To all of you people who think Notch is still working on the game, he stopped working on Minecraft in late 2011. Get your facts straight and stop spamming his twitter about Minecraft updates.
Get some better armor and weapons by fighting lots of monsters beforehand. Also, go back to trade with that villager outside, I think he sells armor, though i don't really remember.
Or, you could invite some friends onto a private server so you can all beat him up together!
You need to attack with a bow. Swords are of no use as you can't get close enough to hit him without him tossing you around the room. Also, if you can't kill the skeleton king, you're in for some bad news. The skeleton king is the easiest boss in Herobrine's Mansion.

I made my own shader pack, by the way.
use bow as always, bring lots of items and bring some friends. i fight him with team of 6 and it was easy.
