This is only if you're having problems with RAM, while the problem with most people is that the new minecraft launcher runs terribly with integrated graphics processors, and it always tries to run with that instead of people's dedicated graphics cards. What they need to do is change it to run with their dedicated graphics card instead of the integrated graphics processor. Everyone who I've told who has actually done this correctly has fixed the problem, and other people have made posts saying what you're saying and it only fixes the problem if you're having RAM issues. Sorry to crash your solution, but it isn't going to work for that many people.
Hopefully they make the game run better for people with laptops with integrated GPU's like me then.
I'm not sure, but I think that's every laptop ever made. It all built together then shipped. If you have, for example, integrated graphics on your motherboard, that's just a graphics card built directly onto your motherboard. Plus, laptops aren't really made for gaming. They're made mostly for business, and being able to carry easily and travel with. That's why it's much better to have a desktop computer for gaming.
Wait? Should I Do This? Or No? Cuz, I Don't Want To Have to Pay 27$ Just To Buy Minecraft Again.
You won't have to buy Minecraft again by doing this. You are simply adding the amount of RAM your computer can use to run Minecraft. This may or may not help you depending on your computer but it won't mess up your game.

I have a laptop thats actually better than some desktop computers, the only problem is my core, I have intel core 2 duo, which sucks. Everything else is pretty good. I get 80-100 fps on max settings. Sometimes my computer cant really handle it and it goes down to low fps. But I still love mah laptop
TO everyone saying that it is due to RAM, and Graphics Card issues. My issue is not! I just built my new computer yesterday, and was eager to try out 1.6 because I could not play Minecraft on my old computer. And it is terrible...
Most people do claim that RAM is the only thing that Minecraft needs to run. Honestly, it's not. Most of the time, if you look in Your F3 screen, you'll notice minecraft running on around 256MB usage of RAM. My FTB, I'm not saying it's the same for Yours, but it maxes out at 768MB of RAM. 1GB of RAM dedicated to Minecraft is more than enough. Mostly the problem is With the CPU. Minecraft forces itself to run at the intregated graphics card, which of course is in the CPU. So really, the better CPU, the better performance. Of course, if you're running many mods (and I'm talking many), you'd probably have to get more than 1GB dedicated to Minecraft. Most of the times, you won't need that.
JVM Arguments is what you are gonna be
Thank you. Did not know that.
This actually causes way LESS lag...
Yes, but only if you set it to more than 1G
The default is 1GB, which is 1024MB, and going back to basic elementary math, you should know that 1024 > 1000.

considering I got up to 130 fps on 1.5.2 I don't think it's my hardware...
Minecraft won't use much more than 1G RAM, that's why even if I set mine to 4G it still lags, it's because the RAM isn't the problem.
At least that's my case, maybe it works for others, good for them, for me though I'm rockin' it at 10 fps

Please learn your math before attempting to help people help. Thanks!

Hell, I don't even go past 150mb of ram used I don't think.
