That's alot of ideas just for fishing don't ya think? This is minecraft, not fishcraft. Although i do like the idea where we get diffrent sized fish. Maybe the bigger the fish, the higher chances of getting an ocelot.
Fishing should definitely be enhanced.
That or somebody should make a mod called Fishcraft. xD
Just include all of the Animal Crossing fish and I'd be fishing all day selling them to the villagers for Emeralds. Haha.

Okay, first of all, relax with the bumping. You're not the first person to think that fishing should be improved and you won't be the last, plus I'm pretty sure excessive bumping is a banning offense, or at least a locking offense.
Second of all, how do hooks work? They can be enchanted, meaning they're tools, not items. Actually, I don't want to know. Make them rare items--e.g. found in chests or dropped by rare mobs, and make them items, not tools. No durability, no enchantability. Now, make them an ingredient in the crafting recipe for Improved Fishing Rods. Bait should work like arrows--every cast depletes a piece of bait.
Boats need to be improved, but two-person boating is a)probably not the best idea, and already covered by much larger, more comprehensive threads.
just an idea, but maybe that when fishing, you could have a chance to reel in items, like leather boots, gold nuggets, maps, compasses, ect
from the bottom of the lake.

Your ideas do make sence, but the hooks are items that are put above the fishing rod to work, they wont be used as a tool or they will break very easly because they are not made for that.

Now, I wouldn't mind if there were different kinds of fish or other things you could catch while fishing, but they should be consistent with the task: fishing. Maybe even just the occasional bonus fish, like when you sometimes throw an egg and get 4 chicks hatched.
It's not an alternate way to get boots, it's just an old joke; someone says "I've got a fish!" and nope, they've caught a discarded boot. If it got folded in, the boots would necessarily be heavily damaged, and the likelihood of catching anything could increase from 1/300 per tick to something higher, like 1/200 per tick, with the option to catch boots thrown in on the bargain.
