It's hard waiting around for something that you know might never happen; but it's even harder to give up when you know it's everything you ever wanted.
To me I feel a bit bad, I wish i could get the expansions for free. But if Notch wants it like this then there is no one to stop him. I mean come on, when was the last time a group of people influenced Notch's ideas?
look, minecraft cost next to nothing to buy in Beta . . . patches and updates are free till the completion of the main game. DLC is optional and couldn't be any more expensive than a pizza and a coke, or a movie ticket. So whats the big deal? Any other game is going to set you back 5 times or more?
Haters are gunna hate, and people who feel like they are being ripped are going to complain. whereas i'm off to enjoy playing minecraft that cost next to nothing! awaiting the 1.8 adventure update, which as it happens will be free for me even with a beta account. :tongue.gif:
ok sorry for asking but i just want to get up to speed on things. so me being an alpha buyer will not have to pay for dlc because i bought it during alpha?

You shall get all bug fixes and DLC (If any) for free.
I mean seriously a bunch of Alpha buyers come I. And start screaming that they need special treatment and BING it's there. Cmon us Beta buyers did stuff right?
It would all be ok if the DLC is stuff like the Aeather and only coast $5.
All I have to say is that the Aether isn't DLC. There is no official DLC for Minecraft. There are some mods that cost money but none of that goes to Notch. Minecraft is and will always be free. How about you check a few of Notch's tweets.
There isn't even any guarantee that there will be DLC, just a vague possibility of it. Ya'll are arguing over something that MAY, or MAY NOT come into existence after release. Notch has made so much money off Minecraft as IS that if he wanted to he could EASILY stop development right NOW if he wanted to and elevate the game to Release status.
Everyone here got the game for less then those at retail will. Be happy with that.
The reason Beta buyers aren't promised the same things as Alpha buyers is legal, not because Notch loves you less for showing up later or whatever else may be running through your head. Alpha buyers were promised all the Minecraft updates ever for free, forever. When Mojang was formed, Notch's legal advisor got understandably nervous, so the TOS was changed. Notch can't really change what Alpha buyers get; that doesn't mean Beta buyers will necessarily be treated differently. The new TOS merely provides provisions to charge for later updates if Notch/Mojang desires. The TOS says that legally you can be treated differntly, not that you necessarily will be.
Stupid people say stupid things. Sometimes smart people say stupid things too. It's when the stupid people say smart things that life gets interesting.
I never understood internet arguments. Even if you do convince them that your point of view is correct (which is very unlikely) what would happen then? Not much.

Agreed. People use you brains probably most of the games sales are beta. Why would notch make the beta buyers angry and he made alot of money on the game why would he need to make more on DLC. He will still make money by the sale of the actutal game.

AHAHAHAHAHAHAOH-OH-HUE HAH HAHAHAHAHA
you sir deserve an internet, a diamond and a notch head
it is fair because pre-order people get some previliges that normal people dont, it's no-body's fault, it is what it is, you didnt make it to being an alpha, so ****ing what? you still have the game and you should be happy about it, also, why are you so butt-mad about theoretical previliges that might or might not come, also i could care less if suddenly, all alpha previliges would disapper, its not like im losing anthing, im just not getting an extra.
and last but not least
who the **** necro posted this thread?

what do we live for if you die in the end?
why do we have to clean our room even though it will get messy after a week?
why do we have to shower if we will end up messy in a day?
why should we put clothes on if we get them off in a few hours?
what for do we eat tasty food if we only need food to sustain our life, which will end anyways?
why is your head in your ass when you can get it out of there and think like a normal person?
I do think it's kind of ********. The price of Minecraft is already so high. It's entirely possible that with DLC, Beta purchasers could end up paying up to $30, maybe more for this thing...
I got Minecraft in Alpha, but I do feel bad for those who picked it up in Beta. There's no difference between Notch's "Alpha" and "Beta" except what he decides to charge for the game which is pretty messed up in my opinion.
Then again, I'm not surprised at all. The world is full of greed, and I can't say I expected anything less from Notch.
Well maybe you could ask him to revoke those privileges, then? Seeing as it's creating a pointless rift within the community, sparking flame wars, etc. And you don't really even want the special status, right? Riiiight?
Yeah, thought so.
Seeing as you are the only one to complain about it from what I have seen..where is this rift? I honestly dont mind having to buy expansions
Oh, and complaining about Notch's charging different price..well that is supply and demand..the demand is skyrocketing so he is charging more money...he will make more, he will be able to get more workers to help improve minecraft even more...its not like all the money is going right to him. He has employees that help with development that need to be paid. Would you be upset if you made the same amount of money at a job you've been working at for years?
This seems to be the general attitudes of people in this thread:
Majority of alpha buyers have some form of superiority complex, and feel like they're better than everybody else because they bought the game earlier.
Majority of beta buyers are whiny people with no money, because obviously they can't afford to pay a couple bucks for optional DLC that we don't even know how much will cost.
And then a few people who don't care, and are trying to end this argument.

The little stuff we are getting added now in Beta isn't DLC. They are parts of the final game so of course they don't cost money.
THIS!
IS!

Same here, I couldn't care less as long as it's not expensive...

Just thought I'd throw that out there.
