Well, This is just awful. apparently i have lost the $200 or so i've spent on minecraft servers. big mistake mojang. BIG mistake. you've just lost a player. And that player is extremely angry…(Another thing: mojang, you have just made most minecraft servers pay to play. is that really what you want?)

Let me guess, you didn't read the FAQ? Essentially, servers can still grandfather your perks. They do still have to give access to the perks to regular players, but they don't have to just hand it over it seems, they can still make the regular players work for it.
Of course, when they grandfather players (or even if they don't), no more perk donations can be made.
This is so unfair. i mean, charging access to a server is so much worse than selling parts of the game/mods/plugins. by charging access, your making your players buy everything!

By charging access yet getting rid of the p2w things(any advantage is considered p2w) it ensures a balance and a compromise.
People will honestly only pay access to the server is it proves to be good quality, which is probably one of the community goals, to have good quality servers.
Server owners aren't obligated to allow free access to the server, if they choose to charge access to a server they are running with their time, effort, and money, then that is their right that Mojang has endorsed.
If its an issue of keeping it up then you should have KNOWN from the start that you would need to fund your server with your money.
If you expected to run a server with the majority coming from donations then honestly you shouldn't be butt hurt.
Don't be surprised if you're unlucky enough for Mojang to target your server if you break the rules, which they have every right to enforce seeing as you are selling their property with out their permission, no matter where the money goes.

I did read it, however, its still an awful idea for Mojang to do this, if you don't know why, then you're as ignorant as Mojang is. They have no idea what they've done. They think that they've stopped insane donations?! Hah. they've increased the amount of them! now people will be charging $100 just so you can get on their server! ugh.

it is quite different from p2w.

I still think that pay to play is even worse than pay to win. At least with pay to win you can always find another server. Pay to play you're limited to a small selection of servers that somehow managed to get by with selling /hat.

Are you that delusional? Were you the one that posted to cursing comment and calling people ignorant?
Because if you are, then your overreacting attitude has apparently gone to your head.
Read your own comment then think if what you're saying is actually reasonable or just ranting trash.
You still think Mojang doesn't know the effect of enforcing the EULA? At worst, people will go back to creating private servers and playing with their friends which does not affect sales at all considering that is how Minecraft started that way. I rarely play on public server myself because I enjoy playing minecraft with a few of my friends and not having to deal with pay to win servers.
So why force a public server with the current EULA? Are you still trying to convince yourself your are entitled to make money out of minecraft when Mojang wants to limit it? If mojang wants to make minecraft a full time job, they would do so and support it but they won't.
Mojang should of NEVER messed with anything. That is the point, I am not trying to make it a FULL TIME JOB, I want them to let us accept donations in any means necessary to help keep a public server up and running for a place that players can go to. Why should one person make a private server for friends if they do not want to? Public servers make minecraft a better experience, ands that is a fact because ever since I found out about how fun multiplayer servers are, I HAVE NEVER GONE BACK TO SINGLE PLAYER. Minecraft made most of their money because of multiplayer servers. I actually got some players of mine to buy minecraft when I went from a cracked server, to prime server. Multiplayer servers are the backbone of Minecraft for mojang. END OF STORY.

My god, you don't even read peoples names before you read the comment? also, By the way, with people charging 1000$ for ranks now, do you REALLY think they would hesitate to charge that much for logging in? you think to much of people (except, of course, the people who disagree with you.)

Yeah, the $10K rank people will just transition to $10K subscriptions...

well there is also nothing in the eula about server admins tping all donors into a small room every now and then and hosting donor only drop parties.
It still falls under the part where every part of the server must be free for all the players in the server. Non payers get what donators get including drop parties. No exceptions.

What's stopping you from asking donations provided you don't give donators special gameplay treatment? If you can make people pay for your server with donations alone, then good for you. But don't go crying if people are now less likely to donate w/o any power attached to it. What draws players to play in multiplayer is the ability to play together and it doesn't matter if you have 10 or 1000 players in the server. People will still play minecraft multiplayer after EULA and the only difference is smaller public servers and more private servers.

I'll still what? I hate pay to win. I just think that pay to win is better than pay to play.

I have mixed feelings about mojang interfering with people's servers this way (it's their server, they should be allowed to do what they want). But I think it will affect the multiplayer for the better, I pretty much quit multiplayer because all of them included tons of overpowered gear if you donated. I might just get back into it if this works.
I totaly agree with you there. But even though its there servers, its mojangs game, so really they have the right to make the rules.

Honestly you need to calm down about everything.... Also.... Did someone actually request a refund? If so, how did they donate?

[EDIT] Sorry it took so long, I had the go through the console records XD
