Who hates it when they're right outside during the night?
I propose a redstone device which activates redstone only when exposed to light (daytime).
Alternately, it could be changet to be dark-sensitive (used only at night/when something blocks light).
I don't like mods--I think it should be part of the real game.
Unfortunately Notch has already stated that there will most likely be no more implementation of redstone anything in future updates.
When I say no more I mean he isn't going to update redstone beyond what it already is.

CRAP! That means my redstone megathread is now pointless.
Once again, I think it would not be worth diamond...I think it should be just like the one above excep replace the diamond with a clock. It just seems fitting for a night/day sensitive mechanism. (Creepers tend to spawn on my house, but I love wiring with redstone...so instead of just putting torches, i would use this for SURE.)
