True. It takes a lot of dedication to make a full pack that looks good. Not to mention more than a little skill. I don't recommend doing to speed run like I did if it's your first pack, though. Give yourself time to fully explore and get a style going. If you press yourself too hard, you'll end up hating what you create.
Yes it does. Originally, it was going to be a "cartoon" pack (in reality, it was a simplistic pack), but then after exploring these forums, I learned that Simplistic Packs are most likely going to be frowned upon. So I decided to put a lot more effort into it.
At first I did push myself too hard, like;
"This is too dark"
"This doesn't look right"
"There's one pixel out of place!" (OCD to blame)
"It looks too rough"
"I wish I have Photoshop" (I have to work with Paint.NET)
"IT ALL HAS TO BE PERFECT"
Wow ! Instantly in love with all the green. I'm not sure how long my eyes will be able to take the palette but I'm definitely adding this in to see your work, and keep it as a "fresh mint" change of pace!
I'll come back and let you know what I think after I've walked around in it!
I personally think 16x is way the easiest. 32x looks better but is sometimes harder to pull off. For my 8x pack I made tons of textures a day because they were so fast to do, but every now and then it took me time to make something detailed. So I suppose for higher resolutions it's the other way around, it's easy to put detail but it takes a long time.
Personally, I think 16x is hardest for me. It's only because of the small space, and the difficulty for me to get the right shapes and detail. But after working on m 32x pack for quite some time, I might be able to pull off a 16x. I might even take a brake from it and make a small 16x project for fun and see how it turns out! Maybe it'll turn into a bright colored pack that gives me the nostalgia feeling of when I first discovered Texture Packs.
(I like to keep busy with projects so I have something to do, but I don't stress over them with deadlines.)

Thank you for having the good sense not to publish another simple pack. Many blessings upon your home.

Yea, I know. A little better than most people's first packs... but I paid a lot of money for a crappy art degree I really can't get a job with, so it darn well better be good for something!

Believe it or not, it's not that bad. Most of the pack is fairly muted, and easy on the eyes. The grass isn't excessively harsh either as I tried to balance between green, which people have a higher sensitivity to; and blue, which people have a lower sensitivity to.
and since you're so speedy, d'you think you could try for terrafirmacraft support? (you may read this as a joke if you choose)
I'm not doing mod support for this pack. At least, not unless it somehow gets super popular. Honestly it's just a matter of where my time is most valuable. I'm planning to add TFC support to my other pack, Sanity, sometime in the future though. Check it out and tell me what you think.

Best wishes with whatever you decide to work on. If you ever need a critique, please let me know. I love seeing what people have done, and giving them friendly advice of what they could do better.
Here are my absolutely subjective thoughts about it :
+ Diamond tools : floating shards, that's original, and it looks nice.
+ The paintings are great.
+ GUIs make me think of Sonic Advance for some reason, which is good in my book.
+ The way you did the buff/debuf display gave me ideas.
+ Mobs, especially the enderman and the enderdragon.
+ New snapshot blocks textures.
Thanks for the compliments!
The GUI isn't supposed to look like Sonic Advance (though it is a reference to a different game), but looking at it I can see why you might say that. As for the status icons giving you ideas, it's funny because your GUI pack was one that I looked at for inspiration for some of the GUI elements. I'm happy that I can give a little bit of it back.
- Not fond of the overall minty theme.
- Cart wheels are a bit too big on the item imo.
- Diamond armor feels too decorative and not protective enough.
- A bit 'meh' on the Wither, maybe because I can't figure out if it is supposed to be a floating carnivorous plants or the fusion of 3 red and green clothed bikers from hell with Daft Punk-esque helmets.
- Ingots, that's a nice shift from MC original textures, but feels weird to me.
Not much I can do about you not liking the minty theme.
The diamond armor, and all of the tools, are supposed to feel magical. They're not supposed to make rational sense, because they're not constructions of a rational world. That's just the concept I had in my head when making them, though. There's really no story behind this pack or anything.
The Wither is loosly based on a Xel'lotath Horror from one of my favorite games of all time: Eternal Darkness - Sanity's Requiem. It's a different sort of three-headed monster. Mainly for mine I took the general color scheme (green and red) and the idea that the heads are giant eyes instead of proper heads; a quality unique to Xel'lotath Horrors.
As to the ingots... yea, they're a bit odd. I wanted something a bit unique, though, so I decided to make the iron ones squares rather than rectangles; and re-conceptualized the gold ingots as small treasures.
I'm happy that you like the pack for the most part, though.
Hey Alvoria, I really enjoy your texture packs, and I consider it and honor that you critiqued my pack. I was wondering if I can include a reference in my splashes.txt. I have many other references to many other packs, like Misa's, Dokucraft and more. Here are the 2 splashes to your 2 packs:
Do you like the §aMint Flavor§e?
Keep your Sanity in check!
EDIT:
Shoot, I think it's apart of the rules to talk about the texture pack if you're posting a comment.
I seriously love the green in this pack, when I'm playing my survival world with this, I can actually feel (and taste) the Mint. I think you did an amazing job overall

Go for it!
I'm a big fan of little references and in-jokes for the splashes. Just look at the ones I've got for my own packs. I'd be honored if you'd include references to my packs in your splashes text!

As long as the discussion is relevant to the topic (this pack) then it's fine. Since you're including a reference to this pack, it's topical.
But thanks for the compliments! I really appreciate them!
aHHH I just want to say I LOVE your teture pack it's super beautiful and awesome and, I JUST WANT YOU TO MAKE MORE!! <3 Love love !! <3
Thank you!
Aside from updating to newer versions of Minecraft when they come out, I'm not really planning to work on this pack anymore. It's really not at all popular, so nobody gives me useful feedback that I can use to improve or expand it. If you love this one that much there's a 32x pack that I've had in the works for almost a year now called "Regalia" that you might like. There's a preview thread somewhere on the forum (long dead now) but if you'd like a link I'm sure I could give it to you.
Its got potential. You've done a pretty good job, only thing s the nether. >.< Its so hard to distinguish blocks! Cant really tell to well what's going on because they ar all so similar. But besides that it looks pretty awesome:)

Which blocks did you find difficult to tell apart? This pack isn't in active development, but if there's a problem that's preventing you from enjoying it I still want to hear about it and try to correct it. At least as much as I can given the very limited palette of this pack.

I still find myself doing that.
Like this.

IDEA: Why not try 14w28a guardians?(If you haven't done those already)
no, really.I mean it!
Thanks! I'm glad you like my packs!
As to your suggestion, look a little closer at the screenshot posted a little earlier on this page.
True, but with your skill it would probably also be a much better looking pack.
Let me know if you do give it a try. I'm very interested to see if other people will take on this ludicrous challenge, and what the outcome is.
