Anyone miss good ol' minecraft where it was hard to survive and food was scarce? P.S. Im talking about like 1.0. does anyonemiss it?i dont knw hy this was posted three times
You know what i miss? everyone pretty much uses mods now (including me on my other directory) even through after a while original gameplay gets a little old.. I liek chopping down the trees bit by bit, not just downloading some mod that does it ALL for you (ahem, tree capitator) But i guess that's just their style of playing.
But the old versions like beta and stuff can be accessed from the new launcher, anytime.. I do kind of miss the simple MC days where there was few biomes, just like forests and plains i thinks, and it was more of a challenge. You can also get rare resources way too easy. Iron pick is all you need for diamonds, i thought there used to be this whole tool level thing?

If I make another move there'll be no more turning back~
Old Minecraft is no good to me because I started in Official Release 1.4, so to me, this topic could go to hell.

No. I remember when this game was first publicly released, I played early free and demo versions. I hated Alpha, largely because of the snobby "look at us--we're so cool playing Minecraft" community that had formed around it. I didn't bother to buy it until Beta, and even then I stopped playing it completely for two years out of lack of interest. Now, with 1.7 content and mods, I can't imagine quitting this game for two years again.
And as said above, if you really miss the old versions, just go into Edit Profile in the launcher and choose an earlier version to play. Isn't that nice of Mojang? I can't think of any other game studio that lets you so easily access earlier versions of their main product like that. Enjoy.
I miss single player being a single player game and not a client/server setup with one player joining locally. The lag and other issues that has caused are my worst complaints about the game because it really has made performance worse than what it was before client/server single player. Now they have worked out a bunch of issues but there is still lag in single player now.
I miss being able to torch a whole forest with one click b because fire would spread much easier and further. But I like the new Minecraft best as there is just so much more content and more you can do.

Great more minecraft nostalgia people. Sigh exactly what this forum needs more "MINECRAFT IS DYING, ALPHA WAS BETTER" and "JEB IS DESTROYING MINECRAFT"
Glad we have another topic saying the same exact thing.
Miss it? I still play it. Just yesterday I was bringing home a bunch of iron to my house in my beta 1.6.6 world. I have my beta 1.6.6 world and a world in 1.4 (my favorite official release).

Let me know if my posts are helpful or if you like them. That's what I'm here for.
I am currently lurking more than I am posting. I haven't gone anywhere.
I only get mildly sentimental when it comes to the old days of Minecraft. Two small things I miss though: The sounds that doors made when you opened them, I loved it and want it back :D. Also, I somewhat miss being able to quickly blast through dirt, wood, and other materials with a diamond pick.
However when I got the game in december of 2010- THOSE were the good old days. I loved that period of minecraft development.
