No, because that will be impossible. It will be an arcade game, AND the two are both very different. It's not like they grabbed minecraft from the PC, and just slammed it into XBL.

Uh, it is possible. I remember Microsoft saying a few months back that Minecraft on 360 would play nice with Minecraft on PC. I don't remember where I read it, but if I dug around hard enough I could find it.

And yeah, they basically did take Minecraft and slam it into XBLA. It's going to be identical to the PC version.
Cross-Platform would be nice, but xbox 360 users would suffer done disadvantages in multiplayer, like:
Less control ability of view
Minecraft would suffer because it would be harder for people to look where they want. What do you think is easiest?
Moving a mouse or moving a thumbstick?
Harder to chat
Come on guys, unless you have a chatpad, talking is going to take awhile.
Heck, even WITH a chatpad typing on a computer would be faster.
Slower attack speed
I think this speaks for itself. What is fastest? Mashing the X button or whatever, or mashing LMB?
And that's just a start. I think i could sit here for hours thinking of disadvantages for Xbox users.

How is moving a mouse harder than a thumbstick? Not at all.
The Xbox uses this cool thing called a mic that people can talk into and listen to what other people are saying.
And your last reason makes no sense because mashing buttons aren't different.
You're just another PC snob who wanted to come on the XBLA forum and ruin everyone's dreams. Too bad.

And all of those would be valid complaints if Minecraft were a competitive first person shooter. It's not a competitive game. And lots of people already play with an Xbox controller. You don't need to look extra fast, and even then, you can crank the sensitivity. Typing on a chatpad is plenty easy and very fast. Plus, voice chat. And you can't attack any faster with a mouse than with a button or trigger.
“Minecraft” (Mojang, Microsoft Studios). Known for its limitless possibilities, “Minecraft” will come to life this winter in a whole new way through the magic of Kinect and also feature cross-functionality between the PC and Xbox 360 versions."

Cross-Platform Gaming has only just started to be used...
Shadowrun, one of Xbox 360's first PC to Xbox 360 cross-platform compatible games came out in 2007, over 4 and a half years ago.
Not sure what you mean by "Cross-Platform Gaming has only just started to be used..."
Furthermore, it was already originally announced long ago that the Xbox 360 version would be cross-platform compatible with the PC version of Minecraft
"The Xbox 360 version of the game, developed by 4J Studios, will support Kinect play and cross-platform playability with the PC version." -Wikipedia

I will purchase Minecraft XBLA if I know for sure I can play online with my friends who run a PC server. The mixed views on this seem disparaging, though. If I cannot do this, when it was announced that I could, I don't think I will purchase this XBLA game version anymore if I can't do what I was told I could do
I hope not. The PC version will have to be stripped otherwise.
How will the PC version have to "be stripped"? How would making the game cross platform be a detriment to anything? They're the same game only one is played on PC and the other is on Xbox 360.
I love how people are saying "impossible" and or that it pc players would do better... This isn't a FPS, I really don't think it makes a difference if some one can build faster.....
with that said. Here are some of the things i would like to see
1.A type of W-listing and or a way to set it to where only your Friends list can join(open, Friends only, Invite only.)
2. Match settings (Make TNT enabled or disabled, Make creative or normal ect)
3.Be able to take and share Photos of your work.
4.Some type of Skin changing.
5.In game voice chat and or text.
6.Seeds and or a way to download others maps.
7. an cape with xbox "x" on it for the people who already have minecraft on pc.

Ten points from Gryffindor.
C++ =/= Java. The amount of code conversion that's going to be needed is retarded. The PC/XBL userbases are large enough that there'd never be a lack of players anyway, why bother with cross-platform Minecraft?
[Client thread/INFO] [Natura]: TConstruct, we're going to take over the world!
A survival map in development. 157 downloads. Click the link, you know you want to!
Don't listen to me though, because I'm not totally sure.
I agree maybe, I hope so!, but probablly not

EDIT: Yep, found it. Proof that Microsoft said it would be cross platform. It's most of the way down the page, but do a ctrl-f for Minecraft and you'll find it.
And yeah, they basically did take Minecraft and slam it into XBLA. It's going to be identical to the PC version.

lol just started... ? someone is new and didnt do there Homework...
long ago Pc ps and Xbox all could play games online togather, Counter Strike was the BIG BIG thing back when that was going on.
there was a gamming tournament and all PC gammers kicked the **** out of everyone on Console even the Console Pro Gamers lost too Rookies on the Pc.
after that day. PC will never be online with Console gammers,
I would be upset if i was a Console Pro gammer and lost to a Rookie Player on a PC.
it so much easyer aimming and getting head shots with a mouse then it is a joystick on your control
Cross-Platform gaming has been around for a while. The first cross-platform mmorpg is Phantasy Star Online btw.
And that's just a start. I think i could sit here for hours thinking of disadvantages for Xbox users.
I think a thumbstick would be easier IMO.
Also, ever heard of mics?
And who said you had to mash X?
How is moving a mouse harder than a thumbstick? Not at all.
