Today I turned on my computer and maybe with in 10-20 minutes of using it,
my Anti-Virus program pops up a message saying something like
"The following files have been removed due to malicious content being in them:
Minecraft.exe"
I looked further into the details and it said that Minecraft.exe was a Trojan virus.
I have not noticed any changes to anything, except Minecraft is no longer downloaded on my computer.
For anyone who was wondering, my anti-virus program is Trend Micro Titanium.
Could anyone help/explain this for me?
Thanks,
avoeli
EDIT: I did indeed download Minecraft.exe from Minecraft.net
Same problem here - Trend Micro removed minecraft.exe.

Same exact threat file for me too! It seems that it was removed at around the same time too. Weird...
I wonder what is up!
I just had the exact same thing happen!!
I turned on my computer today and after about 20 minutes of browsing the Minecraft Forum, I noticed a Trend Micro window saying "1 File Removed" Or something like that. I checked it and it said something about a malicious software. Please help!
I'd upload a snip of the message, but I have no idea how to upload images (Sorry, I'm a forum noob :P)
I just redownloaded the exe and got the same alert from Trend Micro. Tried the jar and didn't get any alerts so I'm guessing it might be a false alarm.

Probably a false alarm. Try downloading it again, or scanning it with a free anti-virus program
Open Trend micro, click on threats stopped, then detailed logs, click on the incident, and the click restore.
Ah, many thanks. I too have Trend Micro, and it kept saying minecraft.exe was a trojan, but I had no clue where to start. I guess it's nice to know other people are getting this too.
If you continue to have issues, get different anti-virus software. Microsoft Security Essentials is available for genuine copies of Windows XP-7 for free, and Windows 8 comes with Windows Defender. Macs aren't that vulnerable anyways, do to differences in the system architecture. Why Macs don't get Viruses
Programs aren't allowed to modify main system files on a Mac, where Windows is still based on obsolete code where programs often add files to important directories like the registry.
Viruses often get in through security holes in Adobe Flash, Adobe Reader, Java and Internet Explorer. On a Mac, there is no Internet Explorer, people are unlikely to install Adobe Reader because Macs come with Preview for PDF files, Java is provided by Apple as part of the OS, and works differently than on Windows. Flash is already the least vulnerable, and it's almost nothing compared to the other three.
