Minecraft emerald is ONLY used for a decoration block and trading with villagers, instead of going into something crazy like emerald armor and tools I think that we should make it so that there is a Jump potion, its the same thing as jump boost and made with a emerald. Because the only current way to get jump boost is with a command block and a very hard to get beacon, making a jump boost potion will make things easier, so #1 you can jump and kill the enderdragon if it flies over you but just out of range! #2 fences, EASY just jump over them! #3 Some of you may say "HOW are EMERALDS related to JUMP BOOTS!?" well... drinking ghast tears have nothing to do with regeneration and how are melons with nuggets jammed into them heal you?!
And this item isn't too op because beacons add a permanent jump boost while this potion isn't forever. AND Emeralds are hard to find and having a jump boost can be VERY handy when climbing a mountain or jumping over mobs!

It takes you 6 seconds to read all of this, 0.3 seconds to look at the egg, 0.2 seconds to click it, 3 seconds to read it's description, 1 second to exit out the page, and 10 seconds to forget it ever happened. :3
Some of you may say "HOW are EMERALDS related to JUMP BOOTS!?" well... drinking ghast tears have nothing to do with regeneration and how are melons with nuggets jammed into them heal you?!
Emeralds have been just currency for a while now, and it'd be goofy to just suddenly make them have "jump" powers.
Ghast Tears and Glistering Melons had a blank slate where they could have had any type of power for potions and it happened to be regeneration and instant healing in the end. Emeralds never had this blank slate, they started out as currency from day 1.
I can't say this idea is bad or would ruin anything, and I wouldn't care too much if this was added. So I'm neutral to the idea.
Emeralds do have a use; they are used to trade with villagers. They are not useless as you make it seem. Not everything in the game has to have a plethora of uses. Everything has its own use, and some items have multiple uses. However, that does not mean that they are "useless".
Even so, Emeralds do not make any sense as Jump Boost potions. Emeralds would make more sense as some sort of fortune potion, if anything. At least Ghast Tears and such have some relation to their respective potion. You also left out the ones that do make sense, such as Sugar for Swiftness, and Carrots for Night Vision.
Emeralds are currency. They have no relation to jumping. Ghast Tears are... what, exactly? They never had a purpose before they were regenerative. Glistening Melons are designed to be balanced, not sensible. And most other potion-making substances have some sort of logic behind them, though you didn't mention them.
As much as "it's realistic" is not an argument you should use, "it's not realistic, like these other things" is also not one you should use.
I do not agree that emeralds should be used as a jump boost, but I do think that a lot of players are overstocked with them and don't really need to trade with villagers. I support the idea that they should be used for something else.
I actually support even though they do have one use: currency. Currency is a little specific and useless after a playing in a world for a while though, but jump boost would be a very nice thing to add to the game. If they do add that feature the game then they should make the percentage of emeralds spawning a little bit higher and avalailabe to mine on a few other biomes beside the mountain one
Does an emerald need another use? It has one use and that is currency. I am really getting tired of people saying, "I don't use this, so I want it to have another use!"
No Support.

There are things known as the 10 Suggestion Commandments. Many know the obvious, such as, "Thou shalt search before typing thy post," or, "Thou shalt not be vague," but one that no one knows is, "Thou shalt organize thy post." More people need to know of this commandment.
Yes, I know emerald has ONE more use, but it ONLY has 2 uses, and ask yourself, WHAT does GHAST TEARS and MELONS with gold nuggets jammed in them have to do with regeneration and healing!? Cause if Ghast tears gave you regeneration I would go around making ghasts cry, and MELONS WITH GOLD NUGGETS JAMMED IN THEM, HOW do they heal?! Do they make you choke and respawn with full health!?
The point is that it doesn't matter if it makes no sense, I think it depends more on being CREATIVE !

No Support. While emeralds may seem somewhat useless, they still stand as a currency to trade with NPCS. A beacon is hard to get because it gives you some potion attributes that you can't normally make, such as jump boost. If you gave a jump boost potion, then the beacon would be pretty much useless, because you can get just about all the other potion affects the beacon gives you, from a brewing stand.

Trading allows you to get almost anything, it isn't 1 use.
Emeralds are one of the most usefull items in the game.
(at least now, in the snapshots vilagers no longer sell all diamond gear)
Ok, you don't see ME throwing melons with gold nuggets in MY drink! I would die of choking!

If you give an item designated as currency another use then it is useless as currency. This was seen with the introduction of sticky pistons, destroying slime balls' usefullness as currency.

I have never seen someone try so hard to ignore objections that have been made that they have no answer for. People have said numerous times that Emeralds are plenty useful, it just depends on if the player actually wants to trade. Unless you are in Extreme Hills or are already trading you won't run into Emeralds anyways.
But you keep arguing a point that not many people made in the first place. Yes, making potions out of other things makes equally little sense when you apply real world logic to it. But in game logic it makes sense. And the thing about basically every other potion ingredient is that it is ONLY used for Brewing, excluding Sugar which is also used in a single other recipe, and Spider eyes whoch are made into another Brewing ingredient. Emeralds on the other hand have 3 uses. Decoration, building a Beacon, or trading which gives you access to dozens of items.
And the random garbage about that annoying LPer was just uncalled for. No support.

Emeralds are money. You don't see me throw some euros in my drink, and jump three meters high after that. I'd probably die of metal poisoning, now that I think of it...
Oh, how on topic. I feel like many of your points have flaws too. You say that emeralds are rare to find, but in villages they're extremely easy to get, for example.
