When trying to find specific servers, such as Creative and Survival, there's no problem. The links for these types of servers are on the main page of the forums. But the type that you don't see is a "Minecraft Vanilla Servers" link.
When I want to take a break from Creative/Survival servers and really get back to the basics, there's nothing better than to play on a server with little to no "little extra somethings". When I check for vanilla servers I will normally browse through the Survival tab and go fishing. The problem is, there are hardly any "vanilla" style servers that can be seen there because everyone is always abuzz about plugins and role playing.
Would it be too much to ask for a new link in the forums page entitled, "Minecraft Vanilla Servers"? This can be a place where people post their servers with little to no plugins. I can only hope that the plugins that are implemented in these places are protection ones to prevent griefing.
(Also, how would I go about marking this topic with a poll? Thanks!)
While I do agree with neospector, I also see the need for more server classification sections.
Right now, the server forums are just too bogged down. It's next to impossible for a new server to get the word about simply because they get bogged down by these larger servers with dozens of players that are posting several times a day.
Being able to get even MORE specific with your server would be better, in my opinion.
This isn't Mojang's responsibility to advertise, catalog, and classify servers as true vanilla or not. If you want to find a good vanilla server, your going to have to search and check them out manually yourself or create your own.

In any case, its gotten to the point where we could finally benefit from a pseudo-server browser. The main problem with the server forums is the lack of formatting that makes parse and indexing a major pain, even if someone did want to use it to gather data.
And they aren't really all that difficult to design either. If you completely forego a live listing system, all you would need is a repository that server admins can submit a listing to, then have a client plugin that periodically updates against a master list, then lets you run filters for things you wants, builds it as a personal server list, then lets you do connection checks like you normally would through the MP menu.
If your really cleaver about it, the community could use a sticky in each server subforum to act as a master list for each game type, and mods could build around it. Punkbuster plugins have been doing stuff like this for years (from master lists to twitter feeds), so I'm sure someone with enough incentive could build something without needing massive backend support.

True, but why would there be any difference in a vanilla category when compared to how Creative and Survival are run? Both Creative and Survival rely (not exclusively) on the readers of each respective topic to report threads that don't belong in certain places.
It is I think. He does ask "for a new link in the forums page entitled, 'Minecraft Vanilla Servers.'"
Yes. What I'm asking an opinion on is whether or not people would like a new Topic/Link right under "Minecraft Survival Servers" and "Minecraft Creative Servers".

[quote=Badgerz]You have to keep in mind that people are stupid.
[quote=Catelite]Just because you don't understand how something works, doesn't make it broken or pointless. >_<

Never mind, no support.

When I search for vanilla style servers, I always manage to get misleading search results or just discussions.
