You are nothing but white knighting, brown nosing trolls.
I've basically ignored this game for the last two months, and coming back to it, I find that it is less stable than when it was in Alpha. Clipping/rendering problems, out of memory crashes, bugs in the ridiculous rendering spam that Notch has kept adding to the game. Those aren't the worst part, though. Want to know what is?
It's the fact that the only people who keep this game worth playing at all are the mod developers, and every single time it gets updated, Notch gives them the middle finger. They have to go through another round of obfuscation, as well as deal with whatever other incompatibility has been added.
So we lose amazing, game-changing mods like Minefactory/Minecolony, Build/Steam/Industrial/PlasticCraft, all because Notch wants to either add new bugs to the rendering engine, destroy existing functionality which people find valuable, or add single-item, inane, 4 year old crap like birthday cakes or wolves.
Go and have even a cursory look inside the modding forum, and then come back here and tell me that the level of creativity coming out of Mojang, is even 5% of what the mod community are displaying. I suspect that Notch would barely be adding new content to this game at all if it wasn't for what they are doing, even while he continues to use obfuscation to make their lives more difficult.
I also was wondering how long it would take, but today it has finally happened. I've been playing and tracking changes since before Halloween, but as of right now, I am downgrading to 1.5_01, in order to take advantage of Minefactory and BuildCraft; and I have no idea when I will be upgrading again; probably never.
I'm fed up with the bugs, I'm fed up with the nerfs, and I'm fed up with the non-content. It has gone on for long enough.
Why should Notch, add more support for modders. Because he makes them not work after an update? WELL DEAL WITH IT. This game is in beta. It is not released yet. Expect lots of updates and bug fixes. You must be happy that you can play this game while it's not even finished. And you don't need to update. You can just use an older version.
Are Mojang paying you? It sounds like it. As I said previously, you are doing nothing but white knighting.
People only tell you not to complain when you make topics like this. Your complaining only gives them an excuse to moan at you. So just deal with it. :cool.gif:

ORRRRRR. You could shut the **** up, stop whining, and realize for a second that none of the mod creators HAVE to create mods. Notch is about to release Modding API so it makes it easier on mod developers, even though it's HIS game, and he doesn't HAVE to do **** for us. You know nothing about how games are made. You add ****, add more ****, and when you're done adding ****, you fix ****. BUG FIXING IS LAST. ALWAYS. That's how it works. You are playing a game BEFORE IT'S EVEN RELEASED. Notch knows about all the bugs, and he will fix them..... WHEN he is done adding features. So until then, Shut the **** up and stop whining like a little *****.
EDIT: Excuse my language.... Tired of 13 year old's who think they should get everything they want and now.
OP, abondon this thread, like really. I never ever once saw such a thread come to a good end, since people completely ignore you point and either yell 'BETA!' or 'DEAL WITH IT LOL'
The few reasonable people who could get a good point across ignore these threads because of the above mentioned people.
didn't we agree in the therms that any losses of saves and anything else with minecraft is possible and not monjangs fault?
and, didn't we also agree that they have all the rights of minecraft and that they can do whatever they want with it?
and I know this has been said before, but it still is beta. we are here to test minecraft and report the bugs to mojang so we can help improve the game before it is fully released
Yes, we did. Does that give anyone the right to completely destroy all possibilities for a normal discussion, or a smart answer, and yell 'BETA STOP WHINING' instead?

How about you set an example for all the other people and not start an argument? Just ignore them. Maybe seeing a mature poster will show them the error of their ways.

There could be a normal discussion going on instead of some dicks telling the op why he shouldnt make this thread.

I think people are just sick and tired of all of the terrible posts on the Discussion board, and so they think the only way to get rid of bad posters is to yell and curse at them.
Don't worry, Mike. There are some good posters out there.
You are nothing but white knighting, brown nosing trolls.
An excellent start. That is certainly a way to get people on your side, directly insult them. Good work. By the way that's sarcasm. It's more likely to polarize people against you.
I find that it is less stable than when it was in Alpha. Clipping/rendering problems, out of memory crashes, bugs in the ridiculous rendering spam that Notch has kept adding to the game.
I've not noticed any of this. In fact I recently rolled back to alpha 1.2.5 because I wanted to see how things have changed and I found quite the opposite.
Those aren't the worst part, though. Want to know what is?
Not really, no. But you are going to tell us anyway.
It's the fact that the only people who keep this game worth playing at all are the mod developers, and every single time it gets updated, Notch gives them the middle finger.
First, that is clearly a subjective opinion. Personally I find very few mods intriguing, and even fewer that I've ever bothered to install. As for updates, the other option would be:
use the same obfuscation: this seems reasonable, but then you have mods from 1.5 that modify core classes in 1.7 and basically regress bugfixes made to those classes. Then you have the people who "can't live without mods" complaining that bugs weren't fixed when they clearly were, because those bugs were reintroduced when you reinstalled a mod. And that is even assuming the old version of the class has all the methods the new version of the game uses on that class. If the new version of a class adds any new methods or fields that are used anywhere, then you'd be ****ed. The game would blackscreen, and naturally Mojang would be at fault for "breaking mod compatibility" even though there is no official mod support at all and therefore no "compatibility" to retain.
Or- you could- and I know, this is crazy right- just not update. Aside from the changes they document they do make numerous bugfixes as well, and they often change the world generator with minor tweaks, like that version that seemed to nearly double the amount of iron on newly generated terrain. I've seen a few of those mods (plasticcraft, industrialcraft), and they were cool, but I felt they made things a tad too complicated. Some people like that; I personally do not.
Go and have even a cursory look inside the modding forum, and then come back here and tell me that the level of creativity coming out of Mojang, is even 5% of what the mod community are displaying.
yeah, toilet paper, **** blocks and super **** blocks. Yeah that's definitely creative, isn't it. For every "amazing, creative mod" that is released there is another mod released by an idiot that doesn't work, works improperly, or completely changes the balance of the game so it's pointless to play at all.
I suspect that Notch would barely be adding new content to this game at all if it wasn't for what they are doing, even while he continues to use obfuscation to make their lives more difficult.
He is using obfuscation to protect his livelihood, actually, since java code get's decompiled to pretty much what it was on compilation. Obfuscation changes variable, method, and class names. The only reason it takes so long is because the people doing it are doing it in their spare time, not because the obfuscation is difficult to overcome.
OK. Have fun. (PS: dunno about buildcraft, but Minefactory has an unofficial update for 1.6.6).(Although I'm not sure how a mod can ever be associated with the word "official"....)
I'm fed up with the bugs, I'm fed up with the nerfs, and I'm fed up with the non-content. It has gone on for long enough.
I H-A-T-E all these useless topics complaining about complainers, or complaining about the complainers of complainers. PLEASE DON'T FILL OUR FORUMS WITH ANY MORE OF THESE TRASH TOPICS!

I'm sorry you don't like the new items, but the majority does. That's why notch puts them in the game silly!
Notch released pistons and sheers early because the community told him to. Sounds like a good dev to me.
So, you can play your outdated mods, and the rest of us will enjoy the adventure update, the coming full release, and all the content after that!
Hopefully you'll see the errors of your ways on 11/11/11.

Stopped reading there. Your post serves no purpose other than to bait trolls and flame other users for no reason.
Everyone has a right to complain, but excessive complaining about a beta is unnecessary and to be honest, quite stupid in the end.
Complaining about other complainers is also not productive in the least.
