So let me get this straight. You can't sell parts on minecraft that regular players DONT have access to. But can we still "speed up the process" from donating? Like on a survival games server, you can't give donators access to diamonds swords if they're not allowed, but you can if it is allowed?
No, what they are saying is, you can charge people but it doesn't change the fact that you still have to offer the feature for free. It's code for "they can donate to the server or pay to access the server, but you can't sell individual items that are only limited to the buyers." Essentially they are saying no, but in political speak. I think it would've been better for them to just say no then to say it the way they worded it.
i think that measn that you can charge a player to access the minigames server...
but all who have paid to access said minigames server, have to be given the same access.
one player cant be give a kit with a bow and 64 arrows, while another is given a kit with a diamond sword. everyone ether has to be give the same kit to fight with (if its a combat minigame)
or the same permissions. or the same access to water and buckets and so on
(the charge for my minigames or mods)
I'm sorry, are you saying that they both have to have the same access to kits or that they have to have the SAME kit?

They are saying you can't sell kits without making them available to nonpayers as well. Basically, you can donate for kits, but it doesn't change the fact that non-donators must have the same access to those kits.

That wasn't my question. I think the answer to his is that as long as they both have access to both kits, then sure one can have a diamond sword and another can have bow/arrow.

Are you sure that's what you're saying? Because if it is then basically things like hypixel's weapon kits are still legal..... donors bypass the money system while non-donors have to still work for it.

Yeah, that's actually NOT permitted. As far as I know.

if it is not listed as a donor perk, and the server owner one day "happens" to feel nice and "give away" some items there is really no history of it as a transaction, you need to thin outside the box with these things.
What part of "everyone should get what donors get" you don't understand? If he feels generous, then he should give it to everyone on the server and not to a select few especially not to the donors. If you want loopholes, someone figured it out already by having a system where everyone online gets a prize if someone donates so you can technically make it exclusive if you donate while no one is online.
Yeah, that's actually NOT permitted. As far as I know.
It's all very simple but made complex by the wording from Mojang. Basically you can sell access to the server, but you can't sell items that aren't available to everyone anyways. In other words, you can't have a kit that you sell that is only available to buyers. It's really simple but people keep making it complicated by trying to talk their way around the EULA. And judging by the open letter being suggested to be retweeted on Hypixel's forum, I'm guessing they got their answer from Mojang and in fact are being required to comply with it just like every other server. Glad that Mojang isn't being hypocritical on this by exempting anyone.

Eh, that's not quite what I saw. You can't convert money into ingame items, is what I got from my reading...

no, i was saying that (from what i understand)
while you can give a kit to players (who have payed to have access to your minigame server) and it can contain anything you want...all players in that minigame server have to be given the same things.
or you can give them nothing and watch them punch each other.
i dont use pvp in minecraft, and the only minigames servers i have seen, were about staying on the right colour of wool so you didnt fall down, or picking the correct shade of wool so you were not a looser or even making sure you didnt fall down a hole from a snake style game (where the snow dissapeared behind your player as they walked)
im saying that, from the information given there, that you can give or not give players whatever if they have paid to enter your minigame server. you just have to make sure that everyone gets the same stuff. or no stuff. equal.
THAT is allowed, definitely, but...Who're you responding to?

Gonna quote the OP here to make you understand that you have apparently misread what Mojang said:
Can I sell “kits” for hard currency if I provide a balanced alternative for non-paying users?
If the “kits” contain gameplay-affecting features they are not allowed. Gameplay balance is not relevant to the EULA. If the items included in the kit are purely cosmetic, you can charge real money/hard currency.

that was in reply to winter mage who wanted me to explain the bolded part, but the original was replying to a page back who had asked about monetizing your minigames server, and asking about kits.
thats the problem with forums. when you dont have the knack of quoting people (like i dont have the knack lol) you can end up replying to a page back

That's not correct, go back and read Mojang's response.
Show me where it says that players can not pick different non-donor kits in a pool of different kits? So what? Mojang is essentially banning servers that have different combat classes that are not donor?

I miss when donations meant you were doing something to be helpful without expecting anything in return other than the satisfaction that you were doing something good. Donating with the expectation of goods in return is like you donating your money to Publix in return for a basket of groceries in return.

show me the fine print.
THERE IS NO FINE PRINT. They said VERY CLEARLY that you cannot sell kits that alter the gameplay, and that gameplay balancing was not a factor in the EULA. That means that you can sell "kits" that alter cosmetic appearance for real money, but you CANT sell "kits" that change the gameplay for real money. There's no need for fine print because, English. It's all there plain and simple, I can't explain it any clearer without pie charts and bar graphs.

well, if you can ask players to pay to use your minigame server, how do you give them items to fight with?
arent mingames fast things, that players go into like the old mini fights in warsong gulch (warcraft)
arent the main minigames pvp ones where folks fight eachother? do you have to spend 30mins befor each minigame punching trees and making swords or does the minigame automaticaly give you something to kill with?
im asking because i dont know. not because im being sarcastic or anything.
i havent PvP'd since vanilla minecraft and guild wars 1 snowball fighs XD
if the game automaticaly gives a player something, isnt that a kit? (at the start of a minigame i mean)
PvP minigames...Well, go and try one, I'd think. They're hard to explain and there are varieties of minigames. But basically, you either get all the same kit or a selection from different kits. I've seen one server in which you actually made/enchanted swords/armor from a chest of infinite diamonds, but that's only one example.

Seriously though the best solution to this would just be anyone running a server hosted by beastnode, fragnet, etc, a portion of the monthly bill goes to mojang, that way servers can stay the way they are and mojang gets a profit from the monetizing
