I have never EVER payed for anything on a server. But even I see this as stupid. I used to be against it, but Mojang are going to kill so many servers by doing this. Paying a one time optional fee for some bonuses and to keep a server running is fine in my eyes, but being forced to pay a subscription to play a server or help keep one running is stupid. What about those who don't want to pay? Can't anyone see that this is going to kill every single large server. Not everyone will be able to pay on large servers, and will have to not play them. Therefore, the community will be smaller. MOJANG ARE KILLING THE SERVERS!
Yeah the subscription thing really should not be in the EULA, I can agree on you on that
well in a game where character customization is actually a fun thing to do it is understandable.
I'm not sure what you mean by fun, since you can basically do that same exact thing in Minecraft and more, so technically its just as fun if not its more fun
To the person who created the plugin or minigame(Which most minigame servers just steal their ideas from other mini game servers) yes, but to a server who uses plugins made by other people and minigames made by other servers, which is the case most of the time, no.
Well, the server I play on has many of its plugins created from scratch, what about those servers? And then let's move away from mods, isn't something built by the server owner also their own content? If I build a statue of a dragon, what's the difference between displaying it on a server and showing it in a YouTube video?
Where do you draw the line on content? Minecraft is just the medium required to run, like how a statue can be built out of legos in real life, doesn't mean lego owns the statue.
My point is, as it stands, the implementation of this EULA is flawed and limiting to server owners. I understand restricting the sale of "10 cents for a diamond", but when you get into the ideas of mods, plugins, areas, minigames, and so on, it starts becoming a problem more than a helping hand.

I mean in games like fallout, loadouts, Dead Rising, etc... id much rather pay for clothes, because making your character look as goofy as possible is where a good portion of the fun is. In minecraft there are very few /hats that are funny, the hats mod is decent, and mojang suddenly feels like they have a copyright patent on capes.

Do you think the EULA is illegal or something? jeez.

If you're going to argue about legal matters, then you shouldn't argue against the EULA.
What part of this don't you understand? They couldn't have made their intentions any easier to understand here. Pretty soon it will be translated into legal-speak and implemented in a new EULA.
Understanding this isn't the problem. The problem is that you just don't like it.
You're not understanding what I'm saying, a week or two ago Mojang flat out said no one is allowed to have any kind of donation thing whatsoever. Then they go onto say you can, but you can't. Now they're giving us more freedom than a week or two ago. It's the fact that they keep changing their words ever so often. This exact thing happened with modding when they started enforcing their EULA a bit more in February.. or March, I can't remember. The EULA said mods are not allowed whatsoever, and yet Mojang had to step in and say that they are allowed, despite the EULA.

What's your point exactly? That they are inconsistent? That they are willing to compromise with the community?

That's my point. Many things that actually provide some incentive to players beyond aesthetics, such as minigames or special areas, are not allowed under this.

I'm starting to suspect that you are just here to try and advertise a server that's in violation of the EULA rather than to contribute to the discussion.

I'm not, I'm just bringing up the point how it is silly for them to get mad over some one using the mccapes mod.

Wonder how long it'll last...
So, could you please add to the conversation instead of just making pointless rebuttals.?
I hate to agree with you here, but I do. Also tadzar i'm confused as to which side you are on, your making comments supporting both sides
Click them or they will click you
Except the community isn't split between two different servers.
What's your point exactly? That they are inconsistent? That they are willing to compromise with the community?
Seriously.... you switch sides too often then you post about it....

Uh, no, I just think it's hurtful to server owners in this specific portion, that is all. Where did you get that impression?
