Introducing the Mod Switch! Love playing with your favorite mods? A mod switch would make it easy to enable and disable most popular mods such as the Tornado Mod, Herobrine, Guns, Cars, The Aether, and many other popular mods right from the main menu!
Mojang and modders could work together to make a mod switch into vanilla minecraft. That way, players can easily use mods without the HUGE hassle of researching mods, learning how to install them, finding the right site to download from, finding the RIGHT DOWNLOAD ON THE PAGE, getting lost halfway in the installation, messing up, and often finding the mods isn't working and ending up with a truckload of viruses and garbage programs stuck on your computer. ----> Why do this if you could do it with the click of a button?
If you want to make this awesome dream a reality, support this idea until Mojang sees it and possibly adds it in.
I could definitely use some support and or constructive feedback on this idea. Has anyone thought of this already? Please tell in comments. Don't hate too much!

No thanks. There are better things for Mojang to spend their time on. Also, Minecraft isn't just for you; I'm sure more than a handful of people don't use those mods, or any mods at all (myself included) and they should direct their efforts towards features EVERYONE would enjoy, more than just a few thousand.

Ever heard of the mod API? It's more or less this.
Although technically it's the plugin API.
You're right, but a built in function in vanilla would be way easier than a modloader that you have to download.
Many minecraft players don't download mods because often their parents don't let them, or they are afraid they'll mess something up.
It would be simpler to just add a switch to the main menu to enable mods.
You're explaining WHAT should happen but not really HOW it should happen... I do support your suggestion, but maybe it would be better if you knew the HOW and the WHAT instead of only the WHAT.
I'm saying that Mojang and modders will work together to add the mods into Minecraft's code, along with their toggle switches.

I totally see your point. I myself don't use mods. But mods are really popular, and could add a ton of variety to the game. Did you know that pistons were actually once a mod? Nowadays they are everywhere in Minecraft. Mojang and the modder worked together and POOF, Pistions entered Minecraft! See where this is going?
I would like this, and it seems to be part of the mod API coming out, but it doesn't really seems necessary.
Thank you for liking this idea. Maybe a built in mod loader isn't
completely necessary. But if you think about it, no
suggestions are completely necessary. They just add new things to Minecraft.
I don't think mojang wants you using mods. Now the 1.6 update has a launcher that basically does this, just make a new version as modded. You know what I'm sayin?

There's a mod switch in 1.6?
Anyway, Mojang isn't against mods. They worked with
the maker of the piston mod to add pistons to vanilla minecraft .

Not exactly a switch. You see how you have profiles and versions? Use those to your advantage. Keep a modded and a unmodded profile. Magic Launcher is an alternative option.
By the way, Mojang won't assist you with technical difficulties on a potentially modified client.

Not against mods. Pistons, hoppers, and horses were all originally mods before being added to Vanilla game.
But anyways, this is basically coming out as Mod API. Just instead of toggling a switch you have to actually download the mods.
There's a program called Magic Launcher that lets you do this sort of thing. You can turn mods on and off individually, set up profiles, and more usefully do things like set the startup size of the window and how much memory Minecraft is allowed.

Ok, but that's no reason to not have a mod switch .

I'm not against mods either. I use them myself to enhance my experience. I am just saying that game developers don't always feel how we do.
That was what I was going it. It is basically almost a switch.
