Perpetual Nightmare would be another type of Minecraft mode in which everything is normal. Except for one thing: It will always be dark outside, and the only natural light will be the moon.
Why Should This Mode Be Added?
Perpetual Nightmare should be added because it adds another challenge to Minecraft. Enemy Mobs will always be there to try and hunt you down like its prey. There will be nonstop enemies coming over and trying to take you over, and it really spices up the fighting action of Minecraft, even though you're supposed to be building, and I thought there should be a fair amount of fighting action and mining action.
So how Does This Work?
First, you start off at a normal, peaceful, and lit morning. You spawn in a place, typically the way you'd spawn in Survival. But when it turns to night, it stays like that forever, and there is no way you can change it back. Enemies will now always spawn, and if you want to go out, you must fight the mobs ahead of you. Sleeping in a bed does not work, as it only heals your health bar. Zombies, Skeletons, and Spiders spawn much more frequently than Creepers, making it very difficult to fight. If you place torches, at some point like around 20 minutes, the torch will flicker, and at two minutes after that flicking mark, it shuts off, meaning you have to light it up with Flint and Steel again. Also, you can get 2 torches instead of 4 torches. A new item the lantern will be a infinite light source, and you can carry it as a portable light source, and it can scare enemy mobs away SOMETIMES. To make it, use 3 glowstone top and bottom, and a stick in the middle.Sometimes wolves begin to spawn, and then they start to attack you, because of the moon, and it turns them into a hostile enemy, and you have no choice but to kill them. The other dimensions already have a zero light source, so they aren't as affected as much. Also, more thunderstorms, ambiance, and other harsh weather will happen. Also, hurricanes, blizzards, sandstorms, and fog will appear more frequently during Perpetual Nightmare.
Where can I access Perpetual Nightmare Mode?
If you want to access the game mode, you must click the button when you make a world, and it alternates between Creative, Survival, and Hardcore. It will turn as an option to play. After you have made your world, you cannot change it back, just like the other game modes.
Any changes to the enemy mobs?
Only some changes. First, the difficulty is locked onto hard, and the zombies can more quickly wipe out your door. Then they deal just 1.5 more hearts than usual on hard. The enemies will always appear in groups of three to five, no less or bigger, and they always stick with each other. Enemies should not be underestimated, especially if all you play is Peaceful and Easy.
Anything New?
There will be new types of weather, as well as 1 new passive mob, 1 new hostile mob, and 1 mini boss, the Owl, the Bat, and the Werewolve.
Terms:
Hurricane: A much more vicious storm than a thunderstorm and rain combined. It's always noted that you stay indoors for more safety. Hurricanes destroys many crops, and therefore you must replant them. It's much more difficult to see in the pouring rain, and you move 35% more slowly because of the high wind speeds.
Blizzard: A More vicious snowing effect. Snow rains down much more heavily, and the snow is twice as thick, meaning it makes it harder to move in it. Sometimes you will encounter ice, because some of the snow freezes. It's harder to see in the storm, and when one is in place, you have a Freeze Bar ( A bar in which only appears when you're in a snowstorm). The longer you stay in it, the more snowflakes the freeze bar emits. When there's 10, you take 1.5 hearts of damage per 2.5 seconds. You must take shelter in this case. Also, snow-golems might appear naturally in this state.
Sandstorm: A storm in the desert. You'll see sand particles all around you when you're in it. It's solely there for the vision blocking, and the storm does very well at it. You can only see 4 blocks ahead of you, meaning a creeper can come out of nowhere and KABOOM! If you do not have some sort of helmet on, the particles will get in your eyes, and your vision will slowly worsen. Soon, you can be totally blinded if you stay there for too long. and once your out of the storm, It takes 2.5 minutes to fully heal from a worst vision impair.
Fog: Only appears in Swampy Areas. More ambiance takes place in this type of weather than even in caves. Fog only effects your vision, therefore you can only see 2 blocks ahead of you. After the fog is gone, rain will appear after the fog has gone away.
