so when the new update arrives that brings jungle biomes, what does that mean for all the older maps without them ?
would a jungle biome generate in a place thats not explored yet maybe ?

Yes if you have ungenerated chunks there is a slight chance of spawning a jungle biome.
However you could always just plant alot of jungle trees in creative, this is extra good if you get a biome shift making an area an actual jungle biome.
Keep in mind if you try the ungenerated church thing you may get a very ugly looking border between new and old via new generation coding.

I put my shirt on one leg at a time, just like everybody else.
Keep in mind too that an unexplored area must be totally unexplored... that is, no one must have entered near that area either above ground or below it while mining. It does not matter whether the image is filled in on the map since people must have their maps out in their hand while exploring for those areas to fill in. Most people find that they have explored more of their maps than they think they have. If you have more than one player playing in your world, chances are that all the various areas of themap have been explored by someone at some point in time.
As also mentioned, the collisions between new and old terrain can be very unsightly. I've been through several biome additions now, and I have yet to attractively merge in old and new terrain in a map without doing A LOT of terraforming. As suggested, I would count on either converting the world to creative and planting your own jungle or starting a new world once the update comes out. Personally, I plan to start a new major build world. Hopefully, though, jungles will be the last biome addition for a long time to come, so that major build world should last me long while.
Would be nice if they put saplings in the bonus chest, for the worlds that had them before.
The worlds that didn't well obviously the only way is what people have mentioned above...
Agree. It would be nice if they also added an option to turn the bonus chest on or off after the world is initially created. I have a couple of survival island worlds where I really needed the bonus chest to start out, so I turned it on; and now that I'm established, I would LOVE to be able to turn the stupid thing off. I hate having to have a chest sitting out in my yard all the time; but if I destroy it, I wind up with yet another wooden pickaxe and/or axe to store or get rid of the next time I enter the map.

oooo yeah that option would allow for the older worlds to get some of those things.... Or at least you would hope.. Although for some reason I think it is considered part of the generation unfortunately. If that is not the case then it could be possible. hmm... I actually like that line of thought, even if I keep it in no matter what...><

My First World, always getting back to is a pleasure I enjoy with each new update that brings in more things to add in.

I hate that too. Whenever I first found out about the... bonus chest annoyance, I decided to restart the world again. Same seed and all, so that if felt like nothing ever happen.
Anyways, about jungle biomes... If you're into the whole terraforming thing, then I would just go ahead and create another world. I'm fine doing that after every other major update, so I've gotten use to it. Really depends on you.
Actually now that we are on the subject, haven't 4J now have it where just about all biomes generate in new worlds? Or is it most of them these days???

Yes and no. 4J has said that if you generate a new world and leave the Seed blank for the game to make its own seed, the game will try to put every biome into the world (with the exception of an ocean biome).
However, if you put a manual seed, the chances of getting all biomes is much, much worse.

Yea, that would make since... Especially when it comes to popular seeds players go back to, and because of this they are not likely to generate anything beyond what version the seeds were created in.
It will give me another chance to do things again but with more technical ablity this time. I always start a new work when one of these updates come out. Hopefully it will be the last time I will restart, but wont bother me if I do have to either.

It would also be great if 4J studios put jungle saplings as an option when trading with villagers. It shouldn't be that hard to just add jungle saplings to either the bonus chest or villager trading I would hope. I really don't want to make a new world just for a jungle. I just want to be able to grow cocoa in my current world.

That would be nice except my world generated without any villages or villagers. The closet i have to it is a random farm generated in the water at the very top of my map. about 4 blocks above water and that was it. And i've never put my world on creative and nor do i plan to.

Actually zombie villagers will spawn in all our worlds later on like the PC. You can cure them with a potion and then feed them golden apples. That way you can get villagers in all your old worlds later on.

Seeing how they're going to add horses, wither skeletons, etc. I don't see why they won't bring that particular aspect of minecraft PC to the Xbox version. Let's hope they do so that we can get jungle biomes in our old worlds.

Thanks for the info Mustache_Guy.
Here's a small example of what it could look like:
Basically it's a desert that crashed into a plains biome.
The rest in the world were just right angles of ice in water. =\
Stay fluffy~
That is what I hate.
I always explore my whole worlds as soon as possible.
Doesn't take long though because they're so small.
