Answers people have told me to try.
1.
Right click your minecraft folder, go to properties, and turn off Read Only. include sub folders. [Failed]
2.There's your problem. Guest accounts have VERY VERY limited permissions on your system, even more so that the %appdata% folder which is also the one I bolded is located in, is a system folder. Unless you have access to an administrator account on your computer then right click on Minecraft.exe and click "run as administrator" , Otherwise you are seriously out of luck. [Failed]
3.
Try right clicking on the "Minecraft.exe" then go to properties. The Compatibility and check the box "Run as Administrator". That MIGHT work, not sure though. [Failed]
I really would like this problem to get fixed, Ill post a video down here.
you must go there and figure out why the version file can't be modified.
Did it EVER work?
can you open C/Users/Guest/AppData/Roaming/.minecraft/bin/version in WordPad ? Don't change it, just see if you can read it.
If you can't you need to figure out why Guest can't open that file. It's a User / Permission / UAC type of issue.
