How does free to play even make sense in a game with no subscription? I could understand 0x10c having a free to play option (if there is still plans to make parts of it require a sub) but with Minecraft you buy it once and that's it.

Now if people want the game itself for free, and legally there is one logical option. Use a service like Trialpay and monetize the game by letting people get it for free once they complete enough offers. True, that won't necessarily help some of the younger set but it is an option.

Pay $20 for a stack of diamonds. Pay $5 for 10 levels. Uberpower in a month, can't be killed because you're a super donator.

Well in my opinion it shouldn't be free because it'll end up like one of those free to play games out there,got ruined by daily trolls and hackers who only do it for fun.

Public multiplayer would be ruined, people could just register new accounts everytime they got banned. There already is an open free trial of minecraft for them to play.

Minecraft is worth MUCH more than what you pay for it. Not because it is fun, but because of the built up money. Observe:

Lets say a movie is $7. That movie is 2 hours long. Doing the math, 1 hour of that movie is $3.50. Watching it only once or twice, which is about average times watched would give you an average of $10.50. So, that movie is worth only a little more than paid for.

Minecraft is $26.95. It has not time limit. People who play Minecraft usually play it for hours. People play it hundreds of times. You get more than $200 dollars from it.

So... Make it pay to win? I'm not even sure how that would work on servers... LOLNOPE

Why should this game become free? 1. It would reduce expenses for devs and it would become harder to update. 2. We already Paid!

Free to play games only work because they have some sort of revenue-generating scheme going on. I don't really see how that would work in Minecraft, beyond the selling of custom capes (which would be a token amount of money at most).

It is never going to be a Free to play game, it is already to deep in profits that the only way it can go is up. Why make it free for all the crap people with no lives to ruin ours.

Just like somebody said before, they aren't just going to cut revenue out.
