Hello, I own a server named Snozcraft (Snozcraft.mcph.co:26959). Now, we recently added it to MCSL(Minecraft Server List) and we had the strangest thing happen to us.
We had at least 100 people join spamming "GIVE ME OP!" and then our spamguard would kick them, of course. However, we banned EVERY single one. Yet, they keep joining and spamming. We assume it is one person doing this (with a hacked client, maybe?). How do we get rid of them? Is this happening to anybody else?
It's a collection of hacked Minecraft accounts { usually }.
Is there a way to possibly get rid of them without a white-list? We have quite a bit of players on our server and we don't want to forget a player and never hear from him again.
That is really weird. Are you sure it was over 100 accounts? I thought that when Mojang updated their login system it stopped most of the Spam attacks.
Yeah, I'd show you the BannedPlayers.txt. But for some reason, whenever we banned them it wasn't added to the bannedplayers.txt. Nor was it added to Banned-IPs.txt
Have you looked into installing MCBans? A lot of people hate it but I like it because it filters out a lot of accounts that have been used for griefing and the spam attacks. Also What Eoin said ^^^.
It's PWN4G3. Just install MCBans, it'll get rid of them. I thought notorious had stopped development on that program, but I guess it's still up and running.

They've stopped logging in, but in our console it says " [Server] INFO [IP ADDRESS HERE] lost connection "

Yes sir, online mode is currently enabled.
They've stopped logging in, but in our console it says " [Server] INFO [IP ADDRESS HERE] lost connection "
It happens like 3 every 10 seconds.
Grr, this is annoying!
Thanks for any further help,
-Luke
The only problem I see there is that those messages could make your server log's file size very big. Other than that, at least the attack stopped.
Indeed. The server isn't hosted on my PC, so it doesn't matter if the log file gets too big.
Thanks for the help everyone.
