The sarcasm is strong in this one, you go steal SarcasmLord's name.
You're too late. Turns out nobody has thought of my user name before, and I now have it universally claimed with everything I use. Youtube, MC Forums, Twitch, League of Legends, Steam, Twitter, and the list is only expanding! >=)
Random loot, plain environments, poor use of custom mobs, weak balancing, too many spawners, bad last intersection.
I'm not here to fight with any of you. I respect all of your opinions, I hope none of you take offense to my opinions either as the can be argued (Or is that Sarcasm? *Wink [you'll Never know]), I only hope you'll take my opinions for just that, and not treat me too harshly for a different opinion.
The random loot annoyed me a bit, the environment was a little plain, but as was the sacrifice in making a map with only 1 block top used as a base block and theme of fire and lava. If it's considered plain, the same could be said about Kazio Caverns. Both IM and Kazio Caverns, had mainly 1 base block with the same theme throughout the entire map but (IMHO) both maps made up for it with the interestingly designed and shaped areas.
The use of custom mobs was the first map where he had access to such customization and power in mobs, so it was a first attempt at using them. Nobody can do things right always first time around, especially since 1.5 wasn't out when he started development on the map.
Admittedly, the amount of spawners was grotesque, but I still found the balancing to work and found the map enjoyable even if I died a few times to cheap deaths. (It is a map series called Super Hostile after all!)
I think it actually is a huge step. Mechanically the entire way the player plays the game and how hard he has to work to get to the top of the metaphorical food chain is decided by the way the custom mobs were made, and this was his first map to flirt with such ideas.
In this map he did some unique things that he's not done in his maps before.
First official map to use Fleecy Mobs as well as Fleecy Boxes, first linear branching map to not have the standard intersection all the way through,
first map that's linear branching and purely underground to have an area that's hundreds of blocks across so it's hard to see the walls and ceiling that's got enough room for exploration and tons to find in your efforts for exploring, first map to be linear branching and making almost the entire thing lapse back around like a snake in a giant ring, first map to introduce practical mob farming for more than just xp or bones for food he made mob farming have a combat use (Like the flame venom teeth), first map to use and fully implement environmental dangers (Vexian Death blooms and the sort) that must be avoided that can't even be survived in with stacked healing potions (which is big one IMO, it forces the player to actually have to avoid things and plan around it to make progress there's no head on trying to get past a Vexian death bloom.).
They're are probably a few more, but that's all I got for now.
TLDR: I spent way to much time writing this for a tldr. Read it you damn lazies!
Hey Vechs/Vechz not that you'll probably read this but I have an idea you might be able to use in future maps of yours. In Inferno Mines while I think the random loot was an interesting concept it came to a slight problem of there being far too much stuff to carry with you and having just a lot of stuff left behind. What I think would be cool for most average loot (i.e. not the lapis block stuff) have a currency system in the maps. So boxes instead of dropping random loot would drop emeralds and there would be villagers with specific trades around the map so you could use your money to purchase the equipment you need.
You could even have hidden/secret villagers for slightly better bought stuff. Also you could do things like limit the number of times a person could buy certain things and other stuff. Primarily this would help to make the inventory more compact and streamlined for stuff like low armor/weapons, wood, blocks, enchanting bottles, torches, non-stacked potions, ect. Could have the villagers in the environment or in a area that you could teleport to or whatever.
Not sure if this idea would be any good but just thought it would be an interesting concept to help reduce the inventory problems.
Based on the video he posted today on youtube it would seem that he did see my suggestion (or it was a vast coincidence) So it would seem he does check this forum after all =)

