Just imagine, when you look at the sun, a lens flare effect will appear and when you put your character or you look at a tree and you saw some sun light come in the jungle tree. In front of the sun, you can see those sun rays appear. This should be an option to turn on or off. It would make minecraft cool. I Know They Did This In HD Shades Mod but they add without the mod. Notch Should add this in the next update of minecraft. This will be one awesome idea.
Okay... What will it look like? How big is the flare? Can you adjust the size or intensity of it? Will it be exactly like the one in the shader you mentioned, or will it have minor or major tweaks?

I guess i make exactly like the shades HD Mod. And Here What It Will Look Like:http://imgur.com/V3X4OpV I Do Not Know About The Flare Size. i Think of it soon and adjust the size=no

You realize, that's a shader, and shaders aren't graphically friendly.
Ugh no thank you. Lens flares don't make sense in 95% of the games they are used in, and are just a cheap, lazy way of adding a "cool" factor. It is just lazy design.

Simply put, we do not need this. Minecraft isn't exactly a graphics-intensive game without mods, and there's already enough processing power being put into having an unfixed world that changes constantly. We do not need extra visual features, especially ones taken directly from mods.
1. Already available in shaders mod.
2. This will absolutely KILL the game on anyone who has an older computer. Even running Intel shaders my laptop barely even gets 20FPS.
no support. It's redundant, and if really want it we can get Shaders.

This. A large portion of the community simply can't run shaders as they're far too intensive.
Even though I don't support this topic, did anyone notice the part where it said "this is an option you can turn on and off"?
Presumably it will be set to off as default.

True. But as we all know. Something being optional doesn't make an idea any better. I'm personally not concerned about the performance decrease, I just don't think it makes any sense for there to be a lens flare in a game where you are playing a person, not a camera on a stick.

I know, I think the idea is unfitting at best, but seeing people pulling the "low end PC" card when it was clearly shown as an optional thing ticked me off. It's like if you said that the Fancy option should be removed because not all computers handle it well.

What if this shader was just another shader accessed through the "Super Secret Settings" button rather than a dedicated option? In that case, it wouldn't be too unlike minecraft, because there are already some weird shaders accessed through that button (things like "wobble", "spider", etc.).

People play minecraft because its not intense on your hardware, you can literally have a potato with a monitor jammed in it and still be able to scrape 10 FPS.
Ugh no thank you. Lens flares don't make sense in 95% of the games they are used in, and are just a cheap, lazy way of adding a "cool" factor. It is just lazy design.
Do Not Call A Sun Flare Lazry. I Got the idea from the shades. 100% Minecraft with these will look like a real minecraft.
'it's optional' One of the worst things you can say about a bad idea.
Eeeeeexcept this is a graphic option, so it would be perfectly reasonable to have it as an option.
It's not like saying "Oh yeah, you can make this mob/pick/ore/item optional from the menu dur hur hur!"

That would be cool, but very laggy, and it wouldn't be right for this style of game. I know you would be able to turn it off, but it would just be too laggy.
Also, Notch doesn't work with minecraft anymore.

Your argument is valid, but you could work on your critiquing.
1. Already available in shaders mod. It's against the rules to say that this is in a mod.
2. This will absolutely KILL the game on anyone who has an older computer. Even running Intel shaders my laptop barely even gets 20FPS.

'They did this in the HD shades mod'. HD. All I need to say.
It's against the rules to say that there is a mod for this.
'This will be one awesome idea'. Nice self-enthusiasm. But not everybody thinks so.
A rookie mistake that he won't make again.
'lens flare'. Remember, we are not a camera. We are a person with a cubic head.
This is true.
I imagined, it would get in the way of my buildings.
'This should be an option that is turned on and off'. Judging by the replies, most people will have it off. Also, nice rewording of 'it's optional'. One of the worst things you can say about a bad idea.
You say that "it is optional" is the worst excuse. But this isn't true. I mean, it is overused, but it is true. I mean, imagine if someone suggested peaceful mode. A lot of people would say that is way too OP. So, to defend it, they would say it is optional. Then people like you would say that is a stupid reply.
My point it, that that isn't always a bad argument. It's just overused.
And in case anyone is wondering, I still don't support the idea, and I'm, not defending it. I just have some things to say to people who commented.

Do you mean that it will make minecraft realistic? I'm just saying this for your own good, that is probably one of the worst arguments you can use on here.
As other people have said, this would be very graphically-intensive, and doesn't really fit the game. Because it's so demanding, it should be optional. Not even an option in-game; it'd do a lot better as a mod. Wait a minute...
You realize, that's a shader, and shaders aren't graphically friendly.
