Ive been trying to get the latest version of minecraft Forge working with my MC 1.2.3, but I've come up with the same crash every time:

The only mods i have installed right now are Modloader, ModloaderMP, and of course Forge.
Im using MCPatcher to install all my mods, and Forge has issues with Modloader AND ModloaderMP....Im just wondering if there is a way around this and how other people have gotten Forge working on 1.2.3
Ive been mostly trying to get Pam's HarvestCraft working on 1.2.3, which requires Forge, but obviously I have to get Forge working first.
Hi, I had this exact issue, also using MCPatcher.
I was able to resolve it by UNchecking the option - "Custom Colors" in HD Patcher.
After deselecting custom colours, I was able to launch, so far without error.
Hope this works for you. Good luck
I forgot to mention, the conflicts with forge and modloaders is ok, make sure that forge's files are the ones used by placing the modloaders above it on MCPatchers list.
So it should be :
Modloader
Modloader MP
Forge
You should get a popup from MCPatcher when patching, saying that there is a conflict, and that forges files will be used....
Forge always has to overwrite the modloader files, or forge will not work.
Just glad I was able to..
I have to say this error drove me nuts for a bit, I couldn't figure out what the heck was wrong with it.
I reinstalled all my mods, one at a time, and finally realized it had to be MCPatcher itself.
I'm still not sure why custom colours would cause such an issue though.

i know that custom colors would stop the aether from working but i never tried it with just minecraftforge.
Anyone know if the latest build of forge (1.4.0) will still work with 1.1.0 minecraft? cos I wanna try out a couple of minecart mods (Steve's Carts and Railcraft) and they aren't compatible with 1.2.3 yet

WTF are you talking about....did you not read the two posts above you?
The lastest version of Forge works with 1.2.3 (obviously, if you read right above you.), and Pams Mods have been updated to 1.2.3....
Now thanks to kola, i have Pams HarvestCraft working perfectly fine on my Minecraft 1.2.3.
Hows about you actually look into things before you try and act like you know ****.
And to kola, THANK YOU FOR ACTUALLY HELPING ME AND NOT ACTING LIKE A COMPLETE DOUCHEBAG, LIKE SOME PEOPLE....cough cough, niels, cough cough
