I have to say, no. They're a good source of food for wolves, and they are absolutely fantastic in zombie apocalypse servers, when there's practically nothing else to eat but flesh.

Dirt is useless... should we remove dirt? Swords are useless... we have fists - we should remove swords. Axes too. Bedrock is useless - let's get rid of bedrock. Shovels are pointless and really... why do you need pigs or chickens when we have cows? And the Nether - what can you do there? Sure, you get stuff to go to the End... but why do we need the End? We kill a dragon and we see scrolling text. Big deal. You know, now that I think of it, Minecraft is useless. It's not exactly necessary for your survival - let's get rid of Minecraft.

Cats.
I can't tell if that is sarcasm, although alot of things mentioned in there have uses and reasons to be there.
Alot of people in here are saying they use it as last-resort survival food. You're playing it wrong. Low saturation means that if you live off the stuff, you're not going anywhere during the day. For my puppies on the other hand, it's quite useful on mcMMO servers where the only way to get your taming skill up is for your dogs to fight (even then, for a pack of 4, there still doesn't seem to be enough).
I suggest getting a potato farm. Baked potatoes actually last quite a while.
Rotten flesh is a great way to get a food supply in early Minecraft if you don't want to hunt for animals, I think they will eventually add an extra function to it though even if the saturation isn't prime.
The reason i thought of this is because i had a NPC village with ALOT of farms. And per day i get 20 bread slices. So i have a great income of bread from the NPC village. But anyways thanks for the comments. I will rethink this now.
Yes rotten flesh would be pointless in a situation where you spawn near a village. However, as we know, that isn't always the case. Rotten flesh is handy when you first start out because it is practically free, abundant, and no extra work necessary. It is also nice when you don't bring enough food when spelunking and you are getting low on hunger and/or health.
As an alternative idea, I would propose instead that there be a method where you can cleanse the rotten flesh with the use of potions or something. It doesn't have to be by any practical means because there are plenty of ways to get food by the time you have a brewing stand. This just gives an option for those who are tired of tossing stacks of rotten flesh in their trash (lava pool) like me.
No support from me, it's useless (for you but not your wolf), and makes ALOT more sense than a feather. I also use it as an emergency food source for when i'm too lazy to go get more or if it's something like survival games
I kinda think rotten flesh could be replaced by poisonous potatoes as a drop, now that we have them. The cannibalism is kind of weird. Poisonous potatoes still need a use, though. Nausea potion.
Do people seriously think an abundant food item and animal training tool is useless?
I'm afraid so.
Zombie meat is, in a way, a ironic thing I enjoy. I mean for one, minecraft is or was originally a game based on you with your own skills to survive, this being said if you want a zombie apocalypse out side your shack, you got it. That being said in a role play based scenario of some servers, you or your team will be hungry and starving and the only thing you can do is salvage a zombie for food and a good chance one of you will become one...
Then again I use it as back up food (like 8 of them in my inventory at all times some how), and use it to feed my lovely dogs to create more dogs who create more dogs that starts a army of dogs and when every one tpa's to you every one is flooded with dogs.
Rotten flesh is useful for packs of wolves, but if you don't tame wolves, then rotten flesh is useless. Sure, it is a last resort food, but you can quickly establish a good food source. I hope Mojang makes a useful addition to rotten flesh, that most players will use.
Want to play Minecraft SSP like Spaceboot1? Try my modpack, all mods made by me, Spaceboot1!
Just build the darn thing already!

Also this. Mojang doesn't add things and then remove them just like that. Rotten flesh is not going anywhere.

That's off-topic, but that was because your post count was 42. In case you don't understand.
While rotten flesh is completely worthless, it shouldn't be removed. It should just be given more uses.
Locked chests. Sponges are kind of removed.
Mostly moved on. May check back a few times a year.
With that logic, i guess they removed pink withers too.
