like the topic say. I usually hang around the mod area making mod request ideas, but just recently I got a brainwave to use hexxit, the adventure based modpack from the technic people as a base for an adventure map with the additions of custom NPCs to use actual NPCs and smart moving for some actually decent platforming. But being such a grand undertaking which is mapmaking, and having never made a "proper adventure map" myself from scratch ever I require some help.
Would anyone be willing to help in this project? If you'd like a story I can provide it but I'd rather not make a wall of text like I always do as a first post and immediately put anyone off.
EDIT: Since I kinda just plopped it and ran I might aswell take while, since I'm bored, to explain some things I want to happen in it.
Since it's using hexxit the game will have access to things such as Tconstruct, Legend gear, dimensional doors and so-on. The story was to revolve around a player who works with Tconstruct over the course of the game and levels up that way. By collecting materials in the world through loot or mining them with your created tools (since it's an adventure map where you can break allowed types of blocks.)
The enemy of this map would be an unknown calamity of black void like creatures, not unlike the endermen, but more human like. The endermen are actually their enemies... The enemy of my enemy is my friend? I think so.
In my mind the game would start in a tutorial level inside a dimensional door pocket dimension cascade where it would explain some of the stuff you'd only see in hexxit and of course let you get a feel for smart moving which is added as a secondary to allow some other types of parkour designs.
I'd also like metroidvania style things. Such as "doors" or areas that can only be accessed once the player achieves a certain tool or does certain quests. Using custom NPCs would help with this as something fun to do would be to barricade off an area with an enemy faction of crystals that one shot you or have a player require an excavator from tconstruct to dig through a gravel collapse. Some of these areas would require some "honesty" though and otherwise breaking this honesty would sequence break or otherwise cause the player to become overpowered or get murdered horribly depending.
The story would at first be running from the new enemy who is destroying everything to eventually a search to discover what the enemy is and ultimately a push to remove them from minecraftia for good. I'm thinking it should be made on standard terrain so to make use of extrabiomes, but at the same time making custom terrain through say MCedit would be nice for some areas where standard terrain is insufficient as being randomly generated there would be a lot of cutting and pasting and putting "levels"/"areas" next to each other... In dimensional dungeons handbuilt would need to be the thing though.
It's vague because I only got this idea a few days ago and it's been brainwaving things in parts between doing other things, like mysterious vendors, survival enabled areas, dimensional mazes and custom NPC bosses being some of those... so needless to say it's a bit of a mess. But with a group to discuss it could be made into something, I'm sure.
Did you actually get this idea by yourself or did I inspire you?
I did actually get the idea myself. at first it was based around a game called "summon night" (more specific, summon night 2 which is the one i played) where the character is able to create their own weapons in game. I thought using tconstruct to do the same thing would make a nice premise to a map. But I needed a story and setting and out of that came this... atleast in theory because it was chopped in parts like mysterious merchants selling harken scythe stuff. Strange dimensionally unstable areas with floating chunks of land that you can jump and parkour between and so on and so forth. so i posted this so to see if some people could collab with me and help me bring the rest of it out because my head seems to only imagine the good parts like boss battles, plottwists and systems and leaves a lot of the middleground out. >_>
since like I said in your thread where you got annoyed at people asking for help i posted this only like an hour and a half or so before you did that thread. As for your fraction idea i didn't bother checking it until after I looked at said thread you posted. lol
