For example, 1.9's prerelease. With potionmaking, he ripped off PotionCraft in some ways. Notch even made a manchild of himself when the creator of PotionCraft sent him an email. (Link: http://twitter.com/#!/notch/status/123677995264245760 )
I can't say I remember Notch saying that their ideas were 100% unique before...
Although, that raises an interesting question. If a modder has their work put into the official game - whether or not it's with their blessing - shouldn't they be glad that something they created actually made it into a live game?

-100 faith in Minecraft.
I mean, not wholly stolen from some mods, but some of the aspects.

Well, I do think he should at least receive a small bit of credit.
Notch made a man-child out of himself? Yea, by posting a comment on hate-mail, that guy who sent it = 100% mature right? Also, you can't say something like potions is copying, that's like saying if I made a game with squares it rips off minecraft.

Well take consideration of ALL the mods that have been made for MC. Then politely ask notch to included content that is in no way attributed or related to ANY mod that has ever been released.
I cannot honestly think of single thing that he could add that wouldn't 'infringe' on someone else's ideas. Besides, were talking about a sandbox game, eventually more then 1 person will think alike and want to make it 'official' and not 'stealing'. Take 4 million minds, take less then 2% of them who can code, sure enough that 2% will probably come up with something that Notch/Jeb would have thought of as well. The odds aren't staggering to make that impossible.

Nono, I mean the way he titled the email. "This guy is a loser" just made him look bad. I don't agree that the guy who sent it is mature either, more-so making himself look like a very disgruntled thirteen year old.

Notch and Jeb never even heard of Potioncraft before that email, apparently. That email was just trolling.

I'm not opposed to a nod in their general direction, sure. But I just don't feel like anyone has the right to e-rage if their idea was [allegedly] implemented in the game proper without their blessing.
well claiming that it was notch's own idea to add some features from mods is wrong. People who modded some of the features wich are atted in future may need need some credit for giving idea for notch. But i think that noone should be mad adding them in the game, after all they are really cool features and well, for example the cauldron, if someone makes mod wich includes it does it make cauldron a copy-righted feature :sleep.gif:?
Cauldron was already there in a different mod, so no, it wouldn't of.
As long as notch does not copy the code, he is free to do what he wants. He can add guns and you will say that he copied 'More Weapons mod' or w/e... He can't do **** without it already been done.
Because potions are the most original idea ever thought up, and Notch is obviously theiving the idea. (end sarcasms)
I don't understand how people can say 'stop worshipping notch' then turn right around and worship modders.
Also, could someone clarify how Notch the childish one? That email seems to be a simulation of the discusion board's topics. No actual content, just 'waa! I have an entitlement complex'! If you're going to send something with that kind of screaming nonsense and not expect some kind of mockery, you haven't been on the internet long enough.
Hyper, scroll up. Somewhere up there I posted something about them both looking bad, since Notch was blatantly entitling the E-mailer a loser.

Not mad at all, just wondering if it was the right thing for Notch to do is all.
So.. If u don't like it- DO NOT create mods :smile.gif:
Im not saying he shouldn't do ideas of modders, I'm just saying he should give them a small tiny bit of credit, Maybe their name in a long list of credited people or something when the game fully releases.

You prove a good point.

I only heard of dragons being planned.

I hate it when people say that.
He was posting an example of hate-mail he gets. That's fairly common.
either way, i was just being sarcastic. I want horses in vanilla soooo bad. I can imagine the frustration on the modders part.
