When we play Minecraft on consoles, we play just that. MInecraft. That's not a bad thing, no. Not at all. But Minecraft is a game that relies on how expansive your imagination is. That being said, some of our imaginations have come to a halt, and because of this we stop playing for a moment. We go play new things and eventually go back. If the people who's imaginations have temporarily stopped but we're to continue playing the game would eventually be hated. TheGamingLemon is a prime example of this. He's made survival content for a year and a half and now he's drawn away from it.
Not sure how to make a concluding sentence... so...
I would like to see 4JSteves Minecon 2012 idea implemented, a matchmaking system. When you go in to the Quick Sessions/Minigames section of the XBLA Forums you can see people hosting many PvP gametypes with maps that we can't deny they downloaded from the internet made by other people (Bravo for those who don't.) So instead of downloading them we could upload them to 4J and have them approve certain maps. This is what made Minecraft PC Youtubers popular in the first place. PVP gametypes. That being said, I feel as it is just as important as survival or creative mode. What do you guys think about this re-re-re-re-brought up idea?
Absolutely full support. It would be very nice to have access to approved minigames maps that can be played in one quick session (which would be necessary for a matchmaking system). It would also provide grief protection for these maps since the system could simply just reset the map after each session ends.
I can see where, from a corporate standpoint, 4J may not want to expend the resources to have staff vet the maps submitted by users. It might be more interesting to them to have some of their own staff create the maps and then market the access to the matchmaking system as a form of DLC.

I like the idea of a quick session, where you just click that and you're placed into a random game with someone. But as far as "Rank" I don't know how that would be even possible to implement. How would you make a basis around rank? Would it be time spent on Minecraft?
Or perhaps total blocks mined or even the number or worlds they have?
The idea of just wanting to press quick session and then jump into random peoples games... I'm impartial, because I like the idea of it but I'm not entirely sure if I would want people where I have no idea who they are joining my game either. But of course that would be a toggable option I'm assuming? Same as if you make it invite only or not?

I said Quick Sessions for the Multiplayer part of the forum referring to them, not an actual thing. But I suppose for rank it could show Wins/Loss and the players skin when you go over to their gamertag from the "SELECT" Menu. But as far as getting in to lobbies it could be simple as ever, like going in to a matchmaking session from the menu and selecting your preferences for the gametype like gamertags, certain maps or just searching for one with default settings. Then choose a lobby from the following given after the search is done then join a game that best suits you. Or create a session with a selectable approved map with the ability to toggle invite only or not.
Then again, 4J Designs the game so whatever suits them is best I suppose.
This and mods would give minecraft Xbox a full minecraft experience. It would not feel like it is a sad port. But since Microsoft is too stubborn, this is really the only thing that can possibly happen.

Mods really can't happen... It would basically be like a downloadable Title Update that would harass the 360's processing and RAM power. I don't like the idea of mods, but 4J implementing their own ideas could be the closest thing to a mod we get.

Mods are against XBLA Terms of Service anyways, at least in the sense most people would like them implemented (and Gidy is oh too correct about the Xbox's ability to handle that). And anything dev'd by 4J wouldn't really be considered a mod.
I like the idea of a matchmaking system, but I feel the implementation would need to be well planned for it to be successful and satisfying to the players.
For example, I'm not so keen on minigames; they bore me, so I stay away. I'd like to be able to click over to a matchmaking system where a list of open survival or creative worlds can be found. For that they wouldn't really need to have any type of approved map, though. And rank wouldn't make all that much sense, unless you count leaderboards.
It would need to create something to accommodate different types of players, not just those who wish to play PvP or pre-made maps.
It would also need some sort of anti-griefing aside from reseting the entire world. Session customisation for who can and can't join (if anyone at all). It all seems rather complicated and, in the very least, far-off, but it'd be a rewarding experience if done correctly.
Overall support.

With common matchmaking systems, the developer can add and remove gametypes, usually those that are not. But PvP playlist would need to be a launch gametype if this obscure idea would ever see light.

I'm not against PVP being a gametype at the launch of such a thing; I'm just for other, non-competitive types.

Well hell yes I do. There is only one thing. The combat system is currently complete garbage and should be enhanced before anything like official pvp is added into the game. I am not throwing 4J under the bus there, I am throwing Mojang under the bus.

Enhanced? I actually find Minecraft to be quite competitive when it comes to PvP gametypes. 2 Weapons with the trickery ones like Lava and TNT. Minecraft doesn't have aim assist so battles take, well, skill. Running can result in chases which from there can turn out in to a variety of situations. I think this is what made PvP MInecraft what it is on PC today.

I can see where he's coming from, because unless the host works their but off to create battlegrounds and create specific chests with certain items etc I cant see it working very well because it's entirely on the host to do everything beforehand.
Enhanced I imagine would be kind of like starting out with a bonus chest full of preset items from a menu before the game starts. and perhaps customizing specific spawn locations for the players.

Which is why I said 4J verifies the maps sent in by the community and I also like the idea of 4J making their own. It doesn't really matter how long it takes to approve a map, right? I wouldn't even care if it's a new map from the community added every 6 months.

That would get boring pretty quick to have it just be on one map for six months, then another for six, etc.
If that was the case... I'd say 2-3 months add a new one if that was the case.
IF they could have rights to sell the maps (say for maybe $1) that are approved, then they could hire staff to review the maps and release them at a reasonable turnaround, as long as it turns a profit (or at least pays for those employee's set up to review/approve maps time and labor).
I think the can of worms that can be opened with this is that you might have way more people submitting maps for review than they can feasibly/economically handle, that coupled with some maps may get rejected, which could garner some negative/hard feelings toward 4J. In the business world, negative publicity is faster spreading and much more powerful than positive publicity.
That being said, I would love to play around in some of the worlds that I've seen other people work on.
