Hi,
This is my house plan... its quite large.. iam not sure on the materials to use yet.. i know that its going to be one floor, 5 high, 1/2 step roof. thats all so far...
(update)
I decided to use sand..iam still not sure why..I started building up the layout a little more and such like. I want to have alot of "natural" lighting coming in thought the windows on the outer rooms.(not sure if I have achieved this). Also the fountain seems a little boring to me but I'am not sure what more I coyuld do to it.
For such a large house in terms of width and length, you really ought to do more than one floor; for it's size, I would say three to four would be most appropriate. Now, if you are wanting to use architectural techniques to make it more realistic, that might require some studying. Judging from the layout of the floorplan, it feels very Victorian because of the central atrium just inside the entrance and the inclusion of what appear to be tower bases on the east and west wings. I'm no expert, but I do know a few things about architecture, so you could ask me (and many others here) a few more specific questions. I also suggest a custom texture pack that will suit the style you choose, as well as developing a palette of block types to use (usually 5-6 block types used in specific ways gets the job done) ex- using logs as vertical support columns only, or slabs as the bases for the walls (which would also make them look trimmed with moulding). The last and most important thing you could do, is to assign all the rooms a purpose before you start building. No easy going back once you're halfway and have discovered that your kitchen doesn't have enough space to accommodate everything.
Those are just my thoughts.

Thank you for your time, first of, its from a floor plan of a house, the house is one floor hence mine, sadly its not an indepth plan so no materials where mentioned only sizes. second, i have thought about a texturepack for a while but i havnt got around to it. I do agree with limiting my pallete, im quite sure stone wont work, unless i only use stonebricks/slabs for the flooring outside. apart from that, thats all iv realy come up with... im not very good at this my last build was bascily a "ring world" it wasnt very impressive. thank yoyu for your time, jackblg.
has realise that i know nothing about texture packs... nothing what so ever..a friend of mine has sent me a link to paintlypack or something....but it all seems so complex

Texture packs are probably one of the easiest things to use. Just download the .zip file appropriate to the version of minecraft you are running. Older versions will "work" but they will be missing blocks that could show up as invisible. You'll quickly find out and can try another texturepack.
But, once you have the downloaded .zip texture pack file open up an folder window like "My Computer" and at the top type "%appdata%" without the quotation marks. If you just did a standard install, you should see a ".minecraft" folder. Open it and then open the "texturepacks" folder and place the .zip file in there. You don't need to unzip it!
Then start minecrat and log in and hit "Texture Packs" on the main screen. You should see the texturepack you added listed in there. Select it and hit "Done", then start minecraft as usual.
My favorite I always use is the Soartex Fanver (http://www.minecraft...e__hl__ soartex). Just click the "Vanilla Textures for Minecraft" to be taken to the .zip file download.
Or... if you play the game in the launcher, you just click 'texture packs' then click the button to open the texture pack folder, then drag and drop. When you close the window, and scroll down your texture pack list, it will be right there.
If you do plan to use painterly, just go to painterlypack.net and then click 'customize' and don't be intimated! Basically it is just a big list of textures separated by what block or item they are intended for, blocks and items are sorted on relation categories like "weapons and tools" or "ores and processed metals." Then, when you are done, just stick a name on it and click 'download' and there you have it, your new texture pack, lol.

Hope I wasn't too confusing with all that.
