In one side, there are bugs: I understand it and there's little you can do except locate and fix them. On the other side, there are totally avoidable situations like this one. If you can't see the difference between those two, please remove your fanboy glasses and read this post again.
Fanboy glasses? I don't like issues either. i was gonna play. I'm just sick and tired of instant nerdrage when something goes wrong. It's almost like people haven't eaten for days, and Minecraft is food.
I totally agree that the developers should work continuously to prevent things like this to happen, but there are unexpected things that can happen, and we should be able to live with it.
Ok so why can't any of the minecraft administration at least give us an estimated time of recovery for us waiting in anticipation for our daily dose of minecraft...I mean it does not have to be precise...just something enough to satisfy our need to know be the info correct or not(it's simple business politics people) an hour, 4 hours a day...ext just something at least...& it don't have to be presented at a difinitive expected time of recovery...just an estimate that's all....nvm I guess they were recovered as I was typing this out bahaha.

bull server is not up because I still cannot log into any damn servers...still the same error, same problem!!!
Look, these Mojang people are working day in day out (don't gimme bull**** about 'how it's their job' or any of that) they work hard to keep the servers up EVERY SINGLE DAY! So why don't you shut up and actually be patient! Jeez if anyone knew any worse they would think your life depended on it!
Lol dude...have you ever run any kind of server yourself brotha...apparently not because if you ever have you would know that aside from the initial set up & thee occasional updates, frequent or not, servers pretty much run themselves ...the only thing the admin/operator must do is make the updates, fix the bugs from said updates, repair/replace dead hardware on the machines & secure their systems against malicious attacks & fix any issues that may arrive from such things..aside from those things which are only rare occasional problems & CAN take some time to resolve there is very little to no interaction needed with a server of any kind...hell in fact most servers on the net are run by themselves & only have someone check on them once or twice a year...which is why there is such a big black market on hijacking servers & making them into slaves then selling them off to other "black market groups" to be used for their devious ends...
I don't like to complain but I am am paying customer & as one who has run & maintained multipul servers of various kinds I for one know there is ALWAYS a GREAT deal of room for improvment for a server of any kind period...be it hardware, code, or simply the techies, devs behind it all(bearing in mind human error is the ROOT cause of practically all problems simply because it is we who make the computers & the codes they use).
Also one more thing I forgot to add...YES some peoples life's for a large part DO depend on Mojang's reliability as there are a great many folks out there in the real world who make a great deal of money from running their own servers so when Mojang messes up it effects their income as well.
& why is there not a backup server for occasions like this...a business with such a vast clientele seems to me it should be a priority to have another server in place to handle the loads when something like this does happen so it does not effect their clientele ...& the clientele of their clients.
I hope servers are back up soon! Although I have more to my life than minecraft so I am not gonna complain on a forum about how I pay my money blah blah blah and and call out the people who work everyday to help this amazing game work day in and day out.
Hope they servers are back up soon but I am not going to waste my day complaining about it on a forum.
Everyone, relax. Sit back, eat a doughnut, I don't care. But this problem is being resolved, and yet somehow, we all think it's the end of the game! They are working on it. I personally think it's a great idea to play singleplayer for a while. I mean, you want to talk to others, get a FaceBook or a Twitter account!
My anti-rant rant is complete, have a nice day Mojang!

Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
Eons ago, there was only void. Then came the big bang. Voxels colliding with voxels, cubes with cubes. Blocks were forming, each texture unique from the rest. That was when our universe was born.
I can't believe you guys. They're not idiots. Why would they hit quit? Why would there BE an easily accessed quit, for any other reason then to stop there being damage from a virus, or something of the sort? It's a DDoS attack, and dinnerbone pressing the quit is just an idiotic rumor.
EDIT: Apparently he said it himself....AND YOU GUYS BELIEVED HIM? HE'S JOKING FOR GOODNESS'S SAKE
To all the people who think it was a "Wrong click" ...... Can't you do any research before you make these accusations?
A DDoS attack is very difficult firstly to know when they're coming. Secondly to defend against them, Yes protection can be done, but only a limit..
Hence the need for a back up server to fill the gap when something like this does happen...
I think he did click 'quit' because he wrote it himself, but someone picked up on it and starting to DDoS afterwards.
Or perhaps he realized that was a dumb business move admitting to doing that even though it is a very easy thing for any one to accidentally do & then changed the story to a DDos attack lol....any business savvy person would NEVER admit to their clientele that they did something as silly as that lol but like I said it happens to the best of us.
Hence the need for a back up server to fill the gap when something like this does happen...
And pray, good sir, how much would that cost? Also, how often would it be used? Since buying this game, there has been two occurences of a DDoS. TWO. It'd be a waste of money, and space. So shut up, and wait.

OORRRR there was a DDoS attack, they didn't know what was happening, he JOKINGLY said he hit the "quit" button, and then they found out that it was a DDoS attack.
This sucks balls. Mojang get your together please. I've had literally nothing but trouble since I purchased this game 4 days ago. It's definately not worth the 20 euro's AT ALL. It's not complicated in any way, but it's made complicated because I think the development team behind this is not doing it's job right.
Get this server up, and get rid of problems! Referring to the java error and minecraft crashing when trying to log onto a server. I've read literally hundreds of posts about this problem, dating so many patches back. I've read replies about a probable fix in 1.2 whatever, and still this is causing trouble?
Thanks mojang, really. Thanks. Suddenly I don't care for a monthly subscription fee anymore.

If it really was a DDos, you can't do much to prevent it except to buy pricey security, and even then, it often fails.
Off topic, the servers being down have only happened 2, maybe 3 times since I've been playing and usually were up by the time I woke up the next day.
"There seems to be some kind of attack on our servers. DDoS is for losers who can't hack properly."
Yeah, I was about to post that.
When the community finds out who is behind the hack, damn is that guy screwed. People will come to his house. Things will get messy.

This is why we don't have multiplayer.
Edit: Now it's offline again.

Especially saying how running these servers is "not complicated".
It's just a little downtime, and I don't think it would be for more than just a day! Goodness, people.
