So with TU14 released and the bug fixes on the way, it's safe to say that players will be content for about a month before they start clawing at 4J's doors demanding more.
But let's talk about theories about what could possibly be in the next feature update(which will probably be here in september with which i am ok and you should be too).
This isn't for suggestions, this is talking about vanilla objects present in PC that may be ported to console and some may not.
TU14 was listed as roughly pc 1.3 but with a lot of the features seemed more like 1.4. Going with 1.4 being the basis and having some things from later versions as the case has been with us, here are my predictions...
Blocks:
Command Blocks most likely will not be and may never be in console versions. Or at least on the 360 and ps3 versions of the game.
Beacons, at least with their aesthetic purposes(the beam) may be in the game. as for their status effects, that's a toss in the air.
Redstone Blocks have a good chance of being in the next update. Seeing as we already have some of the items in the 1.5 update, it's reasonable to believe we'll have more.
Daylight Sensor will probably wait at least another update. Same with the Hopper and Dropper. Although it's anyone's guess and most predictions turn out differently than expected.
Mobs:
An update to Slimes causing them to spawn naturally in swamps at night is likely along with another swamp addition the Witch.
Due to constraints with 360 and ps3, the addition of bats seems unlikely. However, they still have a chance of being added.
It is highly likely that Wither Skeletons will be added. Whether or not the Wither will be added is another story. He will probably be added with the 1.5 equiv update.
Items:
As is common knowledge, written books and book and quill wont be making it to consoles.
Seeing as Nether Stars drop from the Wither it's unlikely they will be added before the Wither.
Fireworks most likely will have to wait another update but have a higher chance of being on the Bone and 4 than 360 and ps3.
Redstone Comparators are 50/50 on being added as are weighted pressure plates.
that's it for my predictions. remember that it's all speculation and opinion and has a greater margin of error than it has of success.

This thread and many others are proof to the contrary of that sentence. There were threads the day TU14 came out with people asking when the next content would be released and what would be in it. People do it every update. They are never satisfied.
Just for curiosity's sake, why would bats be such a constraint on the xbox 360? I could easily see bats and witches in the next update. (whenever it may be) My guess is the next update is the equivalent of pretty scary update with a few things brought forward, but it will be a long while before i tire of what we have now.
Bats are useless - I could easily do without them. If we won't be getting beacons however, I say add bats and have them drop bat wings for use in a Jump potion. Otherwise... meh.
My predictions:
RS block, coal block, comparator, locking repeater, hoppers, droppers.
Wither skellie, wither boss, nether star.
change to Redstone to add signal strength.
Beacons are a maybe. They might be "partially" added, meaning the block is there but it will have no functions.
...My guess is the next update is the equivalent of pretty scary update with a few things brought forward...
Because of this.... I'm going to guess that 4J will shoot for a release date of around Halloween on TU16.?.?.
I don't see that bats will be an issue either. Nor an issue with Beacon effects (but needs Nether Star for crafting).
We might see the Whither Skeleton and the Whither on the next 'feature' update, which should include the Nether Star (for the Beacon).
Probably will see: Name Tags. Swamp Hut Structures (for said Witches). Villager Professions.
Command blocks are a possibility on the horizon, but probably not for this update, especially as it would likely require a UF-UI (User Friendly-User Interface) built for it in particular, and I don't see it getting implemented before something akin to Adventure Mode is added.
Firework Star and Rocket is a possibility...
I hope to see the Redstone updates to include:
Can Lock Redstone Repeaters.
Comparators.
Hoppers.
Droppers.
Daylight Sensors.
Weighted Pressure Plates.
Trapped Chest.
Block of Redstone
Activator Rail
Minecart with TNT
Minecart with Hopper
Hmm... I can only hope if it is based on 1.4 that a lot of the problems don't carry over, like world saving over itself. That was a sad day for me on the pc. Didn't play anything till 1.6.
In regards to what I hope is in, I can only hope that the hoppers/droppers do make it, as well the coal blocks & redstone blocks.
Do note that it is unlikely that they would put the wither skeleton in without the wither. As isn't that the primary purpose of that breed of skeleton? To get wither skulls to make a wither appear, in order to get a star for the beacon. As far as the effects of the beacon that might be possible to be just aesthetics, but unlikely if they can. All that stuff is clumped together needing each other anyhow. The benefit of the beacon is the sole reason for the wither anyhow.
For me though I just am not interested in the wither, and will probably never will be. I don't like the risk of world damage, as I am a builder before a survivor.
So if that was the only thing added then I know I wouldn't be to fond of the update, as it would have nothing in it for me. However it is unlikely that that would be the only thing going into the next big one. I wouldn't mind some features being pulled forward, like the creation of mossy & cracked variants of certain blocks. That would be extremely useful in a world so limited in size. How often do you stumble across a temple or dungeon in a single game...
Would be nice if also some of the fishing mechanics were brought foward as well, since that would be useful to getting lily pads among other things a whole lot more easily if not a way to be renewable for certain items. That would add more interest into fishing, instead of just getting fish for taming a cat, which you can only do so many times before you really don't need anymore.
I mainly look forward to any new block that I can work with into building & survival, but if there really is no renewable way, then in survival mode it just isn't feasible to build with such things.
So we will see eventually what does make it, or get pulled foward in the future when the time comes. I am just too patient in these times, since I am enjoying the game as it is.

