How do you portfoward a bukkit server?
I have an Arris TG852G Router from Time Warner Cable
I already made a Static IP which is 192.168.0.150, the one I got from portfoward.com
I am running Windows 7 Home Premium
I already opened my ports 25565 to UDP and TDP in my Windows Firewall but it says they are NOT OPEN or not reachable
Have you already port forwarded your router? If not, here is the guide for you. That's not the exact router you have, but it's made by the same manufacturer and I hope it works
If you have already port forwarded, make sure your server is running while you test the port. Also, try testing them at canyouseeme.org.
Thx for the reply! I'll try everything u just said!
For your antivirus, use Google. Search for *Your Antivirus Name* firewall and you should be able to find some help or at least find out if your antivirus has a firewall or not.
For your router, go to the Security (name may vary) tab and see if it says anything about firewalls. If it doesn't, you most likely do not have a router with a built-in firewall.
My antivirus doesn't have a firewall and neither does my router
I think this may help. Make sure you port foward the right stuff =)
1. Open command prompt on the computer the server is running on.
2. type "ipconfig" and press enter
3. find where it says the IPv4 address, write that down.
4. find where it says default gateway, write that down
5. open web browser and type in the default gateway, usually something like 192.168.1.1
6. go to where you set up port forwarding (Look for NAT, Virtual Servers, Advanced Settings, or Gaming, they usually have the right page for port forwarding.)
7. make a new port forward entry, put 25565 for external port start AND end, and internal port start AND end. Use TCP and UDP
8. Where it say "server IP" or "forward to" put the IPv4 address you wrote down earlier, this tells the router to forward all data coming in through port 25565 to the IP address of the server computer.
9. click save start your server, and go to http://www.yougetsig...ols/open-ports/ , put 25565 in the port, and click "check" if it turns up green all is good, if not, then you might have a second device that needs to be forwarded, like a modem, this needs more advanced setup.

It still doesnt work I made a staic ip and everything!

your port forward setting look good. from the previous posts it seems youve messed around with your firewall. in your picture there is a tab called DMZ. point that at your server computer and allow DMZ connections THIS IS A MUST DO!!! DMZ IS THE BEST THING EVER!! ALLOW IT!. also in your router i see you have your port forward set to only one isntance of "BOTH" make another one and change the "both" to TCP and the scond one to UDP. that should get things working. also beside tinkering around and waiting for your friends to abe able to log in and stuff what you can do is go to http://www.yougetsig...ols/open-ports/
there and check if your port is working and in fact open.
Be sure to put your internal IP in the "Server IP:" slot in the server.properties (That's your IPv4 Address)
you DO NOT want to do this. keep the ip adress line in your server properties blank
First off, DMZ is not the best thing ever and is not a must-do, it is even a high security risk when left on for long periods of time. Therefore, I'd not recommend relying on DMZ with the server. You can try with DMZ on, but you should disable it within an hour of enabling it. A hacker who knows what he/she is doing can exploit your open ports with ease and suddenly you don't have control over your computer any more.
Secondly, why even use DMZ when the port forwarding seems correct to you? DMZ will just open that port again, plus all the other ports, making your computer a security risk.
Thirdly, BOTH is the same thing as forwarding two rules, one with TCP and one with UDP. There is no need to do two rules.
all DMZ does is allow whatever programs / connections you are running on your network to bypass the firewall through the designated computer its the same thing as turning off a firewall or disabling it completely what do you think a firewall is for . without one its the same security risk anyways. DMZ allows for a better connection and a better experience overall and is used by people everywhere. youre pretty much saying ooohh no enable DMZ and youre gonna get hacked. which is not the case at all. it allows incoming connections and lessened security for a specific activity without disabling your protection overall you can still allow the program to be bypassed through the firewall as well and still protect everything else on the computer too. for the 2 rules for one TCP and one UDP you are correct both is the same thing but from my experience making more than one can help if both isnt working.

The DMZ built in to the routers opens every port in the range from 1 to 65535, allowing access to any of those from outside the home network of the user.
There still is the firewall, but we cannot expect every user of Minecraft to be good with computers. What if an error causes the firewall to malfunction? What if it's not in use? What if a virus has already infested that machine and is blocking firewall from doing its job? With the defenses down, a hacker can easily connect to a port that is known to be weak to attacks, gain access to the computer and through that computer, gain access to the whole network, infecting everything connected to that network.
The separate rules for TCP and UDP might even work on some routers, yes, but I'm keeping my opinion about DMZ.
ok then let me say this. the problem is the router is not allowing incoming connections allowing DMZ does just that.
for the OP let you choose i allow DMZ on my servers and most of everything else i do even when im playing other online games like WOW it works. besides taking two conflicting opinions about what DMZ is /does if you want it or not see if it wokrs with your problem. then take a quick read through a google search of DMZ and read up on it to see if you feel as if you want to keep it allowed or not. http://compnetworking.about.com/cs/networksecurity/g/bldef_dmz.htm http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DMZ_(computing) http://lmgtfy.com/?q=is DMZ mode dangerous

I personally prefer the Windows Firewall with Windows Defender and Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware. I never really liked the other software firewalls after Norton 360 both restricted me from playing BF2 (and any other game) and destroyed about 2 months of work by claiming that the folder I kept everything in was full of viruses and deleting everything without asking...
i like this one because like you mentioned previously about my firewall. zone alarm notifies you of any and all outgoing connection and incoming as well. youll get a little splash notification on your desktop if anything changes or is trying to acces anything or send and internet connection with the ability to click allow or deny remember the setting or not to remember it also when looking over your connection and what happens in the UI of zone alarm it will bbreak everything down for you and you can even whitelist certain IP adresses to connect to your computer if you want or just allow minecraft specifically . norton 360 suuucks lol too bad to hear that. there is a registry claiming script i use when things like that happen. take onwership script can be googles its downloaded from howtogeek, and even then ill sandbox certain folders and monitor what happens. i use Ccleaner and GLary utilities and this nifty program "perfect uninstaller". just to keep things clean.
the simplest thing to do is do what i said and allow DMZ and see if you can even get connections if yu want to keep it that way then thats up to you. if you wish to not allow DMZ then youre gonna have to tweak with your routers firewall and your computers firewall and allow certain traffic through your network. by then you can figure out if your computer will allow connections to your minecraft server and people can connect to your server . if they can then well id say youre set. but as the above posts states thats up to you. if you can infact get it up and running . it works that way then you always have the option to like i said set it u p in a more secure fashion
put it this way . ive been running servers for awhile. had a few up myself for a few months to a year multiple servers even small too big for fun. and ive always had DMZ allowed on my server computer. and ill tell you what. not once ever at all did i ever get hacked or anything bad happen to my servers. my servers were premium and all different types classic tekkit FTB i even host mumble servers and tried a ventrillo didnt like it meh. but like i said. not once has anything like that happened

EDIT: It still didn't work though.
How do I do that?
I'm using 192.168.0.150 and it works perfectly for me. Then when my friends use my external IP it doesn't work
My antivirus doesn't have a firewall and neither does my router
You are not supposed to put ur IPv4 address or anything (people keep telling everyone)

9. click save start your server, and go to http://www.yougetsig...ols/open-ports/ , put 25565 in the port, and click "check" if it turns up green all is good, if not, then you might have a second device that needs to be forwarded, like a modem, this needs more advanced setup.
