in the history of what we now know as Great Britain.
The Heptarchy refers to the seven 'kingdoms ' there at that time.
Forgive my revisionist history... The name of this project may be fanciful, but be assured, the structures will be as close to historically accurate as Minecraft and my chosen mods will allow. Regia Anglorum is a LONG term build that will eventually have between 20-40+ full structures; Castles, Cathedrals, and Abbeys. They will be built in a huge scale; 1block = 1 foot. The various structures will be spread around all over a HUGE map and separated by significant distance.
It took me over a week of 3-4 hour days to get a stable .jar file, and I had to leave out a LOT of other mods that I would have loved to play with, ie Chandeliers, Horses, Trees Plus, simply because they conflicted in some way with the mods that I did use. So, Certainly cant say NO MODS in this build, but Ill challenge you all to call me anything other than a 'legit survival player' once you see a few updates. (especially the FREAKISHLY huge and beautiful mine /wink).
Here is a FULL LIST of the MODs you will see in action throughout this project:

Im trying to decide how to best do these.
Due to the spread out nature of this build, I may need to include an updated map with the locations marked. I tried to use a couple different map rendering aps, but they don't recognize some of the block ids, and one of the structures therefore didn't even show up at all, so rendered maps are out.
Suggestions on this would be most welcomed. Current Download
Added the White Star... its the black tower... I know know... but the black star didn't show up at all. I'll use the black star for the white tower (built somewhere in the snow) later on
With the Neucshwanstein project, I was playing from a very newbie point of reference, playing completely vanilla. NO MORE. Since we last met, I have spent some 4-5 weeks learning how to play Minecraft all over again. (not to mention laying in a TON of prep work like mines, quaries, and crops). I have learned how to incorporate a whole variety of MODs into my game, and as I think you will see, they have given me the ability to really 'raise my game'. I have and will always avoided anything I consider a 'cheat'; ie... flying, too many items, MCedit, etc....I simply prefer to be challenged when I play. The long list of MODs that I have incorporated this time are all either 'visual additions', 'inventory management', or 'survival aids'. Heh, I still have to mine a million blocks, manage monsters, and worry about falling off of everything.
Getting started
The ExrtaBiomesXL mod combined with PamsMods weeee flowers really makes this a visually enchanting world to play on. I recomend them both highly. Here is where I was born.
Since this is a survival game (normal dif by the way), The first tasks were of course; 1 punch a tree, 2 make a pick, etc etc etc.... Ill skip most of that (though this afternoon's update will show some high points of the 'first ten hours'. But for now, lets just look around at were we are and start making a few plans.
Here is the map as I have explored it so far
The red star is the initial spawn point
The yellow star is where I chose to dig my main mine (expect the 'main mine' update tonight)
The mapping mod is AWESOME!... screw loosing you map when you starve to death while exploring. The various biomes show up really well and look GREAT...
PROBLEM though... same problem I dealt with in the last project -> Scale. I will be building on two scales in the project. That could look incredibly crappy, but the work around on that is to NEVER be able to see two different buildings in two different scales at the same time.
Scale 1) minecraft scale -> 1 block = 1 cubic yard(meter)... all of my support structures, ie mines, farms, lanes, survival-houses etc will be nuilt in this size... just easier.
Scale 2) Reproduction scale -> 1 block = 1 cubic foot ... all of the historic structures (the point of the project) this scale allows better curves, arches, features etc. It does of course mean that everything takes 27X more blocks and 9X more footprint space, but it is worth it to me.
On the map, The light blue rectangle with the red rectangle inside is the footprint of the first historic structure; Bodiam Castle. The red is the castle itself, and the blue is the mote/lake in which it sits. The footprint marker is not 'placed' on the map as yet. I expect a nice challenge trying to find a good place to build it, lol.
Here is a reminder of the castle in its mote
and quick peek at my MSPaint plans for this structure.
I will cover them in better detail when construction begins, and yes, I will be linking each full plan file for each castle for those who would like to build it themselves. The plans will not be linked until after I finish building each one.
Ok, that's it for now. Just wanted to get a few pics in and give you all a better idea of what this project will entail. Bottom line; The Bodiam Castle shown above probably WILL NOT be placed on any part of the map that has been explored to this point. I feel like each of the historic structure needs to be placed a considerable distance from each other to keep the 'Heptarchy' feel. So be prepared to travel when you DL the .jars that I will include as we go along.

Swervish, my darling: many a night I sat waiting for you to update the Neucshwanstein Project. But now, you're back! You have gotten me back to lurking this dreaded place because now I have hope that cool people still exist! Let it be known that I stopped playing a Minecraft for a while after you stopped updating because I didn't feel inspired to do cool things by your awesome Neucshwanstein Project. I cannot wait to feel inspired again by what is going to be another awesome job by your patient, patient mind.
On to the questions: I like mods that don't break immersion. Are all of your mods good for that? I hate mods like buildcraft and industrial craft but I love mods like backpacks and rei's minimap. It seems that your mod list is pretty awesome and I need to know if there's any that break immersion to the game.
Dude the biomes and flowers mod added so much uneeded but so much pleasured realism to the build. It adds so much immersion to the game. If i may point out, you may want to try out MATMOS. IT added so many sounds like birds chirping and tool bar switching and adds even more immersion into the game.

