Someone decided to actually make a suggestion on LEGO Cuusoo about LEGO Minecraft. I didn't even know this existed, but a lot of My ideas exist in this link and I suggest you register for an account and support it. I mean, 10k support. Like an f'n legion.
But no seriously, show some support, as LEGO can make this real if the interest in it exists.
This should totally be done, and I am surprised the people behind BuckyBalls or some other toy manufacturer hasn't done it yet.
So what do you think it should come with? My best guess for a starter set would be:
384 dirt
128 dirt + grass
512 stone
128 brick
128 wood pieces
32 stairs of each type (wood, stone, brick)
32 half-blocks of each type (wood, stone, brick)
256 pink "No texture" blocks (with accompanying "Place texture here" text)
1 human player (w/ moving arms and legs)
3 creepers
3 zombies
3 endermen
3 large spiders
3 cave spiders
3 pigs
3 sheep
3 cows
1 iron sword attachment for player
1 iron shovel attachment for player
1 iron pickaxe attachment for player
1 iron axe for player
1 full set of iron armor for player
1 256x256 magnetic board
Other pieces would then come in sets: ForestCraft, DesertCraft, MushroomCraft, NetherCraft, FarmCraft, WoolCraft etc. etc.
You should copyright the idea and get permission from mojang to continue with this idea.
I wouldn't even know where to begin. :tongue.gif:
And also, Mojang can have all the rights for all I care, it was just some derpy idea I came up with at 2 in the morning. The key obstacle would be the choking hazard.
It'd be ok while waiting for something like what the guy said to come out, but it wasn't quite what we all had in mind. It's still cool though. :laugh.gif:

BUTTEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEERRRRRRR
OKay, so now I see we all like it, let's face reality: Cost.
To make the kinds of structures you see in a typical game of Minecraft, they have to be pretty strong magnets. As Minecraft is a sandbox game, it would also ship with no rules (except the blatantly obvious CHOKING HAZARD label), and minimal instructions for assembly. Unless a website that leads to linked instructions would exist on the box itself, there would be money on paper spent, making it look all pro, etc.
So how much will this cost? There needs to be different assemblies for blocks themselves (which would be a plastic-encased neodymium rare-earth magnet) and the entities, possibly for stairs too, which would have magnets on the bottom.
The reason I was being rather frugal with the amount of blocks in my first post is because I was putting all of this cost into consideration. And it would fly in the face of the game, which would be you exploring around and finding these resources, to make into stuff for your home, your big build, your whatever. Then again, this is suppose to be children's toy, allowing them to slap together some blocks, since lots of little ones wouldn't be able to experience the game otherwise.
Then there is the lack of fluids. Sure, if the blocks had a rubber coating along the edges, it might hold water, but don't hold your breath. More likely, a separate kit for fluids would exist. Then what about waterfalls? It would be a big mess, which is why fluids were not put into consideration.
Finally, would Mojang do it for merch, and how much will it cost us for them to not break even, but profit and make more? And would parents who don't know a thing about Minecraft buy it? That's a macroeconomic consideration lots of people more experience in the field of marketing would have a field day with.
For this to come true, it would take money, and user commitment. Just like the game. And would you buy it if it were more expensive than the game itself?

Hell, maybe it is just me, but I would buy it even if it cost $60 for that set. Just simply owning them in the first place is epic.

I am the bone of my sword
Steel is my body, and fire is my blood
I have created over a thousand blades
Unknown to death, Nor known to life
Have withstood pain to create many weapons
Yet, those hands will never hold anything
So as I pray, Unlimited Blade Works

Think it would be possible? Financially viable?
that is awesome
Meh... legos don't have the same feel, or look, as Minecraft. And those connectors will stick out.
Using a magnet system allows for the pieces to interconnect, and make perfect squares. Also, looks more minecraft-y.
I wouldn't even know where to begin. :tongue.gif:

You used an image that was deleted or moved. Fix it. :smile.gif:
That's not the same as he was describing.

I gave suggestions in the first post. Don't be lazy and read up. :smile.gif:
