I don't quite see where it is overpowered. My thought was that the potions would be like water and oil untill a third potion was added, making diluting times and effects easier. Like water and oil, you can seperate them, because the oil is less dense than water. I hope that was clear.
Hmmm interesting. I like this suggestion. This would prevent the potion to be too overpowered.
I am posting here because I think this is a great idea. It adds a use to cauldrons (which could actually have a lot of uses) and is logical. I think maybe one could add an infinite number of potions however, when the cauldron gets too full to add any more liquid, you must bottle some of the waste potion to lower the water.
However, if you combine potions correctly, it might be possible to create better and more powerful potions, possibly by adding a time factor too. If you add potions together too quickly, they may lose their effect power. Too slowly and they'll create Rancid Potions.

Thanks for the support, I'll rewrite and clean up the topic post a bit. This is actually a great idea, I'll include it soon in the main post.
Definitely like the new update for the topic! I like your new pictures that you added, they add depth to the topic. Anyways, thank you for including the 1/3 degrading on potions, it might have given people the wrong idea before you changed it.

Thank you all for the support! I updated the topic to include how much supporters there are.
I love this idea! Full support. You could create the ultimate PvP potions and splash potions with this, as long as you had the right potions already. Also, can you mix regular and custom potions?

Thank you for the support! No, you cannot mix the potions any more after three effects. You can add them back into the cauldron, but you cannot mix any additional potions. So, if you have a mixture of two effects, take them out of the cauldron, and then refill the cauldron with the same mixture, and then you wish to add another bottle into it. If you were to add a potion that is only one effect, then the potion will be added to the mixture. If you add a potion with already two or three effects to the mixture with two effects, nothing will happen.
Updated the post to improve comprehension! Wow, some of the information I presented was outdated, and there were some mistakes in there as well. Fortunately, I provided a fix.
I see that you added a poll. Can you be more specific in what potions can't mix and create explosions? I would like to be aware.
Well, just take the corruptions of potions and they will explode. Most of them actually, but night vision and visibility would make an exception. Would it be too overpowered if they don't explode?
Still seems too overpowering to me. If I will create a potion that will damage the enemy poison them and weaken them at the same time then he won't be able to fight back and I can kill him especially if I created a potion of strength, regen and instant health. Lessen the time duration. It may just balance it enough.

Seems this is an issue to be settled, so I propose a change which will compromise the issue. Instead of the potion strengths and duration being split into threads, I suggest a change in the system which will split a mixture with two effects by 1/3, and split a mixture with three effects by 1/6. The negative potion you gave as an example will now be presented with a heart of damage, three seconds of poison, and thirtysix seconds of weakness. Still seems overpowered? This is just the non splashable version, so expect a great reduction after the conversation into its splashable counterpart.
How about the cauldron has a GUI.
It has three slots and a 'Mix' button. To get the result you just right click the cauldron with an empty bottle. To make it less OP, it could check when you click the button for how much XP you have got. Different mixes could cost different levels. Also there could be a 'book of brewing'. this would go in another slot in the cauldrons GUI and when you brew the potion it could add the recipe to the book. Another feature could be to make it less OP is that it could take a few minutes to brew. To make it even more advanced you could even make it do that the biome, amount of mobs and weather effect the speed of your brewing eg. 1 which nearby would take 5 seconds off the brewing time (you can trap them and use a nametag on them), rain takes 2 seconds off and thunder takes 8 seconds off. If you are in a swamp it takes 8 seconds off and if it is a full moon it takes 10 seconds off.
And i support but i ran out of 'like' points
The beauty of my proposed suggestion is that there is no GUI, presenting simplicity. A GUI interface will remove that 'witchy' effect of creating these potions. Do you feel anything special when you brew potions currently today?

To make it less OP, decrease the effect time for each new effect added.

I changed the topic a bit: I cleaned the topic, made the writing further comprehensive, and made the whole topic itself more appealing.
Still support!

Half support? Is there a possible con that you may address to add to my list of cons? If so, we can compromise surely.
