I don't see how it would really change much. Sure it would help in some mob farms but in 99% of them you could do the same thing a different (but usually similar) method.

I dont "Need" this idea for anything, im just saying that doors make no sense and this would make them better.
Really, they should need blocks on all sides (except the ones it opens travel to).
This idea isn't really necessary though. You can't make a light go simply by attaching a lever to it and pulling it, so why not have a door that works without hinges?

yes.
while you seem like a pretty cool guy, i have to agree w/ jon
sorry, but if minecraft made sense it would suck.
also badprenup why don't you have a non-default profile picture?
you are a retired staff after all....

Ya minecraft wouldent be good if it made sense but mojang made it so a door breaks when the block below it breaks so obviously there trying to make sense, and anyways this idea would be usefull for alot of things
at the moment, doors are placed on the side of the block in the direction you're facing. placed on the wall, you would have to replace it to get it in the right direction a few times, and it would get old, fast (basically like stairs >.>).
ive never seen a redstone contraption with a door.
really? not even an iron one?
i guess it might help the logic of minecraft a little bit but my new question is can a door be hinged on a door?
that could sway my opinion(hinge joke: not intended but present)

no you shouldent be able to hang a door on a door but you can still make a double door as long as theres a block beside both doors.
Doors can be used with water, boats and plates to make distributors and complicated locks. It also help some 7 segments display contraptions or redstone counters.
connected to another block, but if you break the block below it it will break? this idea is pretty simple, sorry to all
those people that make door Mob-traps, but this would be more realistic and would really help for alot of things,
just think a door with nothing connected to it being able to open and close, but then the door will break if the
block below it breaks, anyways this idea would make it so only if the block/blocks it is connected to break then
the door breaks, and doors can have the block below them break and the door would not break, please tell me if
you agree with this idea below, this idea would help in some ways and would not help in some ways, but this
would make more sense and in my opinion would make doors alot better.
