There is not enough room, I talked with the OPer of the thread. They said that my original description was valid, and then offered their own. I decided to go with theirs.
1) Chunks are already in "3d" so that descriptor would be confusing
2) Cubic chunks would work, but again the descriptor leaves room for misunderstanding, since everything in Minecraft is a Cube (block/terrain wise)
3) I don't see how the current description is "less than" the thread, when the OPer requested it.
4) I don't mind continuing this discussion, but let's take it to PM as to not dirty up the thread with debate.
The idea is about added a 3 x 3 crafting grid to the creative menu, on another tab or on an extended version of the survival inventory, it isn't getting much replies now, and I've already bumped it a lot, and I don't really want to bump it too much, but it fell out of the visible section of threads. I was hoping this may bring more traffic to my thread.

There's no block grid entity suggestion on the list.
It's where you take a whole bunch of blocks and move them around somehow as an entity. You could make sailboats move, say, without any hardcoded vehicles.
There's a couple floating around, some of them are pretty well written.