My First World, always getting back to is a pleasure I enjoy with each new update that brings in more things to add in.
I'm just waiting for Fireworks and the Wither to come to X360 Minecraft. Everything else is just extras to me.
And if any of the things ever be XONE and PS4 only then I will be mad at them cause that is not fair.
Fair? No, but it's not about fairness. It's about capability and the 360 is hitting it's limit. I can see so many more features being added to the next gen consoles that would not stand a chance on the 360 nor the PS3. The next gen consoles are leagues ahead of their predecessors and we are all going to have to make the switch eventually.
I am really hoping the reason why it took forever for the last update was the addition of the PS3, 4 and xbox 1 to the equation. I am actually pretty happy with the update overall. I did wish we got witch huts so I wouldnt have to make a new map again, but whatever.

they did state that the reason bigger worlds wont be coming to 360 is because "not everyone has a hard drive" so that could still become an option for 360(i.e. multiple world sizes being able to be selected at generation)
as for "we are all going to have to make the switch eventually" I dont necessarily agree. if i ever go a step ahead of 360 it'll be to a pc. it's modular so i can always be "current gen" but i'm a guy who still loves the snes. current isnt my priority. experience is. and as long as there's an experience to be had in mc360 i'm happy. although i'm always solo because i think it's ridiculous to pay 59.99 to play a game online after i've already bought both the console and game. the only thing that kept me from buying PC was RAM restrictions(although it could be my processor but i only have 2GB of RAM so i hold that responsible) and the fact i'm not too skilled with a keyboard(although there have been a lot of mods to give gamepad support).

Command blocks will most likely be in X-box and PS3. I don't understand your reasoning for this. They code this game in C++. I code a lot and I know that C++ is a very very flexable and strong coding platform. They will make a UF-UI (User Friendly-User Interface) and some commands for the block (maybe even somerudimentary coding system akin to basic or something along those lines)
The fireworks and rocket can also be done. It really wouldn't be that hard.

Lag issues and book and quill were my reasons. Only for 360 and ps3. I'm sure they'll make it to the bone because how else will Microsoft sell their console? I mean titanfall helped but it hasn't quite lived up to hype. But the $500 price tag probably hinders most people who don't have money to burn and don't spend every cent on games.
I'll buy a 500 dollar console JUST TO trade it for a gaming computer that is worth 1,000+ (Not joking. Seen some posts on craigslist of people wanting to trade their gaming computer for a console because they don't play PC that much at all >.> <.< ).
Please god coal blocks. After mining on the computer then coming back to the xbox, it's legitimately depressing to not be able to make coal blocks (or maybe I just take mining too seriously ) But in all seriousness it helps loads with inventory and storage space.
I would be worried about the console's performance of fighting the wither. There's so much going on and so many explosions, and personally I seem to experience lag and loading issues when TNT goes off, so it would essentially create the same problems. However if they make it work, then it would be awesome. Also maybe my xbox is just old and not handling explosions well.
I would also really love to see the different varieties of fish/junk/treasure added. They don't really have a purpose besides pufferfish being used in potions, but it makes fishing actually enjoyable because you have like 20 options of what's going to come out of the water instead of like "Oh...another fish....cool." I know this was JUST added to pc and 4J has been following roughly the same update pattern, but I'm just sayin.

coal blocks and variety in fishing sound nice. and theyve been known to pull features ahead by several versions. nether brick was pulled ahead by like 5 versions(obviously a guesstimation) so its not outside the realms of possibility
I'm looking forward to seeing those things in TU16. I really hope we get stained clay and glass sooner and hopefully some kind of xbox-exclusive item(s) like beets on the Minecraft PE.

I'm scared to get close and I hate being alone.
I long for that feeling to not feel at all.
The higher I get, the lower I'll sink.
I can't drown my demons, they know how to swim.

I'm pretty sure 4j just ports the textures over, then re-writes the code. And I"m thinking along these lines: If Tu14 was based on 1.3, then the next feature update will have features from 1.4. So that means:
The Wither (& WSkeletons)
Witches
Bats
Swamp slimes
Mobs that can wear armor
Beacons (Made with nether stars)
And maybe fireworks (They have over one million crafting recipes)
But let's talk about theories about what could possibly be in the next feature update(which will probably be here in september with which i am ok and you should be too).
