This sounds like a neato idea but theres four changes i'd like to see,
1. instead of just using the batcatcher anywhere, you have to use near bats and have a chance to catch them.
2. Slightly weaker than mushroom stew, because bats are fairly easy to get as long as you have caves around you, and its somewhat common to find a cave within like 10 minutes of exploring.
3. The sacrifice bit, i find it pretty OP since like i said before, bats are fairly easy to get.
4. Weaker durability.

1. You hold it in your hand and use it on bats
2. Ok sounds good
3. Maybe reduce the chances on getting a good sacrifice?
4. Durability is tied to the materials you use to craft it, whats wrong with that?
I am not really for bats having a use, but I will try to make this suggestion better. Maybe you could only sacrafice a bat at a beacon (which would also give the beacon a real use), and it would only grant you one or two levels per bat. This would be an end-game way of getting experience, as you would both have to find a village with the trade option and beat the wither.

Thats a good idea. I might ad it to the OP, very nice!
In all seriousness, I'm not too particularly fond of the idea. The main use of bats within the real world consists of their defecation in a variety of things...as disturbing as that is. If bats had a purpose, I'd like to see it something other than a food source...I think we finally have enough food for a while.

Make them drop a bat carcass upon death for item frames/wear as a helmet?
Hehe, at the end you say "I can't wait for them to add this" like they will add every suggestion. Well, I say it'd be better if you removed the sacrifice, plenty of reasons in the other comments.

Minor dupstep... Doomsday. DUBWUBWUBWUB, WUBDUBDUBDUB, DUMDUMUMDUM, WUBWUBWUBWUB!
You said you cant WAIT for Mojang to implement it. It wont be implemented. You know why?
Becauae there is a 1/1000 chance for Jeb or Dinnerbone to see this and say "We should add this!" plus an extra chance because of creativity. Also, this thread is kind of weird. You eat a live bat, trade it in to villagers for a crazy amount of emeralds, or sacrifice in a beacon to an nonexistent god, which is something I have never seen before. Why would just BATS be able to be sacrificed for crazy amounts of XP. And also crafting recipe please?
Sounds like it might be neat in a mod, though I don't get the whole "sacrifice" bit. I've always seen Beacons less as altars and more pseudomagical devices meant to harness and release the energy of the Nether Star in usable form.
My proposition is that you can now catch bats with a new tool called the "batcatcher"
Its just like any other tool comes in wood cobble iron gold or diamond, except you cant craft it.
You have to buy it of a villager at a price ranging from 1-10 emeralds decided by a random number generator
It has the same uses as the corresponding diamond tool would have
You can simply deploy the batcatcher by placing it in your hand and right clicking a bat
Deploying the batcatcher will result in a 33% chance (1 in 3) that the bat will be captured into your inventory
Once a bat is caught it may either be eaten as a source of food - same as mushroom stew in food terms
It may also be traded with villageres for anwhere between 1-10 emerals, again a random number generator
It may also be sacrificed to the gods at any beacon or jungle temple or desert pyramid
A sacrifice will grant you enough xp levels to reach level 30.
Any ideas on how to improve this? I think i treally has potential and i CANNOT WAIT for Mojang to implemt it
Constructive critiscim only please, thanks guys have agood day!

This is one of your better ideas gypsy, keep this up and you may get a really good one!
Thanks Deonyi!
Just build the darn thing already!

You monster...

Oh yeah, I also HATE bats.
1 in 10? Or lower?
