obscenities in public because such words are now so common they no longer cause distress." from a UK judge.
That's the UK. The US, unfortunately, is different, and everyone gets all pissy when you say...well, hell, just saying "pissy" can get you in trouble. Regardless, though, Yogscast should have at least tried to be a little more family-friendly at a convention where there would be a lot of kids. Not saying that Notch is justified in his tweets, but Yogscast should try to actually care about public opinion and all.

Can Notch really call the copyright card and get their videos off Youtube? Yes or no?
Hypothetically, yes. He can make the argument that they are not representing his product well and thus could pull them down. However, I feel like that would be a VERY **** move on his part, and he wouldn't have anything to gain from it.

If all this really is true, then I think Notch, and the Yogscast, need to calm down. This is being blown WAY out of proportion. I've been through worse fights with my best freind.

When all the Zenimax vs Majong stuff started, Notch went to twitter, posted a bunch of tweets and off went the internet, jumping around, throwing Bethesda with stones and cursing them, never even knowing the full story of the trademarks and why Zenimax as a company had to react.
Now the exact same has happened to Yogscast. Notch post a few tweets, people start spreading the word and before you know it, you got a army of angry people that don't even know half of the story yet.
Even if Yogscast is guilty of all this, Notch is being very unprofessional in dealing with this, the same he did with the lawsuit. Transparency is great, as fans love to hear the what their favourite game's creator is working on, like to do or find interesting, but there is also something as to much transparency.
If Notch continue with dealing with this on such a manner, the most you will hear of him in the future is in the subject of Public Relations on "The Limitations of Transparency".
I love how people are rushing to yogscast's defense and attributing all sorts of motives to them like "they didn't mean it" and all this **** that they can't possibly know.
So I'm going to go ahead and make some assumptions too. Simon and Lewis are a bunch of aspergers-inflicted assholes who didn't know how to interact with people prior to minecon, probably showed up to their panel drunk, and will pay for it in the sense that they won't ever be invited to anything Mojang-related ever again. Everything Notch said was probably spot on (since I can't think of a single instance when Notch hasn't been completely candid with everyone on his Twitter), and consequently they deserve every ounce of criticism.
Most telling is what Notch said about hate, insults, and threats flowing in from Yogscast fans, which definitely tips me off about which community is on the mark on this one.