He doesn't check is fourm and there's no way you can claim that idea as your own. That system has been in other CTM maps for a long time.
I think Vechs may check this thread. Just because he doesn't post here doesn't mean he doesn't check it. Perhaps he will be discouraged by all the hate. >: (
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
Hey there, all. I stream CTMs as well as other indie games, Minecraft servers and probably that's it. I'm your supreme overlord too so I command you to CHECK ME OUT: www.twitch.tv/techniclepanther
i am happy now, but i didn't do this for "political correctness;" i did it because i am spiteful and no other reason besides that.
And by saying you're not doing it for political correctness, and you want it changed. Therefore you want it to be politically correct. A paradox within itself.
Actually, I know he checks the thread. I'm in a skype group chat with him, and he has regularly talked about comments here. >.>
Normally I'd shrug what you say off, because this is the internet and people claim stuff like that all the time. But, I've seen you around the community so I'll just assume it's true. Aren't you an admin on the Hypixel server? Thought I saw you there yesterday.
Also, apparently we live somewhat close to each other based on the MC Forums location. Do you live in downtown The Void or the suburbs of The Void?
I think it would be cool if, when you post the description of a map, you could post the version of minecraft it was originally made for, or what it is updated for, so that you can play on the correctly balanced form of the map, and perhaps not deal with incompatibilities from newer versions. This would be nice when playing older maps

Fell in lava with the brown wool in my inventory on Sea of Flame II. First one I've ever played and played it with my brother. Decided we lost because of it, so we're gonna try the next map.
Hi friends. When's Vechs' next map out? I'm really excited to play it. Have you got any suggestions for gimmicks me and my good bros can use to replay Spellbound Caves (the best map) in a fresh kind of style? Thanks in advance. Lots of respect for the regular posters in this thread. Peace and God Bless.
First of all, don't expect the new map to come out really soon. I am also very excited to play it
And for the spellbound caves suggestion, I got a few:
1) UHC Mode
If you're playing on 1.6 (1.7 not recommended), type "/gamerule naturalRegeneration false". In case you don't know, your health does not regen naturally. Use healing items (potion, golden apples, etc.) to regain lost hearts.
Optional: - Play on hard.
- Once you or your brother dies, no respawning.
2) The Fun Path Challenge
Created by Quarkboy. Basically no directly placing/breaking blocks (fleecy blocks/sand on chests are fine to break. Basically no tunneling), and no potions. Google it.
3) Versus Mode
You and your brother go head to head collecting the most wool, in the same save file. Combat & stealing is allowed (unless you don't want).
Check on youtube for the channel "Winthermaw". Same game mode, but played on Inferno Mines.
And there are a lot of game modes people have created over on youtube. And probably you should make your own challenges

Right now I'm trying your super hostile sun burn islands map. This is the first map I played by you. So far its been fun! But I don't like the pigman with enchanted signs on the lapis made islands
Vechs can you please make a patch for Sunburn islands becuase the bug where all the water blocks are moving crashes my game as soon as i open up that world. I had to delete it in the end which really was unfortunate. Also, is the download for Inferno Mines corrupted by any chance because I downloaded it in 1.6 and played it through. Then I tried to replay it by downloading it again but it always glitches out and never works. The map does not load in at all and i teleport into a void filled area of rain.
Thanks
Hi Vechs and anyone else reading this! After Playing Inferno Mines for a while i got an idea whilst enchanting gear and books. It took so long to get 30 lvls with the "Vexian XP Blaster" so i made an own design on it, this design is much faster but it has one con, if you start of with 0 lvl and proceed into starting the XP Blaster you will have to turn it off when you reach around 16 lvl for it to reach 30 lvl. this is because it sends out so many Xp orbs you can't pick them all up. they will float around you slowly being absorbed. I used a redstone rapid pulser to make it and powered it with a lever. No preassure plates are needed for this design which helps because of the need ti sinstantly stop at lvl 16. i hope this helps and if you dont know what this clock is just search on youtube: Rapid Pulse Tutorial With Redstone - Minecraft HD
To control the clock wire the lever with a repeater into one of the blocks on this clock. This clock does make a lot of noise after a while but you can live with it, and this clock has worked since the beginning of redstone! :3
Dude! this is amazing!
I have no doubt in my mind that Vechs will add this to Inferno Mines, and probably all other maps
We at GingeWegian just started playing super hostile Spellbound caves, we are enjoying the map alot and wanted to share our footage with you other super hostile fans
Great stuff Vechs! Keep it up
Here is our first episode let us know what you think.
Love the map started making some of my own. Would be a big help if people played mine and gave feedback! my new map Is the lost hunter. Would be awesome if you guys checked it out!