Owl: It will be a new passive mob that only appears at night. It has a brownish color with black polka dots on it. Its beak protrudes the body, and has huge yellow eyes. When it flies, you can hear a hoot-hoot, and sometimes it just stares you down with its big yellow eyes. It drops 0-4 feathers and 2 Owl Eyes upon death. It is tameable, but very hard due to hostile mobs outside, and it's flying. Tame it with raw fish, and it now follows you, and maybe gets on your back. When an enemy mob attacks you or opposite, it'll attack, then fly up. It deals 3.5 hearts. It has 15 hearts, which can be healed with raw fish. It despises bats, and will attack them for no apparent reason.
Potion of Sight: A new potion created from Mundane Potions and with an Owl Eye. It gives you the ability to see through any storm as if it's not even there. Use glowstone dust for better clearance, or a redstone for duration.
Bat: The first flying hostile mob that isn't the Enderdragon that appears in the Overworld. It does the same attack for when a tamed owl attacks, but deals 1.5 hearts. It has purple wings, black bony arm bones, and a very dark bluish color. It has red small eyes, but has big fangs useful for sucking blood. It has 10 hearts, and when killed, it drops 5 Exp. Points, and drops 0-2 fangs, useful for making a new type of potion called the Potion of Death.
Potion of Death: Just like the title says. It can deliver an immediate blow to any creature, but with a 85% chance of succeeding. It requires an Awkward Potion, followed by a bat's fangs. It does not work with Enderman, nor the Enderdragon.
Werewolve: Who doesn't love the origin of Werewolves? They can stand on their hind legs, and has the same texture as wolves. It has red eyes, and dark fur, sharp teeth, but same pattern as the wolves. It often leads a wolf raid, and is always never alone. It attacks with sharp paws, dealing 3.5 hearts of damage. It can howl to call in 2 more wolf allies to fight you. It has 25 hearts, and when killed, it drops 100 Exp. Points, and 0-5 Fur, useful for making another potion called the Potion of Warmth.
Potion Of Warmth: It is another new potion, and when drunk, it gives you the ability to withstand the sheer cold of Blizzards, meaning that you cannot freeze when you are in that storm. It requires an Awkward Potion followed by a piece of Fur.
Lantern: It was mentioned that Notch wanted to add this instead of the everlasting torch. But people denied this, and did not want this. But it will exist in Perpetual Nightmare only, and it is an everlasting source of portable light that you can carry in your hands. It's crafted with 3 Glowstone top and bottom, and a Stick in the middle. Because it's everlasting, torches will flicker after 20 minutes, and after 2 minutes it began to flicker, it runs out of fuel.
I don't really like the name with "murder", maybe it should be "Midnight Onslaught" or just "Night Defense".
Yeah, it would pretty much be a monster survival gamemode. Cool, but except for the first daytime, you'll have no time to do anything but fight forever...
I'd suggest there'd be waves of monsters, and after each wave, there'd be a few minutes for you and your friends to repair your shelter/search for stuff/mine/etc. The waves will get harder and harder through time.
Also, some things that should be added with this:
-Monsters should aggressively seek players and restlessly break blocks. Creepers will be less common, as stated in the main post
-New mobs and mob varieties
-Biome/world selection for this gamemode?
-Difficulty level, altering mobs' aggressiveness, damage and health
-Barricades to block off mobs
-Treasure chests around the world, to make exploring more interesting
Lanterns=impossible. Also, why would the torches be relit with flint and steel? Also, why would health regen from beds? Also, would crops not grow then? Nevermind. I'm just being an idiot.

Hey Grattank! Um, Torches would be relit because it's withstanding and burning all eternity in the dark. I made health regeneration so that beds would still have a use.

Yeah, couldn't think of a better name. but your saying like its Wave Survival. We already have fences, and treasure chests sound interesting, but that seems a little out.
Yeah, but what if you had to get something like wood? You'd had to go outside your fence and get it, unless you built a big enough fence to keep all those monsters away, but then you have to get that wood to make those fences somewhere you know. It's much more harder in the beginning.
I seriously want this. Minecraft is way too easy, and adding this mode could actualy make it more challenging. There should also be way more thunder storms in this mode. Way, way more, to give it that feel that you're always in danger.
Midnight Mode would be another type of Minecraft mode in which everything is normal. Except for one thing: It will always be dark outside, and the only natural light will be the moon.
