I recently went to Mojang and got some good information. Notch and Jeb are planing to add thirst to Minecraft X360 Edition. But they aren't sure. Could thirst be to hard to handle because days are to short. Nah,just kidding! I didn't went to Mojang. (But Sweden isn't far from me...)
I just wanted your opinion about adding thirst. Would it be to hard to play with another "thirsty" value in the game?
Hunger is bad enough for me because of the pressure (A stable food source within the first few days!?!?! ARRGGGHHH!), so no.
Thirst may be realistic, but the steps in order to get safe water could take a long time. Thirst poisoning will come with this too, so no. If you have 4 different pressures just starting out (Shelter, Tools, Hunger, Thirst), then it might be too hard.
Notch hasn't been involved since 1.0.0, should jeb bring in thirst? No, hunger works fine, and is a great system. Adding in thirst would also add in having to take a ****, worry about bleeding when falling off a cliff, etc etc.

Idea: Extend the food bar because it's supposed to take 40 days to starve in real life
Also, support, because it will add another good survival element, the thirst bar will deplete within 5 days.
I think thirst is a great idea, I've thought about it before.
I mean, bottles of water, and milk are already in the game, and are both relatively simple to attain. Plus, melons, and apples could be used to make a more quenching fruit drink item for. Additionally, perhaps remaining in certain places would result in a higher rate of loss on your thirst bar, like the desert, the nether, or in high altitudes. But I don't think that thirst should be able to kill you, at least not as fast as hunger does, instead, maybe it would effect your ability to jump, or sprint.
Good idea +rep
Edit: Anyone who has troubles maintaining a food bar is playing survival wrong. And anyone who votes to remove the food bar doesn't know what 'Survival' means.

I would say keep the hunger bar, add drinks to full the hunger bar. Realism is great but not at the expense of game play. I don’t want my minecraft turning into the sims where i have to constantly fill need bars. Survival is an adventure game not a sim.

The fact that the gamemode is called 'survival' means that it is, to an extent, simulating the very concept. If survival isn't supposed to be about filling needs, like hunger or thirst, then what is it? The defined needs that an individual needs in real life include food and water, so naturally, why wouldn't a gamemode called survival include them?
And it seems like a harsh hyperbole to compare minecraft survival to something like The Sims, where you have to fill bars like happiness, hygiene, etc. No one is saying "add loads of bars to minecraft survival" someone just thought it would be more challenging, and realistic to add thirst.
Me too..But i think that the thirst shlould be eneabled in Hardcore mode Or when on hard..Perhaps ?
(As much as I think the following is a poor idea, it will get most of you to stop whining)
Why not just have the hunger and thirst bar have their own toggle next to the difficulty menu?
This of course wouldn't be clientside if playing on a server, to ensure all the participating players are on the same level.
Thirst in survival mode would add a lot more excitement to the game. But for some reason, I don't think that would be fun to have to run outside of a huge cave to find water. That would suck.
Why do we need a separate Thirst bar added to the game? Assuming that drinks were added to the game, it would be easier to have them effect the hunger bar. Just give drinks a low food point and saturation value. Done.
I used to love the old food system, playing back on it, I still do, but it was too easy.
I like the hunger bar now. If we were to get a thirst bar it would be more realistic, but I think it would be unnecessary. If they do plan on adding it, I'd say wait a couple updates. Work more on inviting people to single player, add tons of more world generation types, like 1.7 generation for example, add a few more mobs, maybe a new dimension, etc.

Let's hear what Steve thinks about it:

Now let us never speak of it again.