Thanks, and good luck on your latest endeavor!
I think we are of like mind. Therefore I can answer this way;
The only one that even possibly breaks emersion would be the enchanting mod, but to me it fits in with no problems.... Be also aware that the furniture mod includes recipes for things like TVs and refrigerators, but I will just be ignoring them and using only the lamps, pots, gutters etc.
The .jar that I included in the initial post is bug-free. If you enjoy the same emersion level as I do as I believe to be the case, fell free to DL it and simply create new worlds to your hearts content...... be aware that this .jar is built out of 1.2.5, and I FIRMLY do not expect that all mods included will update, so its a case of picking your poison and being stuck with it forever if you go large with this mod lists, as I have.
I do not expect to be be updating... ever... on this build.

Thanks you for the suggestions, but I dont listen to the audio on MC at all... I might spend a full three hours mining stone... all I would get would be 'chunk chunk, chunk chunk, chunk chunk, pop'... over and over, lol. Instead, I stream music from spoitfy and/or my ipod.....
I'll try to remember to give you guys a song list that pushed each phase, and I suspect that my age of 44 will make it so that many of you go "huh?" when you read the artists/titles.
Yeah Samich_Craft, thanks for the reminder... I COMPLETELY meant to do the sesame street "this episode brought to you by..." and a list of teh songs I MCed to.
The cave house
The name of the game is Minesomething, right, so hurry, dig a hole!
If you've played survival mode for any amount of time, it really isn't too tough to get the first 'hole' built pretty quick and get on to the second phase stuff like armor and smelting real building blocks. Here I am with bronze armor, and a ring of harder-than-dirt, creeper-proof, stone bricks surrounding my front door
Notice above, the Red backpack on the toolbar... I LOVE THIS MOD!
Each backpack hold the same number of items/stacks as a single chest, but you can open them while they are still in your inventory. This allows me to deal with the massive numbers of new items that come eith the other mods in this set-up. 12 diff colors of cobble, 25+ new plants and their seeds, and their fruits/vegetables, as well as 12 new kinds of gems, just as some examples.
After cutting some tall grass on the future wheat farm, I quickly have not just some wheat seeds, but BUNCHES of different seeds. Thank god for this inventory management mod.
Back inside before dark and we find my newby-hall.
This is taken from the back of the hall (beside the bed) and yo can see in the distance the same door from the earlier pic, but from the inside. Notice the upside down slopes above the door? another mod, MUCH more of that to come soon.
The blue and green cross on th efloor marks the spot EXACTLY underneath the re-spawn point. I learned the hard way in the previous project that this column of your map, from bedrock to sky-limit is to be kept SACROSANCT at all times. I almost lost my entire project last time when I couldnt spawn in and be alive.
Of course there is a crafting table and a starter level oven-bank right here in the newb-hall. Gotta make EVERYTHING that I will ever use. Although, the main mine has its own smelter-house with 64 ovens... that comes a bit later.
If you look along the walls, you will see a few of the storage room side passages.
Here's what they look like through the door.
Heh, gonna be a WHOLE lotta stacks in here.
Lastly, in one of the side passages is the ladder down to the starter mine.
All the way down to bedrock with the ladder-shaft, then back up to lvl 17 to begin a stair step mine from 1-17. This is how far I had to mine to get enough diamonds for an enchanting table and a diamond pickaxe.
This mine is essentially abandoned now in favor of the main mine which will be the subject of the next update, coming sometime tomorrow.
No new .jar for now. Ill wait until I have shown you the mine, the farm, and the Black Tower. Why? I dont have one saved that doesnt include them. that's why.
This will certainly be an awesome thread to follow. Just looking through the list of planned castles was fun!
A word of caution. This project dwarfs your last project. Given the enormous popularity of your first project, it seems likely that this thread may become so monstrously huge that finding significant/important posts will be impossible. I would suggest coming up with a plan for organizing/managing this thread now so that you aren't stuck with a megalithic mess of spaghetti in the future.
At a minimum, having an index on the OP with links to showcase posts for each completed project or feature, a link to the post describing the current project, and a link to the most recent update post would make it a lot easier for people to keep tabs on your amazing work.

ABSOLUTELY OUTSTANDING ADVICE...
I will do just exactly that.
Placing the index in the first post is easy enough, as well as keeping a spoiler window with DLs for all the plans to teh completed builds, and an up to date .jar DL on the first page... any suggestions from the crowd on how to effectively 'place' the individual posts/threads for each structure?
A simple enough solution would be to start a separate thread for each castle... but I dont wanna become a forum spammer. Maybe if I could lock those secondary thread to replies? maybe I should use an offsite forum to build each structure's thread, then link them in this thread? Is there a good offsite/open topic forum anyone could recommend? The recommendations from you guys to Imgur and gamefront were dead on. Any good 'dead space' out the in forum land that I can park 20-40 subthreads on?
Perhaps if a mod is reading this, you could see your way to giving me the ability to lock/unlock my own threads? That would keep all traffic in house for ad revenue, but keep the front page of this forum un-cluttered.
!!! yeah ATGOWTWT !!! great point. Just became very high priority.
