Well to be honest guys if we wish to keep servers like this alive we need to donate. Donating does not mean that we receive gifts for that.... that's a payment. I have to say that we must be okay with Mojang's decision. They had this written way before any of this started. Servers, this community, and individual players should have known this beforehand and been prepared for this. Does anyone read terms and conditions anymore? Mojang has every right to do this and take action in this issue. Am I totally happy about this? No I have paid for stuff on a server and now it will be uttered useless.... that does suck in my opinion. I, however, do believe that we as players and we as a community need to stand together with Mojang.... this disunity will do what exactly? It won't help this situation or even help us as players have fun... We need to find a new way to have fun and play this game together and remake multiplayer all over again. If you really do love the servers that you play on.... and really do care about those servers then you will donate and they will still be there. Just because you don't get your power-ups or extras isn't such a bad thing. I feel like too many people here have gotten used to being OP. There are so many issues.... I can't really take Mojang's side completely because I know that those who have donated... they will lose that money. I do not believe that is okay. I'm sorry if this post has offended any of you.... but let us please try and be a good community that isnt divided anymore.
Then really no one should be griping if they never read it. Ignorance of the conditions does not give the players any extra rights. The players are obligated to read the terms and conditions and if they don't.... they don't have any right to complain when Mojang chooses to use those terms.
Woah woah woah, a representative of mojang calling others 'retard' ? Now this gives me a real reason to promote to others not to listen to mojang if that is how one of their employees has to act

That's often true, but you might read it when you go log into your server and your ISP and suspended your account after receiving a C&D letter from Mojang.
That's often true, but you might read it when you go log into your server and your ISP and suspended your account after receiving a C&D letter from Mojang.
Even if your account gets suspended, that won't stop a person from running their server in offline mode.
I mean come on, Mojang is pretty much "encouraging" piracy at this point.
As for the ISP situation, I would love to see how Mojang tries to get around Comcast user ISP contracts.
I for one think the new EULA rules are good and fair, but before you go and say something rude about it, i do find it a bit harsh that servers can no longer sell kits or ranks because i myself have purchased my fair share of kits and ranks.
The only way this will succeed, is if mojang recodes minecraft with a master-server. This would mean that if your account gets flagged for abusing these rules, they will suspend your ability from hosting a minecraft server on your account. This also means in order to run a server on any machine you need to login to your account.
So basically it will be just like minecraft client.
1. Login, to host server.
2. Check if account is flagged for violations.
3. If not violation, host server.
4. Profit.
ELSE
3. Account flagged for violations.
4. Server disabled for online play, only LAN players can join.
5. YOU LOSE, GOOD DAY SIR.
That is the only way mojang can control servers, which i doubt their team will program. So 100,000 servers will continue to operate and abuse the EULA, which means absolutely crap. I don't see how this will be beneficial to anyone.
I think that Minecraft Realms might be what you are talking about.

I definitely think that it would have been better to enfore their policy a long time ago, so this problem never started.
Please don't do this....
Servers like hypixel would possibly die... and in my opinion, that would be terrible!
And i think that mojang would lose money too... many people are buying minecraft for servers like that...
If any server can't support itself through legal means it's their own fault, but I definitely would be sad if Mineplex died.
I think there needs to be a EULA in to protect everyone.
However, the question of allowing servers to be monetized becomes a double edged sword.
On one side there are those that take advantage of their players for their own gain.
On the other there are a great number of quality servers that need the monetization to pay for hosting.
Many of these will be lost in the wake of this decision to block in game perks.
I think a better way is amend the EULA to allow monetization so long as the same perks can be achieved through a fair system of gameplay.
To that end I have created a petition asking Mojang to amend their EULA with this in mind.
Maybe there can be a system in place that players can report servers that are unfair or servers can get their servers approved similar to a BBB stamp. Those that agree please sign the petition. Let's change the rule not violate it.
Wait, so we are no longer allowed to sell things like kits, and other stuff legally... so half the servers in mine craft are gone...
Let me give you some examples of people that are no longer following the EULA:
Mineplex
Hypixel
Skydoesminecraft's Server
And pretty much mostly every other server in the universe, including mine. This is very disappointing.

