For a while it was the only thing zombies dropped, which was okay, I guess. You gotta drop something, right? But now zombies drop various treasures, so yeah, I'd say there's no point to the zombie flesh.
I kind of agree with this. Zombie drop so many stuff now that the rotten flesh seems almost out of place lol.
The problem with rotten flesh is that it's contradictory. For some reason, Mojang didn't put Villager Meat in the game. Their reasons: it's gross, it's cannibalistic, and it encourages players to kill villagers, which isn't the kind of game this is.
But then there's zombie meat: it's gross, it's cannibalistic, and it encourages players to kill a human-based mob.
It's like no no no, you can't eat a villager only after you've killed them. First they have to be turned into a zombie and partially rotted away, and then it's fine to eat them.
Pick one, Mojang. Either include villager meat, or take out zombie meat. I'd vote for taking out zombie meat, because it really doesn't add much to the game.
I don't think players have any kind of sympathy for zombies. Eating zombies isn't like eating a human, because it's lifeless and has no consciousness, or at least I assume that. Everyone has covered the actual uses of rotten flesh. It's gross, because it's rotten, but it isn't cannibalistic, and I'm pretty sure players will kill the (loosely) human-based mob anyway because it's trying to murder your face in. Rotten flesh isn't meant to be encouragement, it's supposed to be a drop just so zombies drop something. You're acting like killing zombies is wrong.

So it wouldn't be cannibalism to eat somebody's corpse you stumbled across? I'm pretty sure our society frowns on that. I'd say they're more than loosely human-based ever since villager zombies. They're still human bodies, no matter what way you look at it.
They've got other drops now. I'd suggest replacing the rotten flesh drop with poisonous potatoes. That way you can sacrifice some health for hunger (maybe tweak the hunger and damage.)
Its the best last resort food for example if you run out of food and you are outside at night.or if you are just having a bad game,or for the wolves like some said.
I don't know, if zombie flesh is a last resort food, then that doesn't mean they shouldn't delete it, just that it should be replaced by something less stupid. Zombies could just drop more potatoes and carrots.

I think you are going to love my Survival Let's Play series on YouTube! It's called Spaceboot1's Garden. I make pretty things.
I had previously said that it would be cool if they offered the ability to cook the flesh. That way you aren't dumping it later on in game.
However, now that I have thought about it, I really wouldn't mind if they did get rid of zombie flesh, just as long as they provide some other alternate way to get a simple food early on. My new thought it is to raise the percent chance on apples on trees, maybe even do something similar like with cocoa beans on jungle trees, but do apples on the oaks.
Maybe you should be able to combine a golden apple with rotten flesh to reconstitute normal flesh. Or just have villagers drop "flesh" which can be cooked...
I always find myself carrying so much rotten flesh that I eat it religiously, whether I really need that health regeneration or not. You're gonna encounter a lot of zombies, and it's a pretty fitting drop anyway as well as a disposable food source for wolves. It's not the best food option in the game, but I still like that it's there.

Hey, you there. Yes, you! Are you thinking about posting a suggestion on the forums anytime soon? If so, please read this before doing so.
Yes. I want those useless annoying and disgusting food should be removed. And replaced them with meat or make zombies drop steak instead of rotten flesh.

Simply removing rotten flesh would be enough imo. Zombies dropping steak doesn't make sence.
In the current version food isn't realy an issue. Sure you could trade rotten flesh for emeralds but who actually does that?
Also rotton flesh can't be crafted into anythig else. It's just inefficent disgusting food we don't need anymore.
It's the most annoying item. I don't wan't it in my inventory.
Rotten flesh is pretty useless, but rather than being removed it ought to be given a use- like making a really effective compost, or maybe turning a couple rotten flesh into leather.
Rotten flesh could be used to breed zombie spawn eggs.
A mob spawn egg would be created in brewing stand using eggs instead of bottles and mobs drops instead of indigrients:

That is actually a cool idea and imo balanced for singleplayer. Multiplayer is a different story but this feature could be fixed without problems using plugins ect to remove / bann the brewing recipe.
I mean eggs are by default more useful then zombie spawneggs, even if the eggs have only a chance to spawn a chicken. Automized chickenfarms are so easy to build and so damn overpowered. The zombie spawnegg could be used to prank someone or for slightly simpler Ironfarm building. Moving the villagers to their location is more difficult then luring zombies in.

Not unless player-created spawn eggs are unable to change the mob spawned by a spawner, or only if the player is in Creative, as I've implemented myself in TMCW, mainly for testing purposes, much as I made bonemeal instantly grow trees and crops in Creative (I think spawners should be nerfed themselves; in TMCW I made it so that after continuously spawning about 50 mobs the mobs will no longer drop loot or XP unless the spawner is left alone for up to 40 minutes (the time required for an internal counter to drop to 0, after which another 50 mobs with drops can spawn).
As for rotten flesh itself, I don't see any reason for removing it; it can be used as an emergency food source, or even not so emergency (the hunger effect only drains 3 exhaustion or 3/4 of a hunger point over 30 seconds; notably, it used to be much higher; in 1.6.4 it drains 5 times more hunger, or nearly as much as it restores, though you can still regenerate several times). In fact, I've actually used it as a primary food source while caving after I ran low on "real" food but wanted to keep on going until my inventory was completely maxed out. You can also trade it for emeralds, which I've also added to TMCW.
Otherwise, what do you propose zombies drop, and I don't mean the occasional iron ingot/carrot/potato (1/120 chance of each) but a common drop (0-2 items per mob, so in this case "common" drops are 40 times more common than "rare" drops).

It can also be used to breed Wolves, so it's not entirely useless.
Rotten flesh isn't the best food item for the player, but it can be used to initiate regeneration
when low on health and when the player has no other food.
and it can be used for trading to get an unlimited supply of lapis, glowstone, redstone and emeralds.
Why would somebody want to get rid of this?
That label "useless food" goes to poisonous potato, which there are legitimate reasons for removing unless
Mojang changes it so it can be used in composting.

I totally forgot that. And this is the best use for rotten flesh imo.
Becouse rotten flesh is a bad trade object compared to sticks, iron ect. Yes the butcher has bad trades too but those items are the ones we eat instead.
Imo rotten flesh is the very item most players are annoyed to toss out of the inventory / farm-chests. There is no need to stockpile this "trash" when you have acces to much more valuable trading items. For bigger flushed mobfarms i always build lava-disposal-filters for rotten flesh.
Having a more useless item then rotten flesh doesn't make rotten flesh a good item. You only have to deal with poisonous potatos when you farm them.
Zombies are a different story, they come from everywhere and fill your inventory with trash. It is very inefficient to waste time with rotten flesh compared to any other ressource and it's uses.

Mostly moved on. May check back a few times a year.
You can substitute if for leather.

For now i'm working on a private modpack that suit's my own playstyle.
I am gonna stay in modded 1.12.2 untill my potato dies. No mercy! :Q

Why do I still play in 1.6.4?
