This is a really good idea, I remember when I crafted my first cauldron. I was annoyed that my infinite water source was more useful and that I wasted iron. I like this idea!

I agree that cauldrons lack a use rather than aesthetics. That iron wouldn't go to waste with the suggestion.
I would make so you could only have healing/speed etc. instead of harming and poison together because it would be too powerfull. You could take a player out with one potion then very easily.
Well, at least consider the decrease of strength and duration done with combining the potions.
I return after a two year hiatus to a good thread. I approve of this and it doesn't diminish the use of brewing stands. My cauldron looks so forlorn in the corner of my house, yes you have my full support.
I like this idea, and it wouldn't be overpowered. The only advantages of using multi-potions over regular potions are saving inventory space and saving time. Both of those two things are only nuisences and provide essentially no challenge. I fully support this idea.
Yes, this will overwrite that nuisance. It would essentially present the player with a choice. Inventory management, or powerful effects? It all depends on the condition the player is on. Thank you for the support.
101% Support. Might just be me but the loss of time almost seem UP, seeing how you could use 3 potions and get better effects without drawback and this requires time and an cauldron. Maybe loosing an an 5ft instead? Also can you brew in redstone/glowstone to make it longer/better after your done? Still really like the idea
Yes, redstone and glowstone may still present those extra boosts.
This is a great idea; it's one of the most logical suggestions I've seen. It's nice to have something for cauldrons other than decoration (and this would improve cauldron decoration too!). This doesn't seem like it would make too much of an OP change to the game and seems perfect for a survival minecrafter.

However, it would be nice if you added something to the suggestion that water dilutes the potion without actually adding effects to it.

For it to be ok, it would not be stronger in any way, meaning that a potion with posion and weakness isn't stronger than using just two potions a poison and weakness potion individually. Lowering stats isn't that great in my mind, it just means the original idea where overpowered.
If combined potions could have a use on its own it could be usefull. It is just that I don't see this as anything other than making something overpowered but trying to balance it with lowering stats

Combined potions do have a use: Gaining inventory space and gaining time by only having to drink/throw one potion. It's convenience. The reason it's overpowered if you don't lower the stats is because then you can fit much more potions into your inventory than you normally would, i.e. there would be no reason not to do it, ever. Its a trade off: Either you sacrifice inventory space, potion duration or redstone. It's your choice. And each person might choose differently. Plus, it gives a cauldrons a use in potions without making them a requirement in making them.

It is convenience at the cost of single potions, therefor combining is always the smart move. Meaning that we would be better of redesigning it all in that mind. Are we even sure that the stats even if lowered shouldn't influence the healthbar and or the attack of the enemy mobs? Have we actually done the math here? Changing things like this means you have to think through every aspect regarding what the potions do influence, and what combined would influence too.
In a stressfull fight, seconds are very deciding, so just little things like convenience can influence the outcome of a fight.
This is a creative and easy to implement idea. I highly support this.

To those of you suggesting new uses for Emeralds in the suggestions forum: Emeralds have enough uses. You can trade with villagers to get diamond armor/tools/weapons and enchants. Stop suggesting that Emeralds are useless, and learn to play Minecraft. Thanks.

It is the will of having the choice to either conserve inventory space, or use the potions efficiently, sacrificing a lot of inventory space. Currently, a single potion with a single potion effect costs you one inventory slot. With this suggestion, you are able to compact three effects into one. The choice is given to the player; the choice made depends on the current situation of the player.
If you are in PvP, you would most likely choose the potions that conserve inventory space, and bring about a much more significantly fast paced battle. If you want to travel through a pathway that is quite far, but if a potion of speed II would get you there in 10 seconds, why waste the extra time? You are able to separate the potion's duration, and use them efficiently.

Of course, keep in mind these are potions. The same ones you still use when you brew, and they are truly a game turner. Choice is always present here, and what strategy the player has mapped out. The most efficient strategy will cause a dramatic change in the outcome of a PvP battle. Certain strategies include whether or not the player wants to have a single full Potion of Harming II, and another potion that holds weakness, slowness, and poison. You've just conserved two inventory slots, which allows you to place other things you may need. Trust me, as every second counts, so does each inventory slot. The player is not forced upon these potions if it is not part of their strategy. Perhaps the player can choose to have only two effects on a single potion, who knows. It is all about their decision, your decision.
Have we actually done the math here? Changing things like this means you have to think through every aspect regarding what the potions do influence, and what combined would influence too. Is that not what strategy is? I wouldn't want to have a full scale strategy if my suggestion were to be implemented, it is up to the player to develop a working strategy for him/herself. Not every strategy is universally compatible. I did give you numbers, numbers that you can use to utilize as what you can do to change the numbers you are referring to. That's the beauty of this suggestion, of Minecraft; utilities are present, and it is your role to decide what to do with those utilities. The strategies are quite endless.
Simply brilliant.
I love how you've listened to peoples ideas and implemented them in.
I can see this being overpowered by allowing you to carry more potion effects with less inventory space, however like you said the effects will be evenly distributed between the 3 mixes, therefore it's balanced.
Also the cauldron needs a use anyway.
but ah... I guess this would introduces so many types of new potions, so I'm not sure how to think of that coding wise (for I am not a computer genius), But if it's possible, then Full Support from me.
Support definately. Maybe the crafting recipe is the 2 or more potions in the slots. Yes.myood idea
I want to keep the way to make these only available through cauldrons, that way cauldrons get a new use. Also, the action of 'blending' would fit better a cauldron, rather than a crafting table. Though, thanks for your support!
Awesome idea, 100% Support. Its not overpowered either, it should be added in minecraft. So far, no cons. I think you should create a signature so people can support you.
Ahh, thanks for the support! I've never thought about making a banner, but I'll see what I can do.

The only difficult part of implementing this suggestion is having cauldrons seem filled from the potions, and blend. This blending should be done similarly to how dyes work on armor. Multiple potions have existed in the game code for a long time now, in fact you can create create your own already with the current available commands. All there needs to be to make this fully functional is an additional damage value for custom potions, which has a texture that changes based on the mixed potions.
I think this is one of the best ideas on the forums! I don't think it would be op because you can't grief with it and it gives use for cauldron.200% support
My urge to post a similar idea was building and BOOM! A wild topic appeared! I like most of this idea and it is certainly better that needing a new dedicated block. The only thing I'd change is the explosion thing. Canceling out effects should be visual enough to tell you screwed up your brew somewhere. This could give Witch Testificates an excuse to hit you so hard your kid would feel it. Despite the potential for Mojang to royally troll us I support this suggestion.

If regular is Vanilla then what flavor is your Minecraft?
Absolutely love this idea! This post is well explained, includes visuals, explains every proposed concept and is definitely not too far-fetched. If we can create mixed potions in the Too Many Items potions menu, I'm sure Mojang can implement the mixed potions in vanilla Minecraft. I'm not a coding genius or anything but I think this idea is completely feasible. This is also great in the fact that isn't implementing new elements into the game, "just for the sake of it" but actually contributing and building upon what we currently have.