4 solutions off the top of my head:
-Get advertisers to advertise in your server for cash.
-Have people donate to keep the server up, out if pure generosity.
-Pay for the server with your own money.
-Only include non-gameplay-affecting items in kits.

Yes. Yes I do.
I feel its just about time this happens. I've been banned on several occasions from a server due to the server owner preferring the story of a pay to play player, over my truthful story. My point in this comment, is that server admins/owners shouldn't have a right to charge. AT ALL. Minecraft is supposed to be relaxing correct? Well, how can i relax when people who bought god swords and god armor, and banging down my door, trying to kill me? Once again, they shouldn't have a right to charge on a game, for a game that one other owns.

Yeah, my question is how do I report servers to Mojang for violation? MinePlex ed me off and I want them destroyed, soon.
First Of All, The Main And Probably Only Reason Of The New EULA Is That Mojang Are Getting Complains Of Parents Saying That Their Kids Are Paying $200 For A Special Feature On A Server. Now, The Parents Are Sending E-Mails To Mojang's Staff That Why Did You Make My Kid Pay $200 On Something That Is Stupid/Useless Or Asking To Get A Refund On What Their Kid Just Wasted On.
First Of All, For All Those Parents Who Might Be Reading This Comment, Why Are YOU Letting Your Kid Have Access To Your Credit Card. I Mean, You Parents Have To Know What Your Kid Is Buying Before Even Lending It. Parents Are Smart Enough To Know What Their Kid Is Going To Buying Before Using Something So Delicate Like The Credit Card, Or For The Best, To Ask Your Kid "What Are You Going To Buy Before I Give You The Credit Card?"
I Mean IF Parents Where Much Careful Than Giving Access To Something So Delicate Like The Credit Card, Than Mojang Most Likely Would've Not Been Releasing The New EULA, Because I'm Totally Disagreeing With This New EULA, I Love Servers Offering Some Perks, Kits, Or Ranks Because Its Just Not Benefiting Me, Its Benefiting The Server And All Of Its Members, Because It Is Inspiring People To Donate, It Is Inspiring Owners To Put More Effort On Something To Keep The Work.
Well At The' End, Whether I Like It Or Not, The EULA Is Coming Up. Remember, This Is My Opinion On The New EULA, And I Can't Do Nothing About It. Mojang Is Tired On The New 1.8 Updates And For Receiving Many Mails (I Get It), But If Mojang Rethink Of This Situation, They Might Notice That They Will Be Losing More Money Than They Can Expect. At The End, Mojang Might Regret It, Some People Could Stop Playing Minecraft And Go Play Or Do Something Else .
Lots of people will stop playing minecraft, that's for sure. Not a single minecraft server changed their server shops, yet. I checked all the popular minecraft servers. I think they will just continue doing what they ever did. If they stop, they will lose money, because nobody will donate anything anymore. I won't donate anything for cosmetic stuff like colored chat prefix - lol. Nobody would donate for such things.
From the EULA:
you may not
give copies of our Game to anyone else;
make commercial use of anything we‘ve made;
try to make money from anything we‘ve made; or
let other people get access to anything we‘ve made in a way that is unfair or unreasonable.
No word about donations there. It just says you may not sell permissions to players on your server. But what if you just receive a donation and decide to give the player a "thank-you" package because you feel good today and want to make this guy happy? they can't stop this, there is nothing they can do about it, and they know it.
I have a suggestion for Majong: why not just force server admins to pay a small fee for the right to receive unlimited donations / money for ingame advantages.
I understand what Mojang is trying to do here... They are trying to make it so no one player can be the so called "god" of the server by paying a couple hundred dollars for some items. I would be fine with all of these new rules, IF they had cracked down on them in the first place. Enforcing the new rules right away would have prevented any of these issues from arising now.
Then really no one should be griping if they never read it. Ignorance of the conditions does not give the players any extra rights. The players are obligated to read the terms and conditions and if they don't.... they don't have any right to complain when Mojang chooses to use those terms.

Minecraft survivalist!
everyone that owns a server is against it.
everyone that wants to own a server is against it.
everyone who can see that no one will play minecraft multiplayer if there is a connection fee to servers.
everyone who plays singleplayer only supports it (if they have noticed it)
