Where are you guys getting these statistics???? Have you taken a polling of the Minecraft community?? You can't just make up statistics like that. That's not how the world works!
Exactly, I never knew you were a human stat-maker, or are you a bot
I support the new EULA rules. So servers will charge everyone a tiny amount for access instead of charging a few people a lot for perks, so what. Getting on a server for free was a crappy user experience anyway.

Uh yes it does, lol, almost all the time statistics are made up on the spot during debates
I don't see a problem with that other than you have to scale down servers. Is there a hidden reward by reaching a certain amount of players online? Mojang did not take your ability to charge money but they simply limit it. Adapt to it and move on.
If your only argument is 'get over it' then... I really can't value anything you say on this.

IT's how the Internet works, and for once I think the doomsayers are right.
But you are forgetting that all the servers charging money in any way from their players are "illegal" under the current EULA. The new one gives the operators the opportunity to earn money in a way Mojang approves.
Yes, but we can still disagree that they haven't gone quite far enough. And while I may be a terrible judge of distance, I think the middle ground is something prohibiting excessive *excessive* (excessive) prices or cutoff of gameplay features, or excessively OP perks.

Quoting myself again to remind people what is their place in Minecraft.
I quote you as a WORKING ADULT, you are full of crap. Why should I pay out of pocket when players can keep it up for you with donations. Yes I have money, but does that mean all of my money has to go to a server? No. What you do NOT seem to get is there are server owners out there who use donations as a way to prevent various things happening such as grief, if a player donates money, they are less likely to grief. If you do not get the concept, you are one thick skulled individual.
And exactly how would a server owner deal with this? I've already stopped my server because I'n afraid that I have something "Illegal" on there >.< And all of my donators might not keep their ranks, and the fact that I might possibly lose my server, and all of the money I put in to it was just a big waste!

That completely explains how the people supporting the EULA changes are!

You still think Mojang doesn't know the effect of enforcing the EULA? At worst, people will go back to creating private servers and playing with their friends which does not affect sales at all considering that is how Minecraft started that way. I rarely play on public server myself because I enjoy playing minecraft with a few of my friends and not having to deal with pay to win servers.

So why force a public server with the current EULA? Are you still trying to convince yourself your are entitled to make money out of minecraft when Mojang wants to limit it? If mojang wants to make minecraft a full time job, they would do so and support it but they won't.
Let me put it in the nicest way possible: If you support this then you clearly don't understand any aspect of other players, or the true concept of this.

Except, except, except. Most people like a more well-crafted experience than running a server off of someone's laptop or something. And those better servers need to be able to support themselves. Alas, with this new system, you either have a paywall people really won't want to pay for, or cosmetics that will be epically useless on a majority of servers.

Don't forget the fact that there won't hardly be enough players on a server to pay for stuff anyways.

I run a small server (20 ppl online at peaks) and I will do what I can to make sure we operate within the new rules. I do however have two question, I am struggling about:
Am I allowed to provide game-play features like flying etc. to my players, say when they have played on the server for 100 hours? By doing this I am providing everyone an equal opportunity to get flying (it wont be purchasable in the donation store). From reading the Q/A I get the sense that it would not be allowed,
Furthermore - I need to provide my staff with game-play changing features such as spawning, creative mode and world edit. This is essential and there is no way I can ever run my server without it. How do I do this? My staff members will obviously have an "unfair advantage" over normal players. Is it allowed to have staff members with these advantages and still have them play with the regular players? (I can't just tell my staff to wait in spawn and never move).
If anyone has information that might help clear my questions, it would be much appreciated.
Thanks!
Staff and veterans can definitely have perks.. those are earned in-game.
It's just that Mojang doesn't want you SELLING those perks. You can do whatever you want as long as money sisn't involved.
if a player donates money, they are less likely to grief.
There is nothing stopping you from taking that into consideration when reviewing your op/mod applicants. I know, all other things being equal, I'd be more likely to give an admin rank to someone who had donated than someone who hadn't.
You can keep whatever rank structure you had, you just have to come up with some other method than direct sale to determine who should be in what rank. (I suggest an application and interview process.)

Yep...Staff perks are perfectly in the clear. But you can't buy staff ranks.

Which people? Strangers? I doubt your friends would mind if they are playing on a not so optimized server. This only brings back minecraft to its original intention of playing with friends and friends are more than willing to give you money to support the server if they want to keep playing. You can't anymore rely on the masses of strangers that wants power to keep the server going. What this means is that large scale servers will most likely be dead and small scale servers will be the norm. There is nothing wrong with a smaller server.
This. SO MUCH THIS. Thank you, sir.

False (unless your system includes capes). You just need to change the wording. "Donation" becomes "purchase".

Oh, and better yet, how the heck are you gonna get staff anyways? Will Mojang make it to where you can't even make an application?
