Green mushrooms can be brewed into a nether version of sugar. Although when crafted or brewed it is fine, eating them via right clicking can cause food poisoning.
Blue mushrooms: florescent blue mushrooms can be used as a substitute for spider eye in the nether and thus can be fermented to make a fermented version. Like spider eye it is poisonous.
White mushroom: These mushrooms glow at light level 9 and can be crafted into light spores.
These can be fermented into lumina-cream which is the reverse of fermented spider eye. (while spider eye can turn a potion of speed into one of slowness lumina-cream can convert a potion of slowness into one of speed)
Ideas and opinions please.
I think all mushrooms should be included in the mushroom biome, they could also be in other dimensions.
Anyway a lot of this is making substitutes for overworld items so you can survive if you start in the nether. I have got food sources done, I will probably make it so you can craft basalt shards back into basalt which can the be a substitute for stone. I have got bulbs you can grow which can be made into a substitute for sand in glass making.
All I really need is a source of string and feather for bows and arrows and then I can go on to designing dungeons.
see! that's what I was saying a few posts ago! somebody understands! have you made a wood source for the nether yet?
After some research I have decided how to implement string and feathers into the Nether thus allowing you to craft bows and arrows and Thus enabling you to hunt Ghasts and large magma cubes for blood gems and thus get the basic tool set.
In the Nether there will be Rok's. Large neutral bird creatures.
They have 5 hearts of health and when attacked fly up and swoop down. However when a Ghast explosion hits nearby they cower for 3 seconds enabling you to attack them. On death they drop a large number of feathers and string.
Thus enabling you to start up sufficiently in the nether.
firstly, birds wouldn't really fit in the nether. secondly, string? that doesn't really make sense.
perhaps a spider-like mob that shoots webs at you?
1. If by bluetit then I agree. But these are large vulture like creatures, maybe slightly undead like pigmen.
2. I don't want to add a new mob, particularly one which has one point and one point only (getting string)
1.Whats a bluetit? Anyway thanks for being more descriptive, it make it seem cooler and more fiting. since its a vulture, it should eat dropped meat(when it dose it regains health).
2. spiders used to only drop string(and and zombies dropped feathers) maybe it cold drop something else(spider eye perhaps?).
Edit:could you explain what blood gems are?
2nd edit: could someone give me some feedback on my post at the bottom of page 14?
I've been pondering around for a while about a Water dimension before this thread, so I guess now is a great time to post on it.
I call it: The Undersea
The undersea is a dimension accessed by creating a portal with a frame of glowstone activated by a slimeball, but here's the catch, the portal must be completely submerged underwater.
Some logic behind the slimeball thing: The slimeball is supposed to make a thin green outline which acts as a bubble for the player. Vision is not altered and armor is still equipped. The outline is similar to the charged creeper's blue electric outline.

Should I keep going? :tongue.gif:
I think we already have a basic idea for the w.d., but this is interesting.
2. Hmmm, if you could suggest a mob that is easy to kill early on, drops string and something else useful and is generally worth its coding then suggest away.
3.Blood Gems, throughout this thread I have made Nether suggestions and when people seem happy with them incorporate them into my nether text which is earlier on in this thread.
1. aawwwww, its adorable!
2.some kind of nether silk worm?
3.so pretty much renewable iron? the other dimensions should have something similar.
I think that there should be a "peaceful" world, where only friendly mobs spawn. I don't know what it should be called.
Perhaps we should first settle for defining the core dimensions before formulating ideas for others. Don't want our ideas to be too thinly spread, now do we?
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
Minecraft makes me feel like I'm three. Playing with blocks and afraid of the dark.

each core dimension could act like a hub to certain side dimensions(sort of like the level select in Mario)

Ah, yes indeed.
So far we have solidified an idea for what the water dimension will be like. I plan on updating the OP as soon as I get the chance to do so about this information.
Also, savannaman, I only Officially OKed some your ideas, so don't go crazy with that thread ok? We are going to put out "content options" and have the community vote for what they think would fit MC best. We don't want to be EXTEMELY specific and say that everything in the thread will be implemented, because what if some people don't like some of the ideas? The goal is to improve minecraft as a whole for all(or most) people, so community feedback is important.
The nether eye mob, and the basalt are definately going in though. I love the nether eye graphics you made! :smile.gif:
And I believe we discussed maybe having the basalt and quartz in the overworld instead a while ago?
The basalt seems like it would fit better in a volcano biome and quartz would be better in overworld caves than in the nether IMO
You have a good point. What I will probably do is balance everything out and then present it in bite-sized chunks. People can vote on which ones they like or whether they don't like parts.
Sorry for going a bit too fast for you. I just think if we get one good dimension balanced and presented it would be good. As an example. As a balanced framework for people to work around. If people have an idea for the nether I am fine considering it. I will be probably putting the silk worm in.
Yes, the silk worm will go in. It fits rather nicely
see! that's what I was saying a few posts ago! somebody understands! have you made a wood source for the nether yet?
I'm gonna start doing changelogs from now on, to give these "bump for update" posts a reason to exist.
> "Non-static" portals have had their name changed. They are now Dynamic portals
> changed the thread description, We need a name for the water dimension!
Next OP update is gonna be about the water dimension idea we've been discussing for the last few pages, including some concept images hopefully!
I want to make some concept mobs.
I suggest calling it the "Kyther" keeping in theme with the "ether" suffix.
The "Ky" Comes from "Kymata" which is Greek for waves.
Use blender, it takes some getting used to but it is free.
I believe techne is the most commonly used with Minecraft.
Brilliant! Personally, I feel having consistency in the names is a good idea. Makes everything feel connected.
Edit: Savannah Man, you mean flora not fauna. Fauna is animals, flora is plants.
I'm trying to use it right now,its really difficult to use.
is there any thing simpler that's free?
No.

Redstone Proximity Alarm!
Tokens and Mob Trophies!

Hello.
wimp landidkPerhaps we should first settle for defining the core dimensions before formulating ideas for others. Don't want our ideas to be too thinly spread, now do we?
Nether silkworms? Make it so!
Also, we should just have some kind of bow wielding mob. Save the bird mobs for the skylands
each core dimension could act like a hub to certain side dimensions(sort of like the level select in Mario)
I know right?
Ah, yes indeed.
