This is extraordinarily insightful and neat! As an LDS person, I avoid attacking people unless they are attacking me or someone else that has not provoked them. I also don't steal.
For a long period of time I thought I was the only religious person that avoided doing certain things in games (drinking, drugs, etc). As you said, whether it is to prove the rules are good or because it is wired in I don't quite know, I just feel it's right and closer to God.
As far as brewing and enchanting goes: Magic in my opinion (not sure about other LDS) does not exist, so I don't mind. Brewing is like making medicine to me, so that's fine too.
The Nether is kind of funny. I still am confused as to whether hell is entirely a state of mind, a place, or some mixture of it (nonetheless seriously evil people like serial killers, molesters, etc will have their punishment). I consider the Nether to be a place under the bedrock so I don't mind going there.
Thank you for your amazing and nothing-less-than-insightful post.
This topic made me smile. While not particularly religious myself, I think it's awesome that people do this sort of thing. And some of those creations are simply astounding, keep on having fun bros!
Finally i saw a decent religious thread that, luckily hasnt lead to any flamewar...
Alhamdullilah..... appreciate your unique way of playing minecraft....Although I accept itz really prohibited to eat pork, but on the other side, Minecraft is also just a game, not real-life. So i play it as usual as always while ignoring whatever I eat.
And I am not sure wheather its a good idea to mix our religion with Minecraft, But Allah only looks at our intentions...I hope u get it Solomon....
Ps: Hows life as a Muslim in the Americas? do u find more muslims there? Are there ample mosques too?

I'm glad you enjoyed the post, even if it wasn't your style of gaming, and I'm glad you understood it's purpose.

It's your choice to play the game however you like. As I said, I don't believe we're required to follow the rules in games at all, I'm just doing it for my own reasons, mostly entertainment and curiosity.
And it is said that we should always remember Allah in everything we do, which of course should include gaming. Being a Muslim is a way of life, and it's who I am, so naturally it will affect everything I do, serious or not. Inshallah we all will.
I live in South South Texas. If any place is racist, it's probably here, and to be honest I don't encounter a lot of racism on a day to day basis. Even my sisters who wear Hijabs only get a scoff or two here very rarely, and for the most part people seem to be understanding and accepting. Although I may have a biased opinion, as I am just entering college and therefor mostly interact with younger people, who are usually much more open-minded than adults.
There are tons of mosques in big cities, and plenty in the small ones. It's no trouble finding a Muslim community to be a part of. I hope life is just as easy wherever you reside.
Sallam.

Hello? Eat my tarts? In this cosmic dance of bursting decadence, withheld permissions twist all our arms collectively. But if sweetness can win- and it can- then I'll still be here tomorrow to high five you yesterday my friend. Peace.
For the topic creator, you've done some really nice work there and have made a multitude of ways to forfill your religious needs ingame, which is also nice. Without reading the last 48 pages, have you faced any hatred/racism/religious-ism(is that a word?) in minecraft that forced you to leave a server or consider stopp playing?
I have thought about adding a Minecraft religious to my game, just to make it more interesting and fun to play, but I'm thinking I'm going to go with industrial craft or something along those lines.
I love this idea. Props to you for not only carrying through with your goal, but coming up with it in the first place! Your mosques look pretty awesome as well. Are you trying to make them match real-life structurally or visually? I know clay blocks make nice walls as far as appearance goes, but if you're trying to match up construction materials that would be a bad idea I think.
I'm definitely going to make a new world and incorporate Christian elements into the playstyle. Well, I suppose I should say Missionary Christian since I'm a missionary right now. Like trying to find villages and improving their standard of living. Building a church and giving offerings every seven days, not killing any livestock or mining or harvesting on the 7th day (a good day to do my Good Samaritan deeds!).
Has anybody tried a world modeled after Leviticus? The whole "Do not harvest the corners of your fields", no eating pigs, all sacrificial animals must be at least 8 days old, etc. I don't see myself doing it, but I'd be interested in hearing if other people have done this successfully.

Somebody earlier used the word faithism.
Note to OP: Technically, not all bacon is pork. In the context of this game it is, since it comes from pigs, but here in Africa we have beef and chicken bacon sold in just about every supermarket. I think the guy that suggested that was trolling though.
That is a really cool idea. I think you should create a custom map with islamic Mosques, Mecca, Madinah, and other stuff. You should also create a new texture pack with the moon changing every day.

I actually began making a 1:1 scale map of mecca, or rather started on just Al Masjid Al Haram. (The Mosque surrounding and containing the Kaaba.) But I just didn't have time for it, especially because I'm working on an adventure map now. (Also, I wanted to get the geography at least close, which is very hard to do without using WE or anything.)
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it, although it has slowed down.

but its nice to see such enlightened views on Islam and religion in general, Hollywood has pretty much stereo typed Islam and Arabs and even Christians into something they are not.... glad to see that effect is waring off.
as a Muslim myself I don't generally play "religiously" but yes I don't like killing anything I'm not gonna use or eat and i don't hurt villagers (unless they bug out) and I just hate griefing unless players agree to it (they want some nice TNT bow/sword trap wars :D), but all in all I play games to vent my enormous ego, and i usually just make massive castles near towns and expand them and make a port and a light house and place myself as their lord and king :P.
Well first off let me say that I am not a religious person. I do in fact like all religions but I find it meaningless to me. You sir on the other hand have found a way to combine videogames with your religion and that is Creating outside the box! This is amazing and goes to show that If you think of something you can build it and have it help you. Congratz and hope it's running very smoothly.
Removed because google sucks at translating.

lol, It's not taking it seriously, it's called adding flavour to the game. Yea, it might be a flavour you don't like but... XD
Being a Muslim, i would make a crescent shaped moon or something...
On a more serious note...

Sadly, 90% simply ignore this
There are ample mosques and I am free to practice my religion!
i'm not going to lie by saying there's not any racism, but
Canada is great
