Unless runecraft has changed alot in the last year, this is still a very different beast in its entirety than the simple arranging of blocks to exert an effect...

I like this, as it makes a good way to have Magic in the game, without overpowering it, Also it gives us a means to be a Powerful Sorcerer with your "Thousand Arcane secrets, each of which would drive you mad" but also isn't like "Mine Diamond, put Diamond on magic Obsidian pillar which is dropped by Ghastcreeper mutant things, and then spam 100 fireballs" or "Use magic powers on Item, item instabreaks stuff and doesn't have durability" It gives you more means for traps, speaking of which, how about Golden dispensers or something? could perhaps be powered and fire out little blasts of whatever magic they have. While yes, this gives you more means to Grief people's stuff. Most Griefers aren't going to go through the trouble of mining redstone, gathering Gold and everything, making magical Redstone, then blowing up stuff. So they would have to get into your stuff first, and there it's not that different than leaving a Chest of TNT where a Griefer could get into it. In fact, TNT could destroy more than a bunch of Infused Redstone and Gold Bars.
Overall I think this should be Added into Minecraft, perhaps with a Toggle button like the Generate structures Toggle. So those who want to keep magic out of their Game and Servers can do so. while those of us who want to have our Epic Magic Castles can also do so :biggrin.gif:
TL;DR. Sorry. I read the rituals part. This is waaaay too long for me to read. That doesn't mean it's bad. It looks amazing. Like, THE BEST. Also, my server is using this plugin for magic and I am learning magic.

no. Minecraft =/= magic, no matter how much text you have.
its pointless, ruins the idea of the game and takes away (no matter what you say) the feel of minecraft.
yes, because endermen, the nether, enchantments... all that's clearly not magic. Not only is it not magic it is NOT blatant pew pew magic that has no rhyme or reason behind it. This idea is clearly inferior and stupid because it talks about an elementally based science more akin to archaic alchemy than to deus ex machina style magic.
Maybe you should look at the game you play, and bother to read the idea, before you type next time.

this is amazing, I want it to be a mod... and I'd like to tell you what the least controllable and most powerful elements are, they are opposite:
TIME AND SPACE
I thought it was obvious.
Time and space are not opposites silly - they're actually so entirely intertwined we often refer to something called "time-space" as a unit of measurement. It's why things get all wonky when you start approaching the speed of light or when you make a giant gravity well like a black hole. Bending time-space is the only way we can theoretically get faster than light travel.

Ok, I willout right say I didnt read t seemslike way too much. if you want a minecrafty way to add something make it non-invasive. make it exceptionally original, simple, and most importantly lame. yes you heard me right. lame. Make it something useful, and possibly interesting, but not fancy or epic. make it something underrated so then people can BUILD on it using their own ideas.
if you broke it down to the four elements, and then threw in some way that each can be better used then it'd be awesome. ex. air works better higher up. then people would use air when they are up high, and earth down low.
Honestly IDK. I;m just saying all these big ideas often are so cool and yours is too that it's not minecrat anymore. It's some awesome idea that would over take everything else in the game. with all the cool stuff you have I'd never bother with anything else after magic. it's too end game, and thats jsut it. all cool stuff ends up end game. I swear I love the idea, but for MC I just can't see it working out in a way that would end positively for everyone.
The Moon Snare Ritual looks like an extended Swastika... Change that and I'm happy
The swastika has been a symbol in many mythos before the Nazi's got a hold of it - also realize there's no such thing as an "extended" swastika - I was going for something that looks like a vortex... naturally I'm a little limited by the fact everything is square

This is intended to be endgame-ish - the ritual itself makes that evident since it includes a full lightstone block, but I don't really see what's wrong with having "endgame" content, especially since we already have "The End". Magic makes things easier, but isn't a free ticket to do everything you want. This magic slowly destroys the very world you live in by sapping it of the energies that make it work - this is not something a player could easily abuse, especially given that gold and redstone are also both limited resources. There are also many things that are really just aesthetic in their purpose, and, when I think of "endgame" for a game where you build things, the pure aesthetics are the endgame. For example, you don't need to make a castle out of pure iron blocks, but that's an endgame feat - and this idea is meant to facilitate that kind of thing.

I think there should be magic in Minecraft, however not this deep. Keep in mind the majority of the fanbase couldn't care less if a giant block of magic came from Japan, all they care about is what it does.

What do you mean by gold dispensers? (how are they different from the gold blocks with redstone activation I described?)

This has to be made, even if in a mod.
