Okay guys, so I was just messing around with the Mob Disguise plugin, I believe it is called Disguisecraft, and I was transforming into a few mobs trying to scare my buddy. Then I started thinking. We have zombies, skeletons, sipders, and witches, so the next logical addition would be a vampire, wouldnt it? I mean I see a common theme here of Halloween and I'm not certain, but I believe that a few of these mobs were added in Halloween updates. So does this mean that next year we might be getting a vampire mob? I don't know, let me know what you guys think! I feel like this would be a really fun mob to have, and maybe it could somehow be linked to bats? I know that in the case of Dracula, he would transform from a bat into a vampire, at least in Scooby Doo hahaha. You guys can add to the suggestion, give us your thoughts, and come up with a few things that this mob might do, and how it could be implemented!
Thanks!

I don't know, I've seen vampires before. They would need something pretty spectacular that we don't have to make it in. I don't think any mobs are in the works right now, but you're right, it would make a cool Halloween feature.
If it were to be theoretically added, here's what I would do.
Similar build to a zombie, but pasty white. Similar structure, would walk with it's arms out. If it attacked you, it could melee, but has a kind of "bite" maneuver, inflicting time damage. Vampires are notorious for not liking water, so water would hurt it. They also dislike daylight, duh, and they can't be killed except with (Iron or gold maybe?) weapons.
I think it would fit in with the theme of the current mobs, but what practical applications would it further have? Zombies drop flesh that you can eat when you're in dire need of food, spiders drop string which can be used for bows or wool, skeletons drop bones which can be used for taming dogs or used to get bone meal to grow things and arrows, and so on. What would a practical drop and implementation for it be?

Oh! You mentioned the type of item it could be killed with. It would be cool if you could hit the mob and punch it back with whatever item you may have, but you could only kill it with a wooden sword, similar to a wooden stake! I like this idea!

Well vampires attack with their fangs, and when I think of a vampire, fangs are one of the first things that come to mind. Maybe fangs could be used to craft some kind of new item or maybe they could be used in potions for some kind of anti-venom for poison as the fang could somehow suck out the poisoned blood? It could be used for a number of things, so I need your ideas guys! Thanks!
Well, maybe the fang can be used to make a absorvation potion, maybe whe you hit a mob you recover 1/4 of the damage tha you caused to that mob, recovering half a heart whenever you cause a damage up to 2 hearts, 1 heart whenever you cause a damage of 2.5 to 4 hearts, etc..
What do you think? It seems a bit OP to me, but can be changed.

Maybe at day they are "disguised" as bats, but drop the same things as a normal Vampire. At night they transform. At day they they are peaceful, being bats. So you could "bat hunt" hoping to hit a Vampire.
Will be nice if these Vampire Bats shows exatly the same in visual as the bats, so you can't distinguish between the two, but will be good if they goes for the nearest cave.

Fangs?
Needles for a needlegun?
Said needles can be coated in a potion, if it goes in. Healgun anyone?

Well I'm not sure where a needlegun would fit in, but it would be cool to be able to use it for a handpick, as NitrogenSnow said, when trapped in a cave to mine your way out or fight off the mobs! This would be nice to have because bats are typically found in the caves so when you get trapped underground and your pickaxe breaks, you just need to kill a bat to mine your way out!

I think the mob should be defeatable with any weapon, but will only drop something when killed with a specific weapon like a Wooden Sword for example. Perhaps it could drop a tooth that can make a dagger or handpick when crafted with a stick, for emergency situations (since it can be made on a 2x2 grid). This would work similar to the zombie as zombies drop flesh which is useful in emergency situations when you're hungry, the tooth can be used in emergency situations when your sword or pickaxe breaks.
The tooth could also be used in a Water Breathing potion perhaps? No idea. I think you should get the wither effect when you get bitten by a Vampire though, having the Vampire do 1/2 heart of damage or something to balance it out.
I support the general idea.

Hm, yes, but then it would be a good idea to have like 10% Vampire Bats(Vampires in the form of a bat), and 90% Bats, that way you can't just go and get the useful materials from Vampires in the form of Vampire Bats whenever you like, without opposition. It would also be nice if the Vampire Bats tried to attack you back once you attack them, so that there's a lower chance of you getting them.
Yes, but only in how it looks. Then you could add some sort of tiny wing-like aperature, fangs, and make its eyes a little more crazy looking. Now how does it look?
It walks around attacking the player, but it dies during the day. Wouldn't it just be a zombie that gives you a debuff and is only harmed by water and wooden tools?

Isn't that what I just finished saying it isn't in my last post?
Although this idea had been suggested many times already, I'm in for the idea. Vampires can morph into vampire bats during the day, but if you look closely, vampire bats have longer fangs than normal bats and have an aversion to light. At night they fly out and transform into vampires. They move at a speed slightly faster than that of a creeper, and usually creep up on you, like creepers. They can use melee, but have one fifth chance to bite, causing you to lose hearts for an amount of time. They can be destroyed by all kinds of swords, but gold swords have higher efficiency on them. They take damage when exposed to sunlight or water in vampire form.
I'd be thrilled to see some additional mobs if they had a dramatically different function.
So far this one doesn't seem to have one, it sounds a lot like a reskin.
I mean, Creepers blow your things up, Skeletons attack at a range, Spiders scale walls, Ghasts are jerks. They all have unique qualities, and when you want a normal mob, there's the Zombie.
Add a special quirk to this "vampire", something beyond "it turns into a bat at X time", something that actually enhances the gameplay instead of a cosmetic tweak that attacks you sometimes, and you have my support.
Good luck~

I wonder why nobody have mentioned wolves yet. =/
when you said bite you would that bite be like poison or the new wither de buff?
