Im having the same problems
I can't let people on to my server without turning my firewall off
i have a Hamachi server do you have to do anything else for a hamachi?
same issue here i tried to input the new firewall rules for port 25565in the control panel but they still couldnt see the server online, seeing the "cannot connect to server" error. i am using hamachi as well, and i can get them to connect with the firewall down.
im using the latest version of the server on windows 7 and windows firewall.
!_i Me Too I Just Cant Seem To Do It Right Look's Like My Dream's Of Being A Server Owner Is Crushed I Love Firewall I Rather Not Own A Server Then Be Tracked Down :(I Feel So Hopeless
Would it still be hackable if firewall is up, but with that exeption
Also, can firewall be hacked through?I have the same problem and im looking for help
It is windows firewall, but I cant seem to find allow incoming traffic, I HAVE found allow a program thru windows firewall, but I only seem to be able to add programs, maby add minecraft server. exe? or is there another way?
Try adding java.exe, since most server operators run minecraft_server.jar which isn't self-executable
Hey I have another problem. When I go in Windows Firewall in Control panel, and go into "Allow a program or feature through Windows Firewall" Minecraft is not listed there. How do I find it.I have Windows 7 Ultimate.
My ultimate fix was found! I hope this helps everyone. I've followed the steps to verifying the TMP and UDP port forwarding on my Belkin I had to make one for each with 25565.
Then I went into the Windows Firewall Advanced settings and made the said "New Rule". I added a program inbound and outbound on both the server .exe and the minecraft .exe, to allow ANY. I also added the said Port to the rule, one for TMP and one for UDP with the port being 25565 in both inbound and outbound. It seems inbound to the computer you are using as a server is the only one you really need to add these rules too, but I added the rules to both inbound and outbound to be safe.
This did no good, but this was not the problem.
BUT, keep these rules in, as stated above they WILL be needed
Someone mentioned Adding Java into the inbound. I found Java 6 and 7 had conflicting rules in the inbound rules. I decided to do a full clean up on Java and reinstall. I deleted all 6 inbound Java rules. Exited the Windows Firewall Advanced settings and then entered the Uninstall/Add in Control panel. I uninstalled Java, then went into C Drive and deleted the left over file to Java under Program Files/Java. I rebooted my computer. Jumped on the internet to Java Download and put a fresh install on the computer. Windows Firewall has now created new rules for Java. I logged into my server and it was in full running mode.
Ultimately, I believe Java had errors. Wether or not the version 6 or 7 were the issue. I believe that over a period of time, with Java crashes or auto-updates, that the Java program became corrupt. I hope this helps. It has been plaguing our family (3 of us who love to game together) for over 5 months.
The absolute easiest way is to go to windows firewall, click "Change notification settings," click both of the "Notify me...." blocks, then click "OK."
Restart the minecraft server and you will receive a notification that Windows Firewall has blocked the following application.
Click allow application and Presto! you are online.

I couldnt tell you. I dont use norton.
You may want to just click "allow an app" in the control panel and look for instances of java. Make certain to check the app as well as checking the public setting.
Im having the same problems
I can't let people on to my server without turning my firewall off
i have a Hamachi server do you have to do anything else for a hamachi?
Nope, just tell your friend to join your hamachi network, open up the server or open to lan if int he same household and give him the hamachi ip to enter in minecraft
ugg you dont get it hes trying to say that none of that is working, ive been trying to port faward for almost a year now with not even one join from someone else!wait huh? i was replying on a diffrent thread and it applied here?!?
I've been having this trouble as well. To be perfectly clear, let me emphasize the following:
(1) I have correctly set up port forwarding through my router via port 25565. I know this because I can run the server when Windows Firewall is disabled, and people can access it and play, but if I turn on Windows Firewall, they can't.
(2) I set up a rule in Windows Firewall to allow traffic through port 25565, but I still can't see myself when I go to canyouseeme.org unless I disable Windows Firewall.
(3) I edited the rules for java.exe to include allowing traffic through port 25565, but I don't think this is the issue, seeing as how I can't even see myself in canyousee.org without turning off Windows Firewall.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. For the time being, I will turn off Windows Firewall when connecting my server and hope that the firewall built into my router will be sufficient.

HOW DID HE GET HERE?
True, however the number there isn't any fixed amount. it can be based upon number of java installations or prompted creation of rules for java.
