Instead of Diamonds being the best type of tool, why not make it some kind of rare stone, or perhaps Obsidian.
Also, Obsidian Armor.
The reason for my Obsidian obsession, is that it takes diamond to mine it, so it should be the next tier.

But obsidian is a renewable resource, all it takes to make obsidian is a bucket, lava, and water. Diamond should be stronger because it is harder to find.

Oh god, no, please not the Obsidian armor and tools AGAIN! I've seen so many arguments on how Obsidian in real life is just like glass, and that it's easy to break... So many suggestion for this, it's torture...

But you either need to wait 50 seconds of constant mining or 15 seconds of constant mining with a DIAMOND pickaxe to mine. And it can survive TNT on minecraft. Who says minecraft needs to be realistic?

Why does everyone think I don't have an avatar? Is there anyone who can see the one black pixel.
Please click the dragons, they need to grow. Also, my fully grown dragons can be found in my bio.

No.
Some of the best scalpels are made of obsidian, so why not make obsidian tools? They mine extremely fast (but in mining itself, it takes the length a diamond pickaxe takes to mine redstone), but they have the durability of either stone or wood tools.

I didn't mention realism, I just said that obsidian is more abundant in Minecraft than diamond and should therefore not make superior tools for balance purposes.

Maybe Obsidian would not make tools, since it is pretty abundant. But it already does make portals. Maybe obsidian was meant to create things in the environment, and not tools?
Maybe a new tool idea would be so that you can trim armor (Iron or better) with colored wool. Idea was inspired by the infamous RS scam, where players said they could trim armor.
So anyway, on the crafting table, you just put the wool above the piece of armor you want to trim. I don't think this should offer any extra protection, but just make you look awesome(r) wearing it.
Maybe make tools out of moss cobblestone that are SLIGHTLY more powerful than regular stone tools (due to the rarity of moss cobble).
People using the "obsidian is more common and renewable" argument is tiring. It requires a Diamond pickaxe about 20 seconds to get a SINGLE obsidian block. Also, while obsidian is common, it's not renewable. Your lava will run out eventually, so you have to decide, lava or obsidian.

You can't make metre cubed pieces of rock get jiggy with each other, that's just WRONG.

You can get infinite liquid by doing this:
[L][D]
[D][L]
and breaking the [D] where [L] is the liquid and [D] is something else.
And then take any of the [L] blocks, and it will fill it up automatically.
Obsidian pick and shovel
Mine fast durability of iron simple idea obsidian armor walk slow sink in water but has durability of between iron and diamond there it could be possible so yea hope u like it modify if u want thanks :biggrin.gif:
Obsidian is millions of times more common than diamond and is manufacturable. It's like asking for dirt tools that are better then diamond. Those who say: "But obsidian takes longer to mine" are overlooking the fact that it doesn't really matter. If diamond took 15 seconds to mine a block, and you could create with 2 clicks of the mouse, I think you'd mine it no matter what. Those who say "You'll run out of lava" obviously have no clue just how common lava is down below. Also, I recall there beign an infinite lava machine. As if lava wasn't already common enough...

At a loss for words? Here's a few you can use: Welcome, to Night Vale...
Obsidian takes so long to mine because it is a delicate material and it needs the precision of diamond to be mined properly. Delicacy does not make a good tool or a good piece of armor.
It has also been confirmed that new tool tiers will not be implemented through new materials, but through improving old ones.

1. Obsidian is not necesarily delicate
2. Cool...can you post the source?

But BEST OF ALL! This has been suggested a million times, and makes it against the rules.
